There was a warm draft blowing through the house, Shannon groaned n moved a little n then woke up, he sat up and looked around for Jared


"Jaaaaaay...?"

The door was open and orange footprints lead in the house, around the sofas and out again, Shann' started panicking, he stood with his arms crossed

"DUDE. MAKE YOURSELF PRESENT TO ME NOW OR ELSE!"

Just at that moment, there was a scratching sound coming from the window, he turned and saw the dust slowly falling away from the window and a happy, smiling Jared appear behind it, he waved vigorously, his grin widening at the sight of a relieved Shannon, Shann' slowly waved back and laughed at himself for being so ridiculous although he was annoyed at Jared for not leaving him a note or anything that told him where he was, times like those that where about to happen called for such safety measures, how was Shannon supposed to know that Jared hadn't been kidnapped by a Killjoy? The slightly peeved Shann' wandered outside to where Jared was cleaning the window

"hey bro, what you doooing?" he asked not really expecting a real answer from Jay

"what does it look like i'm doing? I'm cleaning this bloody window, no-one else is gunna do it n before you ask, no you can't do it for me because this is my house and i'm not letting my brother clean something that belongs to me"

it was obvious that Jared was struggling, he continued to scrape the quickly solidifying dust off the window until his spade got stuck, Jay took a breath in and forcefully attacked the spade

"bro, it's obvious it's stuck, let m--"

"NO! I CAN DO IT!"

A whole 5 minutes passed before Jared finally gave up and angrily sat down on the sand

"I hate being weak"

He scrunched up his face n crossed his arms

"yeah, you've made it clear that you do"

Shann' shook his head and continued

"you do realise that you can't be weak if you're in a war"

Jared may have been daft but he certainly wasnt an idiot

"YES! I'm not that stupid, man"

suddenly, a thought struck Jay and his face turned to the confused state it was in most of the time when he wasn't thinking

"Shannon, if the Killjoys have a leader then who's the Echelons' leader?"

Before Shann' could answer, there was a distant rumble and the ground shook violently

"oh...hey....heeeeey.....GROUND QUUUUUAAAAAKE!!"

Jared stumbled as he got up, Shannon was still sitting on the sand smiling to himself

"HELLO! CAN YOU NOT FEEL THE GROUND SHAKING!? WE. HAVE. TO. MOOOOOOOOOOVE!!"

Jared was down to the height Shann' was at, Jared grabbed his brothers' arm and started dragging him along the sand

"ARE YOU DEAF AND COMPLETLY OBLIVIOUS TO EVERYTHING THAT'S GOING ON?!?!?!"

The shaking was getting worse and Shannon still wasn't moving

"oh whatever"

Jared dropped his brothers' arm

"i'm going inside to make sure nothing has fallen off the shelves and broken"

Shannon got up, turned to face the opposite direction of the house and started laughing

"YES! I KNEW IT! I KNEW HE'D COME!"

Shann' started dancing, Jared took a few steps back and looked at Shannon

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING! GROUND QUAKES AREN'T MEANT TO BE LAUGHED AT!"

Jared charged at Shannon but just before he grabbed him, he saw what his brother was so happy about. In the distance was a fast approaching red 1969 Mercury Cougar, from a distance it looked pretty good knowing it had obviously been around for 50 years, but then it got into full eye shot and it was terrible, the paint had chipped, it was rusting horribly, the front bumper looked like it had been shot off, it was dented too and the noise it was making was a sure sign it was going to die soon, it was a total death trap. Jared could only watch in amazement as this abomination got closer

"Who the hell would be crazy enough to drive that, on a planet like this?!" Jared took a step forward so he was just infront of Shannon, he squinted

"oh it isnt...it ISNT!"

Shannon was clapping and squealing like a little girl

"YES! HE'S HEEEEREEEE!"

Jared slapped his hand to his face and took a breath out, he sat on the rock Shannon had been leaning against earlier

"I can't wait for this"

He shook his head is disbelief

"Shannon, why did you tell him to come here? WE HAVENT EVEN GOT ENOUGH ROOM FOR HIM!?"

There was no answer. Jared muttered to himself

"because if you told me i would have said no and bla bla bla bla..."

he continued to talk to himself unaware of the arrival of the car, the shaking stopped and the car broke hard infront of Shannon. The dented door opened and a strange man with long hair and sunglasses stepped out, he slammed the door and looked around

"Well hey!" he said happily, Shannon ran over and hugged him

"TOMO!!"

Jared looked up and smiled to himself

"oh I always knew you were gay bro"
