Chapter 1
My life in Egypt
I am Zakaya Yahaya-Winner and this is my life story. I gain my last name very much later in life. Any way, I was born in a village near the outskirts of the town called Kemet in Egypt. I do not really remember who my parents were, because they died from a plague when I was probably 3 summers old. Someone from a different village found me roaming the village crying and not long after that, I was sold as a slave. The man that bought me was an innkeeper. He was at first nice and let me stay with a family so I could be taught how to be a slave or a servant. They were very nice and I enjoyed being around them. I do not really remember what the mother's name was but I do remember that she had daughter, who uses to call me big brother, whom I always called her, little sister. The mother also had a son by the name of Mahaya. Mahaya and I became fast friends. We also played pranks on his mother about every day. We would sometimes go to the Nile, and catch frogs and then put them in a basket. Then we would sneak in her bedchambers and put the frogs all over her bed and under the linings as well. We would just wait near her door just to find out how she reacted. She would scream and it would send us in fits of laughter.
Later on by the innkeeper, I learned that I had to start helping out. I was to clean tables, sweep floors, and clean some of the rooms in the Inn. It took me a while to learn how to do those chores but I was a fast learner. It started with those chores then it was something else entirely different. Soon he told me to go with some of the men or woman that stayed at the inn for a few nights, to certain rooms and do things with them. At first, I did not like it, but if I did not do them. They would belted me for just for disobeying. At first, I resisted but then he told me that if I did not comply it would be harder on one of my other friend, that worked there as well, that was same age of me. I learned fast and was the cause of the innkeeper to make a lot of money in that area. This lasted about at least two more summers until one of the Royal court of the Pharaoh saved me. Because I was tired from all the sessions with some man that usually came to the inn. In addition, Mahaya's mother was deathly sick and I help him take care of her. He came in just as I tripped making me fall and spilling the food that I had in my hands. The innkeeper came up to belt me for being a klutz but a Royal guard stops him in mid-strike. I really was shocked that he helped me. He told the innkeeper that he should not hurt young children and he would buy me from him. He told the innkeeper that he was gathering all the young slaves so that the Pharaoh could pick one for the prince for his birthday coming up. He thought that I was a good choice because he could see that I was a good worker and he noticed that I learned things quickly. The innkeeper sold me and told me to get my things so I could leave with them. I ran to find Mahaya and told him that the innkeeper sold me to one of the Royal court. I finally got back and told them I was ready to leave. The journey to the palace was somewhat long and I was quiet the whole time. I found out who my savior was. His name was Mahado and he was an apprentice to a sorcerer and a high priest. When we finally got to our destination, I was in awe. The palace was beautiful. He leaves me and tells the guards to take me to the throne room and leave me there with the other children that he brought with us. We were than summoned to the throne room, and told to stand in a line. As I looked around, I could see Mahado wink at me as we waited for everyone to come to the throne room. To describe the other children most of them as I could tell they have not had a bath in a while, and I was just as bad. My long Pale Purplish red with cream stripes hair was pretty matted and I had dirt smug on my face from the journey. I was pretty short for my age and scrawny. The other kids were just as messy as I was. One of the kids was trying to escape but didn't get that far. They asked the kids what our names were and when it was my turn, I was very respectful and compliant even though I wanted to smack one of the advisors. I didn't like the way he was looking at me at all. I knew if I was alone with that certain advisor that he would try to get me to do some of the things that I had to go through at my last owner. The Pharaoh walks in and walked up to each one of us. I wasn't afraid of him that much because he was just watching us to find out who would be a good companion to his son. He came up to me and was shocked that I looked at him in the eye instead of looking down like when you are to show some respect to the Pharaoh and some of the other kids did. As he talked to the other kids, I was looking around and noticed that Mahado was whispering something under his breath then suddenly a young brown head boy in a priest outfit had brown junk all over him. I was shocked to say the least but I had just muttered the same thing and the advisor that was looking at me like I was a piece of meat had brown and purple junk all over him. Mahado was shocked and he nearly started to look like he was going to laugh because of the look on my face. I was so shocked that I nearly fainted. It took a lot out of me and I was so tired from the journey. The Pharaoh did start to laugh. He told the servants to clean all the kids up, and feed then give them jobs to do. As for me, he told me to go with the servants to cleaned me up and fed so I could get ready for the prince's birthday party. They gave me a bath then some better clothes than I was wearing. Mahado came and told me that he knew that the Pharaoh would pick me because I was special and