I rummaged through my black leather bag to find the keys to our home, eager to get inside and see if the interior was as intriguing as the exterior.
“Seriously dude, I can't hold this in any longer! Hurry yourself!” said Toyah in desperation.
“Look! Hold on a mi... Doesn't matter. I've got them.” I was relieved to say.
The next few seconds seemed to stretch out into about a minute, as we both eagerly watched the shiny silver key moving closer towards the keyhole. I twisted the key, time still going super slowly, and after what seemed like a lifetime, opened the door to our new home.
“Whoaaaa....” was all Toyah could let out, her jaw wide open. “Looks awesome!”
“Yeah, it really does! Seems in good condition...clean and tidy...pretty modern...”
I had a little nosey about the hallway where we dropped our cases on the way in.
I followed after Toyah, who I found in the kitchen reading a quickly scribbled note that had been left on the table, presumably from the people who were renting us the place. I glimpsed over her shoulder at it:
Hey girls, I hope you've arrived safely in New Jersey and you like what you've seen of your new home. Make sure you take a look round the whole house before you start anything. I left a message with the neighbours in number 989 for you, so make sure you go round and introduce yourselves too before the day is out. They're sure to help you with anything. Hope you two get settled in quickly and have fun in Jersey!
“Well, we better go look upstairs before we unpack. We need to decide rooms and shizz,”
I bounced about in excitement. I ran up the stairs before getting a reply out of Toyah, because I knew she'd follow me soon enough. And so she did. I heard feet pounding up the staircase; you could feel the excitement bubbling throughout the house, despite there only being two of us in it. We both decided what rooms we wanted, surprisingly, without any arguments, so left our cases in our rooms and then Toyah decided she would make the trip to number 989 to meet the neighbours.
