BABETTE

Gerard talked me into going to London with him the following week. He said that he at least wanted to share the beautiful British countryside with me, even if we weren’t on our honeymoon. I felt awful sad and upset about that part of it. This was supposed to be a special time, our first trip as man and wife. But it had been bombarded with tours and shows because Brian had made a mistake with the dates.

It was a lovely, rainy gray morning in Kensington as we drove to tonight’s venue. I watched out through the window as tiny raindrops pooled and collected against the glass before running off, down and out of sight. Most everybody was playing video games, Gerard was sitting in the very back smoking. I sighed heavily; it was painful how things hadn’t worked out for us this time when we really needed it to.

“Shit!” Gerard yelled out, standing to his feet. I jumped up to see what was wrong.

“Gerard?” I asked, poking my head in the back of the large bus. He looked as though he had just come across a great idea.

“Babes, I got it!” he said, hurrying over to me and kissing me. I was pleasantly surprised, but still very confused.

“Got what?” I asked, my mind blank and void of all ideas.

“Our wedding, I figured it out!” he said happily. He swooped down and kissed me again. “Okay, so here’s what we’ll do; I’ll play the show tonight while you get ready. Then afterwards I’ll come for you and then we’ll just get married, right backstage!” he explained exuberantly.

“Wh-what? How are we just going to get married? We need a priest Gerard.” I reminded him , trying to sort this all out in my head the way he had done.

“Brian’s sister Lilly is an ordained minister, she can marry us.” Gerard said happily, practically bouncing up and down he was so excited. I felt myself smiling widely as I realized what this would mean.

“But what about our families? They’d miss the wedding if we did it tonight.” I said, thinking of Elodie and Gerard’s parents. Gerard shook his head fervently.

“I can’t wait for them to get here. I can’t wait anymore. Come on, let’s elope.” he urged me. I could see the excitement in his shining hazel eyes. I could feel his joy spread to me at the idea of being his wife in just a few hours time.

“Oh my god!” I giggled, covering my smiling mouth with my finger tips. Gerard laughed with me, kissing my forehead and cheeks over and over again.

“This is going to be great, I promise.” He said, pressing his lips to my head again.

THAT NIGHT

It was after the show ad I was shaking I was so nervous and excited. My stomach felt like it was filled with thumb tacks and my teeth were chattering so loud I sounded like some kind of wind up toy. Mikey had come back to the tour bus to help me get ready while Gerard and everybody else got situated in backstage area.

Mikey was lacing up the corset part of my dress as tight as it would go, which was very painful and difficult, but also felt good in a weird bondage sort of way. I was choking and leaning over the side of the tiny counter. I tried to apply a bit more make up but it was nearly impossible with Mikey’s knee in my back as he tugged and pulled as hard as he possibly could.

“There! You look gorgeous.” He said triumphantly, panting a little from all his efforts. I backed up to get a better look at myself in the mirror and couldn’t hold back the gasp.

I don’t think I had ever looked like this before. My hair was in a perfect up do. My make up was fabulous and the dress was the icing on the cake. I shuddered a little at the thought of how Gerard would react to seeing me in this get up.

“Well, what do you think?” Mikey asked from behind me. Suddenly, my eyes welled up with happy tears and I swung my arms around his neck to hug him, nearly knocking him to the ground.

“Hey, no crying yet. You’ll ruin your make up.” he said, brushing the tears off my cheeks before they smudged my eyeliner. He was like the sassy gay friend that I never had.

“You look like a princess.” he smiled at me, giving me another hug. The word “brother” passed through my mind as we hugged. We would be brother and sister soon, and that made me extremely happy.

“I feel like a princess.” I agreed, giving myself one last look in the mirror. I took a big breath in and tried to repress the excited tremors that were passing through me.

“Come on, your prince is waiting.” Mikey said, taking my arm and leading me out of the tour bus.

We walked through to backstage were everybody was standing around in a great crowd. They were all staring at me, all those eyes burning holes right through me. I felt like I would be reduced to nothing but ash by the time I got to our make-shift alter. The crowd parted as I walked by, every smiling kindly at me as I Mikey and I passed through. I smiled back, but kept my mouth closed to stop my chattering teeth.

When I saw Gerard and Lilly standing up there my knees buckled and I almost fell over, but Mikey kept me balanced and marched me up there. The way Gerard’s eyes were shining as he stared at me, smiling as wide as I’d ever seen. The way he looked in his stage clothes, not having had the time to change since the show. This may not have been the wedding I thought it would be, but it was in fact my dream wedding.

By the time I was standing in front of Gerard, tears of joy were streaming down my cheeks. To my surprise, Gerard looked like he was about to cry from happiness too. He took my hands in his and I choked up even more. Everybody “awed” at my emotional reaction.

“We are gathered here today to celebrate the union of Gerard Arthur Way and Babette Melanie Wells in holy matrimony.” Lilly began. I tuned her out for a while, taking time to soak up this incredible feeling I had in my chest. I looked into Gerard’s bright eyes and laughed a little I was so happy.

“You two may exchange your vows.” Lilly said, gesturing to Gerard first. He cleared his throat and a little and nodded, still smiling.

“Babes, everyday I love you more and more. Its like my entire worlds revolves around you. You’ve made me the happiest man in the world by just being yourself. I love you, and I will always love you.” He said gazing in to my eyes. I shook with a little happy sob. Then Lilly gestured to me.

