Ryan opened his eyes slowly. The room was dimly lit, and seemingly empty. He could see otherwise as soon as he sat up. There was a group of people, about five of them, a stack of cards on the floor. Each person had some cards in their hands, and were fairly young. He knew some of them, Lee, Tatiana, Rii, but it's hard to know everyone when you have a group as large as the cirque. A hand went up to Ryan's head as he tried to remember what had happened.
He was tired, an essence of dread washing over him. It was freezing in the small room, the five talking as they played. Rii was smoking, passing it over to anyone who wanted it. There were no windows in the room, making it impossible to tell the time. He wondered how long it would take for someone else in the room to notice that he was up. Ryan's mind was a hazy mess. The main thing he couldn't help but think of was what was going to happen. Something wasn't....right. It wasn't the atmosphere, or the way the other kids in the room talked in hushed voices..There was something wrong with him. And it made him feel sick. Lee glanced over at him and spoke.
"The little one's up." The rest of the group turned their attention to Ryan, who was shaking from the cold air.
"Good to see you're awake finally." Rii said as he rolled his eyes.
Ryan spoke, "And how long have I been out exactly?"
"A day and a half." One of the girls that he didn't recognize said as she looked at her cards. The others did the same, going back to what they had been doing before hand. Ryan looked around and his brows furrowed.
"Where's Brendon?" Tatiana glanced up at him before looking back down at her cards while speaking.
"Someone go get Brendon." One of the people that Ryan didn't know stood and walked out of the room.
"What happened?"
"You know, you really ask way to many questions." Rii said as he looked at Ryan, cigarette hanging from between his lips.
"Why don't you guys go ahead and leave, I'm going to talk to Ryan alone." Tatiana said slowly as she put the cards down. The others got up and walked out of the room, silently obeying her request. "How about I tell you a story?" Ryan nodded once, crossing his legs as he sat across from the rust-red headed girl.
"There once was a happy couple, rich and powerful. After years of living a happy life together, they decided it was time for a child. When the baby girl was born, they realized that something was dreadfully wrong with her. She had a small tail, and snub spikes running down her spine. They knew that they couldn't have a child like that ruining their good family name, and so they sent her to an orphanage.
"The young girl spent all her days inside, hiding from all of the other teasing kids. She spent her childhood alone, growing to learn that there was more to her than the wings and tail that had started to grow. One day while she was eating lunch with the other orphans, something happened. Something that to this day no one can explain. You see, that day, after a group of kids had made fun of the young girl, a small fire had started in the middle of the room, directly where their table was. The flames engulfed everything, harming five of the other people in the room.
"It didn't take much time after for someone to come and take the girl. She soon found herself submersed with people like her. Where the odd and unusual could live without being terrified of being teased, or beaten, or in some cases, killed. The girl soon decided that this was home It would be from that day, and everyday on, the girl felt safe. At ease with her new family of freaks."
Ryan stayed silent, looking into her bright pink eyes. She was looking down at her hands, her large eyes starting to water.
"Is that what happened to you?" Ryan whispered the words, not wanting to make anything worse.
"Yeah." She sniffled a little, wiping the tears from her eyes. Ryan pulled her into a hug, pushing back her long hair.
"You know, no matter how many times I hear that story, it's always so depressing." Brendon was kneeling down next to Tatiana, his eyes shinning with love. Ryan and Brendon both hugged her, comforting the older female as she cried. It didn't take her long to calm down and stop crying. She pulled out of the almost bone crushing hug that Ryan and Brendon were giving her.
"I'm just going to leave you two alone now." She said as she stood.
"Go find Lee darling." Brendon said as he looked up at her. She nodded once, walking towards the door.
"You left me." Ryan said as he pulled his legs up to his chest.
"Ryan, I can't stay with you all hours of everyday. I have things I have to do."
"I know..."Ryan leaned against Brendon. "But somethings happening."
Brendon was silent for a moment. "What do you mean?"
"Somethings happening...I can feel it."
"Where?"
"In me..There's something wrong. Almost like something's been laying dormant and has just manged to break free." Brendon stayed silent, staring at the older male. His hair was messy from days of sleep, deep bags under his dull honey eyes. He was shaking slightly, chills running up and down him as he curled into himself. He looked thin, and Brendon couldn't help but wonder if he was hungry.
"How about we go find something to eat, okay?" Ryan nodded, being pulled up to his feet by Brendon, who found a jacket amongst a pile of clothing. He handed it to Ryan who gave him a smile as he put it on.

Well this chapter is kind of a disappointment based on how bloody long it took me to get it up only to have it be a few paragraphs long. Really sorry about that.

Katrina_Adams:The next one should be better and longer. Hopefully. Anyway, I'm glad you like it.

marissasorrentino:I speak Latin, and Japanese, and a small amount of French, German, Chinese, and Spanish. Because I have other friends that speak all of them so I have to know at least a little bit of each one.

PartyPoison:I'll admit, I love Rii and he will be in a lot of chapters. Along with Tatiana and Lee. And I'm still not sure where exactly this story will go. I have ideas for it, but I don't want it to be like everything else.
I did ask for the characters, so it's only fitting that I use them. Right?

LePanicFan:That makes me feel better. I really don't need someone exploding on me, my parents already think I'm a murderer.
There's a lot to them that's going to be added, but you're not going to know for a few chapters. I still have to figure out what's going to happen.
