A New World


There the river flowed
to bring the wishes of the broken
to the seas of Regret.

People gathered at its banks
mourning the deaths of dreams
better left unsaid
and the sadistic tendencies
of the world swept away
to never be fully realized.

And as the mourners
lifted their faces
to the glow of a new planet,
clean of the grime that
had so dirtied it,
they could not believe
their own eyes.

Everything they had known
was gone.

The corruption,
the hate,
the violence,
was replaced.

And they were not yet ready
to face it.
