It's nearing the end of November, people are bustling along the highstreet, shopping ofr christmas gifts already. My Misfits hoodie isn't thick enough to stop me shivering in the cold wind, so I quickly duck inside the music store. The guy on the desk smiles and nods at me, I grin back and shuffle over to the discount shelf. I think about what's happened over the past month or so. I've been bullied, pushed around, found a friend, fallen in love, set my friends up together, broken them apart and then got them back together again. It's all happened to quickly. We're all happy now though. Grace has Ray, Ray had Grace, and I have both of them. Despite what happened, we're closer than we ever were before now. I smile to myself. I'm over Grace now. I never want to come between her and Ray again, they're too good for eachother. I'm lucky I guess. Aiden and his gang still push me around, call me gay and have made up a new game of "Who can put the most pictures of topless men in Frank's locker". It's hard, but I don't feel alone anymore.
The door beeps as another customer comes in, but I'm too lost in my own thoughts to even turn around. I pick up the latest Black Flag album and fumble around in my pocket for my wallet. Someone walks straight into the back of me, and I jump.
"Oh, god, sorry!" I hear a voice behind me, and I shift sideways, my hand still jammed in my jeans pocket, trying to juggle the CD at the same time.
"Sorry...I was miles away, I didn't mean to bump into you."
The voice belongs to a girl, about my age. Her hair is black and in a bob style. She's wearing a leather jacket, black fingerless gloves and wine coloured skinny jeans. She smiles, " It's okay" I grin, and notice she has the very familiar Misfits skull print on her shirt. She also picks up the album and walks to the cashier, waving her fingers at me. I wave back, then look away shyly. She does the same, handing her money over the counter. I wait until she's about to leave, then go and pay myself. I see her hesitate by the door, and as I walk towards her, it feels really awkward. "Erm.. look...I don't really do this but if you want to meet up some time here's my number..." I mumble, scrabbling in my pocket for a pen. She holds her palm out gingerly, ducking her head down, her fringe hiding her eyes. "Thanks... I'll text you or something." She says, smiling and hurrying out of the door. I see her stop at the end of the block to look at her palm and smile. I walk away in the opposite direction. I text Grace quickly:
I just bumped into a girl :D
She texts back immediately:
You have got to stop doing that, look where it got you last time! Good luck dude!
Well, at least this would stop the gay rumors...
