Welcome To Jersey

Toyah’s POV
“Right, I'm away Aimee! Don't go anywhere!” I called behind me as I shut the door to our new perfect residence.
I enjoyed the extremely short, yet enjoyable “stroll” through the warm Jersey sunlight to our neighbours’ house. This house was slightly bigger than the others in the street and was further apart as well. I could tell there would be someone a bit special in this house. I raised my hand to knock the heavy wooden door, still feeling extremely upbeat despite the tiring flight to the States from the UK.
I waited a few seconds with no reply so raised my relatively small hand again, but before getting a chance to knock again, the door was opened. I was greeted by the friendly face of a pretty woman in her 30s, with short, dark hair, pale skin and a young girl in each arm. I stood there speechless and gaping.
“Oh hey! You've moved in next door, right?” said the friendly American girl.
I could only manage a small, unclear nod.
“I thought there were two of you, no? Come on in! Oh. And I'm Jamia, by the way. Jamia Iero,” she beamed, the two young girls flailing about playfully under her nose.
Right. I've come to New Jersey. I've been here less than a day. And I'm living next door to the Iero family. This cannot be happening.
Aimee will never believe me! It was, after all, My Chemical Romance who inspired us so much in our early teens to do so much, including to come to New Jersey.
“Actually,” I stuttered, struggling to spit the words out, “There are two of us. My friend Aimee is next door unpacking. I'll go bring her round. Oh and I'm Toyah.”
“Nice name, Toyah... I'll go put some food out then for you both,” Jamia said chirpily, closing the door as I smiled and turned my back to go back to the new house.
Aimee’s POV
I heard the door open and was greeted by Toyah jumping on top of me, I could tell by the look in her eye something was up.
“Whoa chick, what’s up?!”
“Oh. My. Actual. Frank. You are NEVER going to believe this shizz!”
At this point, Toyah looked like she was going to explode, rather like the pressure in a shaken up bottle of fizzy drink.
“I don’t know, what happened?”
“You will never believe who our “accommodating, helpful neighbours” are, quote unquote!”
“Seriously, just tell me already! Breathe!”
She panted heavily, practically hyperventilating at this point.
“FRANK AND JAMIA IERO ARE LIVING NEXT DOOR TO US!!” the words coming out rather like she just forcefully spewed in front my face.
I stared at her blankly.
“Seriously, don’t lie.”
“I’m not! I swear to Gee, they’re living next door! Number 989. Jamia answered the door, Cherry and Lily were playing about in her arms!” she said with a look of desperation for me to believe her.
“Come round now! Jamia’s making us something to eat, I said I’d come round and get you!”
“Okay, this is pretty frickin’ crazy! But... just... Oh my Gee. You’re not lying!”
“I know I am! So hurry your ass and get round here with me!”
“Okay, okay, let me fix my makeup!”
“Dude, we don’t have time! Hurry yourself!”
I could feel my stomach bubbling, brimming with excitement. I never thought I’d get to Jersey, never meet Frank Iero, one of my idols. Only Gerard Way could cause me to die on the spot, but I was pretty damn near to it now. I could feel sparks of colour inside of me, like a firework display on Halloween night. The thing was I could tell Toyah was telling the truth. One-hundred percent. There’s just something that gives her away when she’s telling a joke, and this time I wasn’t seeing or feeling it. My life was about to change forever.