the prince could use a laugh or two. I asked Mahado if I could rest before the party because I was very tired. He said I could. At the party, the Pharaoh introduced me to the Prince and I was shocked that he pretty much looked like any other kid that I had met in my village. The prince was about the same age as me and had hair of the colors of black with red tips and blond stripes and blonde bangs. His hair was spiky. He had the oddest eye color. They were like the color of blood or crimson. Very tan skin as well; he was about the same height as me as well. I was somewhat apprehensive about what I was supposed to do as his servant but I knew I had this feeling that he would not hurt me and I could always be his friend. I mean everyone needs friends, right? Our first night was awkward because I did not know what would happen when I feel asleep. I fell asleep in a corner on top of a bunch of pillows that the prince had in his bedchambers. When I woke up I had a blanket over me and the prince had someone to pull bedding to the floor near me but not close enough to scare me. He was in a peaceful sleep and did not look like the next ruler whenever his father dies. We did become very close friends and he became quite protective over me after he found out what happen to me when I was a slave to the innkeeper. Two days after his birthday was my first day as his servant and it was official that I was his servant. I ended up waking up late and made him late for his meeting. We were running down the hall and we ended up sliding into the throne room door and landing in a heap because someone had to polish the floor a little too much. Mahado open the throne door open to find out what that thud was and ended up nearly bursting into laughter at us. We actually fell on top of each other. We finally untangled ourselves we walked in the room. The meeting was quite boring because it would be my first royal meeting. I did meet the others that would be under the prince when he becomes the Pharaoh. Their names are Mahado and his apprentice Mana, High Priest Seth and his servant Jono, Shikir who was an advisor and his servant Saya. Shikir was interesting because he somewhat looked like the prince and that was odd. I really liked Saya as well. He was interesting because he had an air about him that was I couldn't explain that well. Jono was interesting because he actually was a blonde and it was the first time I actually seen a blonde-haired person before. He had a lot of energy and loved to tease Seth all the time. I became close friends with another kid her name was Mana. She was somewhat apprentice to Mahado and a major prankster. The other meetings we ended up going too wasn't very boring because of Mahado. One time we had a meeting just like any other one but this one was different. It was very boring and I was sitting in the Prince's lap as I usually did. I had noticed that Mahado had a look that he was up to something. That usually meant that he was going to play a prank on someone that usually meant Seth was going to be the blunt of it. Mahado winked at me and mutter something that I couldn't hear but I knew the result. The advisor, that I didn't like that much, and Seth had green and purple goop to land on them with a splat, I tried not to laugh but I didn't have much choice because Jono had to walk in just when that was happing and burst into laughter which made me burst into laughter. The Pharaoh had to propone the meeting because of what had happen. Those meeting were never boring again.
The Pharaoh told Mahado that he needed to teach me in the studies along with the prince so he would have company and I need the studies. During the time, he was teaching me, he told me that he knew that I would be picked to be the prince's servant because he had sense that I had some magic in me and he was glad that the Pharaoh heeded his advice. I learned many things such as reading, writing, fighting styles, and spells that I ended up having a knack for them. I slowly grew stronger as I learned to fight so I could protect the prince if I had too. We sometime would practice outside so we could have fresh air and I sometimes notice that from the palace wall near a tree, we was being watched but I would just ignore it and work on whatever I am learning. I learned that I wasn't the only one that had a knack for pranks. I enjoyed pranking Seth all the time. Mana always had trouble with a spell which usually I had no trouble out of it. The spell was too change the color of an object, such as your hair, you wanted to whatever color you wanted. She usually got it wrong and ended up having orange hair for a few days because it would backfire on her. Mana wanted to play a prank on Mahado so when she did the spell on Mahado, so I helped her do the spell and we turned his brown hair to silver white with purple and orange stripes. He knew we did it and started chasing us all over the palace. We ran by the Pharaoh's bedchambers laughing and he wanted to know what was going on. We told him to look at Mahado and you had your answer. He just started laughing and told me to hide in his study, which was in his chambers. I did and Mana hid in the vase near the chambers. Mahado asked the pharaoh where we got to and he told him that we went to a different way. Mahado did find us later and got us back for it. Some times Mahaya came to see me by sneaking into the palace. We usually got the prince to help us prank someone in the palace. One time we did a prank on the Queen. She was an easy target especially the frog prank. She would scream and would not go into the room with the frogs at all. It comes find out that she stayed in the pharaoh's chambers and we find out a month later she was with child.
