Escape and Return!

The story I mentioned is "Done a Runner" by fantasyra, http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5898228/1/ , and has some other interesting touches. As I said, very faintly reminiscent of the trick they use there to get from Britain to the US. I'm quite enjoying the backgrounds you're using here and I'm looking forward to more.Author's response
Thanks! I'll be sure to read it soon

Hiya Doc! Glad to see you back!
One of the things I've liked about a lot of your stories is the rich cultures you've created...(Especially your time-travel stories and the To The Rescue series)...It looks like you're adding more flavor to the culture you already created with TTR with this one...I will be fascinated to see where you take this one and will be eagerly awaiting your next update!Escape and Return!

Wonderful to see new work from you! Funnily enough I'd just finished a big 'Dr. T re-read' a couple of months ago. Maybe this is my reward. :-)
Interesting/weird how you've set up the Collective as being inaccessible to full magicals or muggles. Maybe Hermione will be part of a breakthrough that sees it opened up to all of humanity. In chapter 2 you've taken pains to state that it doesn't control its members, so hopefully there's no dangers in letting it grow.
I liked the image of Harry and Hermione materialising, unflustered and in control, when the tent was restored by the Americans. They're kids but also young adults, and the ... competence ... you've given them here is frankly nice to contemplate. They need help, they know it, but at least - unlike canon - they've done more than trust to luck, they were relatively on top of things.
Thank you for dabbling again in HP!Author's response
I wouldn't want to be part of the Collective myself -- the idea gives me the willies, sort of like the politician in chapter 2. I had invented them for a fic that fizzled out, but still wanted to use them. I think squibs deserve some respect! thanks as always for your thoughtsEscape and Return!

Interesting start. Another super-society in secret fic.
Just once, I'd like to see them treat our delinquents with something like the "Prime Directive" -- or a "Live and let Die (painfully)" attitude. ;)

Well, it would likely make for a short adventure!Escape and Return!

Wow! Just ran across your work today. The first chapter of this fix is fantastic. JKR's Eurocentricity has always bothered me. Under no circumstance I can imagine would the US govt, magical or mundane, not view Moldyshorts as a clear and present danger to the people and sovereignty of the US. There'd be the usual political knife fighting, but eventually the finding would be made. Here endeth the sermon ;-). Love the details about the collective - just had the 'how do you know you're not just a brain in a vat' conversation with my son last week, so it's particularly timely for me. Off to read the rest!Author's response
Thanks! I hope you enjoy the rest of the story!Escape and Return!

I'm DISGUSTED the International Confederation are actually planning - seemingly - to stand by and do nothing!! I'm also completely confused by the 'Collective' and this 'Gestalt'. How does it work, exactly? Sort of like SkyNet from Terminator, only without destroying the World?