“Gerard, when I’m with you the world seems like such a perfect place. You taught me to see the beauty in everything. And suddenly my life doesn’t seem like such a waste anymore. And no matter what happens or however bad things get know that you can count on me to love a support you.” I promised. Gerard had to wipe his eyes and so did I.

“Gerard, do you take Babette Melanie Wells to be your lawful wedded wife?” Lilly asked Gerard.

“I do.” he beamed, not taking his eyes off me.

“And Babette, do you take Gerard Arthur Way to be your lawful wedded husband?” Lilly asked, turning to me. I nodded fervently.

“And then some.” I said breathlessly. The crowd chuckled a little and Lilly grinned at us.

“Alright, I now pronounce you man and wife. Gerard, you may kiss your bride.” Lilly said, closing the Bible she held in her hands.

Gerard scooped me up in his arms, shoved his lips up against mine and dipped me backwards, deepening our first and extremely passionate first kiss and husband and wife.

“Let’s party!” Frank exclaimed from somewhere in the back. Gerard and I reluctantly pulled apart and everybody cheered and clapped.

And from that night, and every night after it, we were married.

Bob set up the CD we’d made of songs we planned on playing. Everybody moved aside so we could have the first dance all to ourselves. The first track was “Come What May”. Gerard put his hands on my waist and led me around the floor, both of us dancing like we were in Junior High again. I was still crying happy tears.

“Never knew I could feel like this.
Its like I’ve never seen the sky before.
Want to vanish inside your kiss.
Ever day I’m loving you more and more.
Listen to my heart, can you hear it sing,
Telling me to give you everything?
Seasons may change, winter to spring,
But I love you, until the end of time.

Come what may, come what may.
I will love you,
Until my dying day…

Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place.
Suddenly it moves with such a perfect grace.
Suddenly my life doesn’t seem such a waste.
It all revolves around you.
And there’s no mountain too high,
No river too wide.
Sing out this song and I’ll be there by your side.
Storm clouds may gather and stars may collide,
But I love you, until the end of time.

Come what may, come what,
I will love you,
Until my dying day.
Oh, come what may. Come what may.
I will love you, until my dying day.”

We twirled and spun around to the soft lovely piano. My heart was in a whirl and my head was spinning. It was the happiest day of my life, there was no doubt about it. I rested my head on Gerard’s shoulder, crying into his shirt quietly and joyfully. Gerard sung the sweet lyrics deftly into my ear so that only I could hear him.

When the song finished out everybody else joined us with their partner, slow dancing in time with Gerard and I. The track list was “Shiva” by the Antlers, “All I Ask Of You” from Phantom Of The Opera, “The Part Where You Let Go” by Hem, and “Anyone Else But You” by the Moldy Peaches. The soundtrack to our wedding was a hit with everybody.

After the CD finished, the boys and I piled back onto the tour bus to head for our hotel. The guys said that they would sleep in the bus and let us have the hotel room so we could have proper wedding night, which we were grateful for. The tiny British in was quaint and cozy and very comfortable. Gerard picked me up wedding style and carried me into the room, both of us laughing madly.

“I’m going to go take this corset off before I choke to death.” I said, still laughing. Gerard smiled and kissed me on the mouth before I headed into the bathroom to slip into something a little more…comfortable.

I managed to unlace the corset and found it a wondrous relief to be able to breathe normally again. I took off the heels and checked to make sure my feet weren’t bleeding. I took off my tear-smudged make up and started looking through the tiny suitcase I had brought for the night.

There it was, in all its glory; a tiny, lacey, frilly black negligee complete with black lace robe and silk stalkings. Elodie had mailed it to me saying that “it might come in handy”. I had rolled my eyes at the time but she was right. It took a while to untangle the damn thing with all its lace and frills and what not. But when I had it figured out and put on, I looked in the mirror and was amazed at what I saw. I had to hold myself back from sprinting out to bedroom because I was so excited for Gerard to see me in it.

“Oh Gerard…” I said slyly, extending one leg from behind the wall so that all he could see was a single silk stalking. I craned my neck so that I could see him without him seeing me. His eyebrows were half way up his forehead, which made me smirk.

Slowly, I sauntered over to the center of the room, right in front of the bed. I was standing on my tip toes to make it seem like I was wearing high heels. Carefully I unhooked my stalkings from the garters and one by one slid them down my legs. Then I dropped the lacey robe to the floor and pushed it aside with my foot. Next off came the black brassiere, but not without a little teasing first. I turned my back and removed it, holding it out like a prize before letting it fall to the floor. Then I turned around, still covering my breasts with my arm. Gerard watched me, wide eyed and smiling all the while. I didn’t know where any of this was coming from, but it just seemed to be the right thing to do on my wedding night. I went and slid off the black rhinestone thong next, leaving my breasts exposed. I was completely naked as I approached the bed, walking slowly and as sensually as I could.

“You’re amazing…” Gerard whispered in my ear as I carefully climbed on top of him. He was ready and so was I.

What a night! What a beautiful, sexy, romantic night! I think I had the best orgasm of my life, simply because I was now having sex with my husband. And I was pretty sure Gerard felt the exact same way.

We fell asleep locked in each other’s arms that night, determined never to let one another go…
