“Frank, it hurts!” I whined, the week was over and I was trying o get out of the hospital bed with some aid from Frank.

“I know, sweetie, just try, please.” Frank begged, his eyebrows pulled together in concern as I held my breath to stop from squealing, and wiggled the last few inches off the bed and onto the cold floor. The nurses had already got me dressed into sweat pants and a baggy T-shirt which is all I’m allowed to wear for five whole weeks.

“Okay.” I breathed, steadying myself on Frank’s shoulders as I stretched my legs, taking a few tentative steps towards him before releasing most of my weight onto him as my stomach was racked with the intense pain that movement caused.

“Mikey!” Frank squealed as my brother ran through the door and helped me to stand up straight and I squeezed my eyes shut, waiting for the dizziness to pass and my legs to regain the sensation of how to walk properly.

“Are you okay Gee?” Mikey asked and I nodded, sighing and taking a few wobbly steps towards the door, sensing my brother and boyfriends worried glances on me.

“I can walk now.” I told them, taking Frank’s hand in my left and Mikey’s in the right as we walked out of the door, my legs feeling alien after not using them for a week and the skin around my stitches stretching and contracting as it got used to the new movement, luckily only causing a dull throbbing pain that was bearable to the point of near ignorable as I walked out of the Intensive Care unit to the corridor where my Mom and best friends were waiting.

“Hey, Gee.” Ray said, giving me a light hug just before Bob got one in and smiling at me.

“Hi guys, I’m all better.” I said, smiling back at them and squeezing the hands of the two boys besides me tightly.

“I wouldn’t go that far just yet, you still have four weeks or so to go before you’re fully fixed.” Ray said, grabbing my bag from Frank as we started to walk slowly down the corridor.

“Yeah, whatever.” I said and rolled my eyes, laughing lightly as we walked towards the car.

The car ride was awkward, Mikey kept on turning round to me from the front seat and smiling like he knew something I didn’t… it was very unnerving. My Mom kept looking at me from the rear view mirror and then looking back at the road again when she saw me looking, Frank was just grinning like a maniac and bouncing his foot and Ray was texting away furiously on his battered Sony Ericson; he likes them because they’re ‘clicking phones’ basically, they have buttons that make a clicking sound when you text. For some reason, he finds that he really likes that though when he texts just for the sound of it his obsession does become annoying.

We pulled up outside our house and Frank was practically buzzing, talking so fast and giggling pure nonsense even as we walked up to the front door and unlocked it. I walked in first and turned on the lights.

“Welcome home Gee!” Bob screamed and pulled me into a hug along with Chris and Sarah (the girl from the bra shop).

“Hey guys, damn it’s good to be home!” I laughed and Chris nodded.

“We were so worried.” She said, beaming at me as I grinned back, showing all of my small white teeth.

“Hey, Gee. I see your wearing the new bra’s, they look great on you!” Sarah commented and I blushed.

“Thanks, why are you here anyway?” I asked, hoping I didn’t sound rude.

“Oh, I’m with Bob.” She smiled as he wrapped his arm around her, they really do make the perfect couple actually.

“We have cake!” Chris yelled and danced off to the kitchen, dragging me and Frank with her where a cream and strawberry jam sponge was sitting on the table, iced with white rolled out icing and ‘Welcome Home Gee’ written on it in black icing with black and red icing bats decorating it.

“Aw, thanks Chris.” I said hugging her as she chuckled.

“I knew it was your favourite.” She smiled and I nodded.

“Ever since you made some in catering class in High School.” I remembered and she beamed.

“You remembered.”

“Of course I did, we cut it up with Mikey’s ruler and shared it all at break, even the little icing bats.” I smiled and she nodded.

“Try a bit?” She asked, picking up a knife and cutting the cake.

“You bet.” I said, sitting down on Frank’s lap at the table as my friends, brother and Mom joined us, stuffing our faces with probably the most delicious cake in the world.

“Wow, this is so good.” I said, my mouth full of cake.

“You nearly beat Frank at cooking.” Mikey said and Frank blushed.

“Don’t lie Mikes, I burn everything and call it Cajun.” He said, picking off one of the icing bats and nibbling it delicately.

“Yeah right, you’re cooking dinner tomorrow and then we’ll see who’s right.” Mikey said and Frank rolled his eyes but nodded.

The next few hours were spent talking random nonsense and giggling from the sugar rush the cake had provided us with.

“I’m going to bed.” I yawned, standing up and stretching carefully.

“I think I’ll hit the sack too.” Frank said as I kissed my mother and my little brother good night and ruffled Ray’s hair.

“Night guys.” Everyone said as we disappeared down into my basement bedroom, closing the door behind us and flicking the light on.

“Wow.” I said, taking a look around. There was another wardrobe where all Frank’s clothes were, his guitar was propped up in the corner by his amp and his I Pod had joined mine on the bedside table.

“Bless Mikey, he’s so sweet.” Frank said, taking my hand and pulling me across the room, to my, sorry, our bed.

“He even folded us our pyjamas.” Frank said as he picked up his, a black T-shirt and red and black checked pyjama pants.

“He’s nice like that.” I smiled as I slipped on my skeleton all in one sleeper suit as Frank dressed in his pyjamas and dived under the thick black duvet.

I flicked the light off and joined him, allowing him to curl up against my side and lay his head on my chest as my eyes slid shut. I could definitely get used to waking up and falling asleep with Frankie.