By then the prince and I was un-separable, and as we began to grow closer and closer. One of the reasons where that I could go anywhere in the palace I wanted. We went to town one time and he got someone that did tattoos to put a mark on the back of my neck saying who I belong to and to protect me if someone tries anything I did not liked or try to harm me he would know. I knew I was falling for him. It wasn't hard to tell he cared for me dearly as well that we started to show how we felt for each other in the privacy of our chambers. Sometimes it would just be rough housing and stuff like that. My Prince had many trusty monsters. They used them to dual for fun or it was for land or power. Most of the monsters most defiantly obeyed the prince. He had a few that was very trustworthy. Their names were Mystical Elf she was like a healer and very kind. She was an elf with blue skin and yellow tan hair. She would talk to me when I couldn't go on a trip with the Prince and I was bored. Illusion Magician was Mahado's monster but he was very protective over the Prince and I. He had a tendency to be a big worrywart. You couldn't really tell what he looked like under all those robes he wore. Then there was Celtic Guardian, he was one of those who had an odd sense of humor. He called Illusion Magician, Tights all the time, just to annoyed the heck out of him. He was an Elvin warrior with the pointed ears and everything. He wore armor and a cape. He also cared a sword that he sometimes would show me stuff to protect my self.
Soon when I turned 8 summers old, I started getting very sick. I had horrible nightmares, fever, and then I would just throw up so much I couldn't throw up anymore. It was so hard on us because my Prince would have to have the duties of being a prince and worry about me all the time. Mystical elf, she would come and try to heal me but it only worked for a while. It started to get worse and worse. Another trusty monster that Illusion Magician was getting worried about what was going to happen to me if I didn't get better soon. That lasted at least until I turned nine and that was because a stranger came to the palace and told me privately that I was dying. He told me that I probably not see my next birthday unless I allowed him to help me. I knew it would hurt my Prince if I died on him now. He had a tough road ahead of him and I wanted to support him as much as I could. So unbeknownst to my Prince I said that I would allowed the stranger to help me. Come find out he was a vampire. He told me what he was going to do and I should stay still so it wouldn't hurt. When he bit me, I listen to him and it did hurt a bit. He did this at least three times so no one could tell something was changing about me. I could tell that I was slowly but surely getting better. My Prince was just glad that I was doing so much better that he didn't realize that I had changed. I was still the goofy kid that he fell in love with but I was stronger, faster, and a lot more dangerous then I was before. It was so different how my senses were so strong. I was afraid that I would hurt my Prince sometime because the stranger left the day after he fully changed me. I found out then that Jono and Saya was one as well, and they taught me what to do when I needed to feed. Sometime after, I became a vampire. I notice that the games of shadows, as most of the duelist called them, started to get out of control. During a battle with another tribe, the Pharaoh was killed making my Prince the new Pharaoh and the queen was full of grief of losing her husband lost their unborn child. During a duel with a tomb robber by the name of Bakura and because of that Bakura, killed Mahado and Illusion Magician changed to Black Magician. After that, I could not stand to stay in the palace without Mahado and everyone was grieving over losing the most important people in my and the Prince's life. I soon had to leave. I knew that my Prince had a hard task to do if he was to save his people. I knew that I couldn't bear to loose him as well. Therefore, I asked if I could be free to do my own thing, he told me that I could go because he didn't want me to get hurt. He knew that if an enemy got a hold of the fact that I was really close to him that they would use me against him and he didn't want that. I told him that I had one more task before I left but I didn't tell him what it was. I secretly went to Mahado's monster table temple and asked Illusion Magician if he would give me something to remember my Prince by and he said yes. I glowed for a bit and then I walked out of the temple with these words following me, "I would protect him for you and all you need is to have one more night with him and it is done. Goodbye my good friend and be careful." By the time, I got back to my Prince's and I chambers, I was crying. I already missed Mahado terribly. Let's just say we had a night that I would never forget and I had a feeling that I knew what my present was and that I would never find someone like my Prince. I left after breakfast and I was crying by time I left the city. I didn't stay in one place for very long, I did run into Mahaya sometimes and I would stay with him and his family. I started to feel weird but I ignored it until.........
