Jared’s POV
Gwen left an hour ago after cracking a window by the front door of her house and shattering then punching the driver’s window of her car. She seemed okay this morning. Then left alone for a few minutes with Lisa, she became a raging bull. I mean I heard her scream ‘Fuck you” but I just shook it off. After she left she left, I thought she was just pissed and needed to calm down, but it’s been a fucking hour. I stormed back into Gwen’s bedroom, where Lisa was pacing.
“What the fuck did you do?” she stopped short and just stared at me. I walked up to her and got right in her face, “What. The. Fuck. Did. You. Do?” I growled. Lisa shoved me away and began pacing once again.
“I didn’t do shit! Okay?! She just has been doing what she’s supposed to!” she shook her head and muttered something under her breath.
“I’m confused,” I raised an eyebrow at her. She halted and looked at me with a worried expression.
“It’s not my place to tell you, but it will be if we don’t find her,” she whispered with a grave tone. I couldn’t suppress the shiver that ran down my back as Lisa dashed past me. I followed her to the living room where Shannon, Tomo and Vicki had worried expressions.
“Guys we need to go find Gwen. She is not in her right mind and since she has never been gone this long before, this could end very badly,” she stated, taking everyone aback including me, “Don’t fucking stare at me like that, we have to find her!” Shannon had the car keys so he fished them out of his pocket and rushed to the front door with everyone.
“Wait somebody needs to say behind just in case she comes back while we are looking for her,” Vicki chirped. We all looked at each other, deciding who should go.
“I’ll stay behind,” Shannon spoke up, tossing the keys at me. I nodded and made my way to the driver’s side of the black SUV. Lisa hopped in the passenger’s side and Tomo and Vicki got in the back seat. I made a u-turn and headed towards downtown Long Beach. She could be anywhere but it’s a start.
I stopped at a park in the middle of downtown and turned off the car. We all split up each taking a cardinal direction.
“Remember everywhere is a possibility and we’ll meet up back here in thirty minutes,” Lisa said before she took off east.
I went in the northern direction looking everywhere. I searched in every store, asking if they’ve seen Gwen or her car. I checked every black punch buggy for the tinted windows or Gwen but had no luck.
“Oh my God! That’s Jared Leto!” someone’s shrill voice screamed. I heard several other screams and took off. I didn’t want to be talking to fans right now. After about a two blocks of running, I ducked into bookstore. A mob of girls and a few boys past the front of the store just a few seconds later and I sighed in relief. I decided to lay low for a while.
“Okay, it’s been fifteen minutes are you gonna buy something or what?” I muttered a ‘Sorry’ at the guy, the clerk, who had acne and braces. I rose from my spot on the floor in the back and looked at my watch. Shit! Forty-five minutes past. I dashed out the store and towards the park where everyone would meet up.
I was nearing the park when I noticed a black buggy; I didn’t really pay it any mind but then it hit me that it had tinted windows. I jogged back to and looked inside. Gwen’s phone sitting on the passenger seat was a dead giveaway. Turned to the building the car was parked in front of and arched a brow. A pet shelter?
I walked inside and to the front desk.
“Hello, how may I help you?” the woman asked with a seductive tone. She was an attractive woman but I wasn’t in the mood.
“I’m looking for my girlfriend,” I put emphases on the word ‘girlfriend’, “She has black hair with chocolate brown eyes an-”
Just then, Gwen emerged from the back room with a little blue dog. She looked much happier than she did earlier. Her right hand that was holding the leash to the dog had bandages on the knuckles.
“Gwen,” she looked at me in shock, and then she smiled.
“Hey, Jared what are you doing here?” she questioned cocking her head to the side in confusion. It was quite adorable.
“Could be asking you the same thing?” she glanced down at the dog then back at me.
“I just adopted Czechoslovakia. He’s a Great Dane.” She bent down and petted the dog’s head.
“Why?”
“I always wanted a Great Dane, the bastards never let me have one.” Despite the dark tone of her statement she still had a huge smile on her face. She seemed like she was high.
“Well Tomo, Vicki, Lisa, and I were looking for you. Can you drop me off at the truck?” she agreed and headed outside.
She put the little dog in the back seat and drove to the truck with my directions. When we got there, Lisa, Tomo, and Vicki were huddled up in front of the truck and they looked up when Gwen honked at them. They all had looks of relief; well everyone except Lisa. She stormed up to the driver’s window and knocked on it. Gwen rolled the window down with an expression of a child who knew they were about to get grounded.
“When we get back, you have some explaining. To everyone,” I gave the car keys to Lisa as if to say ‘I’m gonna ride with her’ she nodded and walked back to the SUV. She handed the keys over to Tomo who knew the city better and got in the back seat.
“Uh how do I get back to my house?” Gwen asked with an adorable sheepish grin as she rolled her window back up. The puppy barked from the back seat, hopped onto the center console and then crawled into Gwen’s lap. She stroked the puppy’s coat and made a cute squeaky noise that made me what to kiss her.
Wait, what? I shouldn’t be acting like this; Gwen just wants sex, and if that’s all she wants, that’s all she’s going to get. But is that what I want? I commenced giving directions back to her house quietly as I had an internal battle with myself on whether or not I just want sex from Gwen.
