The chapter is both funny and sad.
After all the times Helen tried to get Daria to involve herself more, she shoots her down after Daria finally researched colleges and explained in details why Middleton is a bad choice. Now Daria is going to depend only on herself, and Helen blew another chance to mend the rift with Daria.
