Nikki's POV
“Did I mention how amazing he looked?” I hadn't been able to stop smiling since I saw him. I couldn't wait until tomorrow when I would see him again.
Danni sighed and stared at me, “Yes. You only mentioned it half a million times. I get the point. You like him.”
I could tell from the tone in her voice that something was wrong, “What's wrong?”
She shrugged and sat on the couch beside me, “Nothing... I just,” she paused, “I broke up with Cori. I knew we would be moving and I didn't want to have a long distance relationship.”
“We're not leaving for a while, you didn't have to do it now.” I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her to me.
She nodded, “I know,” she sighed, “We had a really bad fight when I told her that we were going to be moving, and I said some things that I shouldn't have.”
“Well, I promise you that everything will get better soon. Maybe after we move, you'll meet someone that you love more than Cori.” I rubbed my hand up and down her back.
She looked up at me and I could see the tears building, “Do you really think so?”
I nodded, “I know so.” I paused, “I thought I loved Stevie more than I could love anyone else in the whole world, but it turned out just to be a game to him. Now, I realize that I never really loved him in the first place, I just loved what he gave me.”
She hugged me, tightly, “I'm glad I have you for a sister. I don't know what I would do without you.”
I laughed, “I could say the same thing.”
We sat there for a while, just holding each other when Frank walked into the living room, “What's going on out here?” he asked.
“Just talking about love,” Danni smiled.
Frank nodded and sat down beside me on the couch, “Love sure is a wonderful thing, isn't it?”
I laughed, “Yea, if you ever find true love.”
He smiled and looked me in the eyes, “You want to know what true love is?” He paused and glanced away for a second, “True love is when every time you're around that person, it seems like everything in the world is better, like... you were made for each other,” he shook his head and I could see his cheeks reddening, “I guess it's hard to describe.”
Danni smiled,”Is that how you and dad are?”
Frank nodded, “Yes. When I'm with your dad, it's like nothing else matters. It's... perfection,” he nodded, “Yea, perfection.”
I sighed and shook my head, “Well, how do you know? How do you know when you love someone?”
He put his arm on my shoulder, “You'll know when you find it. I promise.”
“Frank! Can you help me with something?” I heard dad yell from the bedroom.
Frank laughed and stood up, “I'll be back.”
I nodded. I took a deep breath. More than anything I wanted someone to love. I wanted to find that one person that I couldn't live without. I wanted to be happy... I wanted to have the kind of relationship my dad and Frank have. That's what I wanted more than anything else.
Danni laughed, “Do what did this new guy look like again?”
I smiled, “He was gorgeous! There is no other way to describe him.”
She nodded, “What was his name?”
“Dustin. Dustin... something.” Tomorrow I needed to ask him what his last name was.
“Wait... Dustin Wentz?” Danni asked.
I shrugged, “I don't know. I didn't –“ I stopped. I knew he looked familiar... and that would explain the Fall Out Boy shirt. “How did you know that?”
She shrugged, “Lucky guess.” She stood up and walked to the computer. She got on the internet and searched Dustin Wentz. The first picture that popped up was him with Pete and Ashlee. I shook my head, I should have seen the resemblance. He looked just like Pete.
She laughed, “Looks like you have a crush on Pete Wentz's son.”
“Do you know where he goes to school?” I asked. I needed to know more about him.
“He was friends with Cori's brother, and they go to Central. So, I assume he goes to Central.” She closed the internet and turned off the computer.
I nodded, “That's where we start tomorrow, isn't it?”
“Sure is. We're only going there for a few months, but Dad wanted us to get away from everyone who might know something.” She stood up and walked back to the couch.
I nodded. This was perfect. Not only would I see him when he delivered the paper, but I would see him at school too. I knew we were moving, but it wasn't until summer. I had to make some friends in the meantime, and Dustin was a great way to start.
