Of course that warm feeling I had in the pit of my stomach because of my new found friends, quickly turned into annoyance at the insistent questions that my mother kept asking about my first day.
“Whats the new school like?”
“How are your classes? What do you have?”
“Met any nice people?”
“Boys? What sort of boys?”
“Do you like any of them? Did you have sex?!” At that last question I froze, trying to decide whether to throw up, poke her really hard in the arm or scream until she went away.
“Oh. My. God. Mum, shut up!”
“You did have sex!”
“No. No, Mum, I didn’t have sex on my first day at school with people I’d just met. Neither did I get hooked on cocaine, become an alcoholic or get pregnant. Although considering the sex thing, that’s pretty self explanatory.” She sent me a death glare and snorted at my sarcastic little retort.
“Well I was just being interested in your first day, dear.”
“Mum, there’s a difference between being interested and writing a biography.” I chuckled at the old evil eye look and threw my arms around her waist. “Love you too.” She returned the hug, with a small attempt at keeping the squint in her eye and the frown on her face, before bursting into giggles which she smothered in my hair.
“Yeah, yeah, I love you too, kiddo.” I scuttled upstairs before she could start asking questions about my new ‘boyfriends’ again. Same old routine; burst through my door, plugged my speakers in, chucked a CD in the player and stuck on my big headphones, drowning out the surrounding sounds of birds and mowing neighbours. I sighed in relief as Avenged Sevenfold pounded through my head, blasting out any semblance of thought or feeling.
Half an hour later, I felt my right ass vibrate causing the rest of the bed to shake underneath me. Ooh, text.
‘Lilyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. Open your bedroom window.’ Oh God. Frank is outside, my window obviously, staring at me. In my pyjamas. Sprawled on my bed. I can only thank Beetlejuice that I had clothes on.
“Hey Lil.” I opened my window and he crawled onto my floor like it was the more normal thing in the world.
“Urrrrr.” Oh yes, I’m a master of intelligent conversation. “Hey? Um Frank?”
“Yeeeees?”
“Why’d you climb up to my window and are now lying on my floor?” I stared at my new favourite guitarist.
“I climbed up to your window so you wouldn’t have to go downstairs and open the door and I’m lying on your floor ‘cause it’s tiring to climb a tree.” Ah, of course. Frank got up and dragged me to the bed, plonking himself down next to me. “So... What ya doing?”
“Well my strange little friend, I was listening to music before you so rudely made my ass vibrate.” Oh, good choice of words there, Lily. Frank chuckled at me, cocking his eyebrow in a suggestive way.
“Oh my.”
“Shutup, Frank.” I rolled over onto my stomach and looked up at him sitting against my headboard as he stared around my room in abject fascination. My room is pretty awesome if I do say so myself; three silver walls and on the fourth is a mural of the blood moon, black plush carpeting, plus too many posters, DVDs and CDs to count.
“Woahh.”He breathed under his breath. “Ooh DVDs?” He looked at me questioningly, waiting.
“Yeah you can go look.” I laughed at him as he zipped across my room to read the titles, running his finger along the sides. He squealed as he ripped one of them out of the place and practically threw himself on top of me, shoving the cover so close to my face that my eyes crossed and everything was blurry.
“Frank. If you get any closer to me, that DVD will be up my nose. Also, I can’t see the title.”
He squealed again and moved away slightly, still sitting on me, until I could read without going blind. “Nightmare Before Christmas. I love that film.”
“Me too!”
“Well no duh, Frankie. You picked it out from the other hundred I have and pushed it into my brain.” He bounced on top of my stomach and grinned manically at me. “Wanna watch it?”
“Yessssssssss!” I giggled and pushed him onto the floor, grabbing the DVD as he fell, and skipping my way over to the DVD player and TV, shoving the CD in before settling back on the bed, watching Frank pull himself back up next to me. About halfway through the film I ended up lying on his stomach while he stroked my hair, slightly weird I know considering we’d met that morning but Frank was my boyfriend with a space separating the two words. Actually he was more like a boyf. More than just a boy but not part of the ‘riend’ equation. Gotta love English.
“I love love love love love love love love love that film.” Frank sighed as the end credits rolled up the screen.
“Do you love that film, Frankie?” I giggled, rolling off him and shoving in “Halloween”, scuttling back to the bed and throwing myself onto the duvet, squishing back up to the warm body next to me. A couple of hours, and far too many horror films and scary moments later, Frank managed to drag himself home, complaining that he’d never be able to sleep again and claiming excitement about seeing me as soon as the clock hit 8 the next morning. Oh yes, he’s picking me up from home and walking me to school. I have a school buddy. I swear I feel like I’m about five right now.
I chuckled to myself and smiled as I felt sleep hitting me like a ton of bricks.

Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang.
If Frank knocked on the door any louder, his fist would go straight through the wood. I opened the door and was immediately hit by a blur of human and a sweep of black hair appeared in my face.
“Hi Frankie.” I mumbled, most of my greeting getting stuck in his hair.
“Hi!” Wait a minute. There’s more than one voice. I peered from behind the dweeb currently attached to my front and saw the remaining three of our little group smiling back at me. Ray managed to drag Frank off me and I grabbed my bag, threw it across my shoulder and skipped past them, only stopping to halt at the gate as they caught up with me. Frank linked arms with me and dragged me squealing and skipping down the road, the others barely catching up with us until we hit a green traffic light and had to stop. By that time I had to stop, hands on my knees, in order to breathe heavily and not have a heart attack. Suddenly, my feet left the floor and I was being cradled in Bob’s (muscular, drummer like... mmm) arms, staring up at the sky and his face.
“Er... Hello.” He chuckled.
“Thought it’d be easier on your lungs if I carried you. Wanna piggy back ride?” I smiled sweetly up at him and nodded, causing him to chuckle again. He put my feet back down on the floor and turned around, bending his knees slightly so I could climb onto his back and he curled his arms underneath my knees. As he got to the other side of the road, I threw my arms up in the air and cheered.
“Weeeeeeeee! No arms!” He stopped, laughing, and dipped back slightly, making me scream and wrap my arms tightly around his chest and bury my face in his neck. “Bob, nooooo.”
“You stop touching me and I’ll dip you, easy as that.” I giggled as the other three stopped and stared at him, his eyes going wide. “Urrrrr...”
“That’s okay, Bob. I like touching you.” I watched as the side of his face that I could see blushed bright red, assuming that the rest of his face was that colour too. “Awh, even Mikey didn’t go that red when he first tried talking to me!” Mikey glared up at my high spot on Bob’s back as the rest of us laughed.
I could see the gates of hell approaching us slowly and pulled back slightly on my drummer’s back, folding my arms even tighter around him. “Don’t wanna go to school, guys. Don’t make meeee.” I pouted at them as they turned to face me. They just smiled at me and kept dragging me forward to our doom.
“Whats the new school like?”
