They Tell Us Fairytales
Even if the scars fade
The pain remains
Even if the tears stop
The sadness lingers
Even if we all smile
The happiness is still absent
We might show symptoms of it
But it doesn't exist
They tell us it does
But it's to keep us docile
To keep us buying
What they tell us to
To keep believing
In their words
Their lies
That everything heals over time
But it never does
A wound remains open
Until it is sewn by comfort
We never receive
The blood never stops flowing
From the cuts we get
From the blade of society
And though our mouths show the smiles
They want to see
On the inside we are screaming
For everyone to hear
And we will not be silenced
Even if the scars fade
The pain remains
Even if the tears stop
The sadness lingers
Even if we all smile
The happiness is still absent
We might show symptoms of it
But it doesn't exist
They tell us it does
But it's to keep us docile
To keep us buying
What they tell us to
To keep believing
In their words
Their lies
That everything heals over time
But it never does
A wound remains open
Until it is sewn by comfort
We never receive
The blood never stops flowing
From the cuts we get
From the blade of society
And though our mouths show the smiles
They want to see
On the inside we are screaming
For everyone to hear
And we will not be silenced
