“MIKEY!” I shouted from inside my closet, “HELP ME!”

Mikey came barrelling down the stairs and burst into my room, baseball bat in hand. “Where are they, Gerard? Ill have them!” he sneered, waving the lump of wood around, almost smashing my lamp. “…the fuck? Gerard? Where are you?”

“I need to look good Mikey!” I whined, walking out of my closet.

Mikey dropped the bat onto my carpeted floor and shot me an irritated glare.

“You mean to tell me… you just screamed bloody. Fucking. Murder. Just to ask for my help to make you look good?” I nodded and sat down on my bed. Mikey rubbed his forehead, cursing under his breath and whipped around my room, collecting random articles of clothing before thrusting them into my arms. “Change into these, ill be back in a second,”

As promised, Mikey was back by the time I fitted into the tight clothing. He clutched the metal case in his frail hand and instructed me to sit down again.

“No, no, NO! I am not wearing makeup, Michael.” I glared at him as he tipped the contents onto my bed; eyeliners, foundation and hair products, scattering across the bedding.

“I thought you said you wanted to look good? I promise you, if you let me do this he wont know what hit him!” I grumbled an approval and he set to work.

He smeared eyeliner around my chocolate eyes and added white powder to my already ghostly complexion; making it looks porcelain smooth.

“Don’t tug on my hai- Ouch! Mikey that fucking hurts!”

“Well, if you bothered to bru-“the doorbell broke our squabble. I looked at him wide eyed and he gave me clap on the back. “Have fun, bro,” I slipped on my vans and tousled my hair before running up the stairs into the hallway. I checked my appearance in the mirror and pulled open the door; revealing a very nervous Frank.

“Wow…uhh… you-you look a-amazing!” he stuttered, pulling me into a delicate embrace.

“Thank you…” I murmured, blood rushing to my cheeks.

“I was thinking that we could get a takeout coffee then go to the park… that okay?” he pulled me out the door before I could answer and skipped down my driveway, hand still firmly in mine.

“Sure,” I giggled, letting Frank drag me down the street.

“It’s stunning today,” Frank murmured, taking a sip of his scalding coffee as we walked through the deserted park.

“It’s ‘cos you’re here,” I flashed him a grin before mirroring his actions. Just as the liquid touched my lips, Frank wrapped his arm around my waist, careful not to spill his coffee in the process. His empty hand clutched mine and he leant his head on my shoulder. “Dance with me,”

Thankfully, there’s no-one in the park to witness our awkward dance; each of us trying not to spill our coffees. I wiggled free of Frank’s embrace, skipping ahead but still dancing slightly. Frank soon began to run after me, grinning like a maniac.

There might be something outside your window
But you’ll just, never know
There could be something right past the turnpike gates

I pulled him into my arms and whispered in his ear:

But you’ll just never know

He grabbed my hands as we ran, occasionally stopping to bust a move. I started to sing louder, getting more comfortable with my voice

If my velocity starts to make you sweat
then just don’t let go
And if the heaven ain’t got a vacancy
then we just, then we just, then we just
then we just get up and go!

Our coffees were long forgotten, dropped on the grass as we ran together; grinning like idiots.

Ladies and Gentlemen:
Truth is now acceptable
Fame is now injectable
Process the progress
This core is critical
Faith is unavailable
Lives become incredible
Now please understand that,”

I shot off ahead of him, not looking back but knowing he was following me.

I can’t slow down
I won’t be waiting for you
I can’t stop now
Because I’m dancing
This planet’s ours to defend
Ain’t got no time to pretend
Don't fuck around this is our last chance

Just as I thought, the guitarist caught up to me, still laughing and smiling.

If my velocity starts to make you sweat
then just don’t let go
Cause the emergency room got no vacancy
and we just, and we just, and we just
and we just get up and go!

I held Frank in my arms, spinning him around before taking off across the open area once again.

Who they want you to be
who they wanted to see
Kill the party with me
and never go home
who they want you to be
who they wanted to see
Just leave the party with me
and never go home"

An elderly couple who were walking past the lake smiled at our display, before indulging in their own memories together.

You’re unbelievable
So unbelievable
You ruin everything
Oh you better go home
I’m unbelievable
Yeah, I’m undefeatable
Yeah, lets ruin everything
Blast into the back row
They sell presentable
Young, and so ingestible
Sterile and collectable
Safe and I can’t’ stand it
This is a letter, my word is the berretta
The sound of my vendetta
Against the ones that planned it

I pointed at each of us at the correct points in the song, moving teasingly close to his face and pecking his nose before dragging him in the opposite direction.

If my velocity starts to make you sweat
then just don’t let go
Cause the emergency room got no vacancy
Tell me who do you trust, do you trust
And we just get up and go!

Who they want you to be
who they wanted to see
Kill the party with me
and never go home
who they want you to be
who they wanted to see
Just leave the party with me
and never go home

We started to get tired and our movements slowed down, but the smiles never left our faces.

You keep eternity, give us the radio
Deploy the battery,
We’re taking back control
Engage the energy, light up the effigy
No chance to take it slow
By now I’m sure you know
Know, know know know
Get up and go!

Who they want you to be
Who they wanted to see
Kill the party with me
And never go home
Who they want you to be
Who they wanted to see
Just leave the party with me
And never go home

Are we still having fun?
Are you holding the gun?
Take the money and run
And never come back

I’ve got nothing to lose
You’ve got nothing to say
And we’re leaving today
We’ll never go home
Get up and go!
Go home

I pulled Frank down, lying on the grassy bank with him; each of us panting heavily.

“Holy shit, man! Did you write that?!” I hummed in agreement, closing my eyes and pulling the smaller man to me. “Gerard?”

“Yes Frankie boy?”

“I don’t wanna go home,” he whispered, pressing his lips to mine softly.
