First day back at school and I’m already late, I can hear Mikey shouting for me to hurry up. I shoved my eyeliner into my bag- I can do it on the way. I ran down the stairs and almost straight into my mom who was running around, trying to clean the already-spotless house. ‘Don’t forget we have the people who moved in round the block coming over tonight, the Ieros, I think.’ She called, as if I cared. ‘They have a son, about your age, he’s starting at your school today’ I paused at the door, I don’t even know why, but suddenly my mood lifted.
‘Bye mom!’ I shouted as I shut the door, run to catch up with Mikey, slinging my bag over my shoulder.

I hate school. I don’t see any point in it. It’s a place where all the pretty girls can show off, a place where jocks rule and take advantage of what they can, clever people are ripped to shit for being smart and outcasts are beat up on a regular basis unless you have mastered the art of shrinking into the shadows un-noticed. I’ve gotten pretty good at that recently. I used to get my head kicked in daily by the knuckle heads at this hell hole, one of the worst was Tom redwood and his cronies, until I met Emily (my best friend) she was one of those stereotypical rock chicks, she had bright red bangs and always wore tight jeans and band tops. She was always being asked by preppy girls for her to sit with them. ‘Sit with us Emily, you know you want to.’ Or ‘c’mon Emily, you can do better than him.’ I wasn’t harassed when I was with her, because the jocks didn’t want to miss a chance on her. But she stayed loyal...right up until she moved states. She lives in Arizona now, we keep in touch sometimes, but it’s not the same. People forgot about me when she moved, I was left to slip out of the limelight. I miss Emily, but I really need to focus. I switched my mind back to the lesson; the teacher was at the front, droning on about acids and stuff. Chemistry was a bore, when it was finally over, I went to art. Art is one of my favourite subjects. I sat at the back, pulled out my sketchpad and started drawing. I could feel eyes on my back, I turned round to see who it was, but I was distracted instantly by a boy. He wasn’t very tall and had dark black hair with a bit of flaming red; His face was so perfect I could have cried. He sat in the empty seat next to me and held out his hand,
‘Hi, I’m frank, Frank Iero.’ I think I’m in love.
