Silver opened up the glove compartment, shoved on a pair or sunglasses and then tuned up the radio. Dr Death’s voice boomed out of the speaker box. Cosmic jumped and then adjusted the volume.
“This is Dr Death signing off and remember … keep running”
“What the hell is the time? I knew it was the afternoon but I didn’t realise it was this late!” Cosmic yelled.
Lighting looked at her watch and it only displayed 15.00, She explained
“Well, this isn’t right. Its 3 o clock and we all know that DD signs off way past midnight… there’s something going on. We need to get down there.”
It was weird driving, for all of them. As they were not technically old enough to drive but out of all the things they had to do to get this far, this was definitely the most legal.
It was a long 7 hour drive and it seemed like they were driving for days. Everyone knew that Cosmic kept all of her CD’s that didn’t get destroyed in a secret place. They begged her and begged her for them and then after 30 minutes of constant nagging, she gave in.
It was great for Silver to hear music, for it was her muse. Her happy place. When it was Lightning’s turn to drive, she took a nap in the back seats.
The school bell was ringing continuously and the teachers were screaming for us to move, to find somewhere safer to stay. We thought it was just a pointless drill but we did what we were told. We ran into a science cupboard and the floor started shaking .The smell was over powering and my closest friends were on the floor, safe but had fainted from the stench. I peered out of the small gap in the door. Our friends, our enemies, people we had shared memories with. Being killed in front of my innocent eyes. Tears were forming long lakes under my eyes. I couldn’t help them. I couldn’t do anything but… sleep
Silver awoke herself with her own violent screams and opened her eyes to her two best friends, one holding her hand and the other keeping her distance and carried on driving… she wasn’t the touchy type after all.
