Frank's POV
It had felt horrible to have to leave Gee's and to come home. Mum asked me question after question about what we had done over the two days. By the end of it I was tired and wanted to go to bed. I realised we hadn't told Gee's parents that we were going out and I hadn't told my mum either. I guess I could attempt to tell my mum tomorrow. I lay on my bed and glanced over at Pansy and remember playing with Mikey, while Gee sang. It was truly remarkable. The thought of school tomorrow dimed my good feeling that I had right now, but it would mean I would see Gee tomorrow for every lesson. I smiled to myself as I drifted off to sleep, thinking of Gee.
Narrator's View
Grey clouds loomed over New Jersey on the Monday morning. The ground was damp and the temperature had dropped from last week. September was nearing an end and it would soon be October. Autumn was looming as the leaves started to change from the lush green, to their golden colours of red, orange, yellow and brown. In the many streets of New Jersey, children and teenagers left their houses where they caught the bright yellow school bus to school, or would walk merrily with friends, chattering away about their weekends. On Monroeville Street, Gerard and Mikey walked down their garden path, to walk six doors down and wait for Frank. To their surprise, Frank was walking out of his front door as they arrived at his house
Frank's POV
For the first time in history, I was looking forward to going to school. It was a weird feeling. I knew the jocks would be there and I would hate having to confront them, but I had something to protect me and to love; Gerard Arthur Way. Just seeing him standing with his brother, smiling, lifted my spirits even higher. Before I even had a chance to say hello, I was pulled into a tight, warm hug from Gee. It was nice and warm, which made me smile even more
"Ready to go to hell?" I laughed at Gee and nodded my head
"Ready as I'll ever be."
"No idea if we're meeting Holly along the way or at the school," Mikey spoke
"Knowing her, she'll jump me like usual." Gee and Mikey laughed and we began to walk down the side walk. It was Monday, meaning I had sports in the afternoon. I also had maths, which I dread. Shayne was always there, ready to mock me in front of his group before the teacher got there. My attention changed as I felt fingers lace with mine. I glanced down to see Gee holding my hand and I smiled
"So, sleep well?" Gee asked
"Not too bad actually." Come to think of it, since meeting Gee, I had managed to sleep through the nights without being woken up by horrible nightmares. I smiled at the thought. Although Gee wasn't physically with me, while I was at home in my own bed sleeping, the thought of him made me feel safe in my sleep
"ARGH!" Me and Gee spun round only to burst out laughing. Holly had taken liberty of jumping on Mikey's arm
"That makes a change!" I said through laughter
"Hi guys!" Holly cooed. She held onto Mikey's arm as we continued to walk
"Hey Frank, it's nearly October!"
"Mhm." I was too focused on looking at Gee to think about it being October
"You know what that means."
"I know, my birthday."
"Wow, normally you start to get excited about your birthday at the beginning of October."
"I know I do, right now, I have something else to be excited about." Gee smiled at me and I smiled back
"Well that is a first for the history books!" Holly seemed surprised and Mikey laughed at her
"I will, get excited, when it does get closer." I turned round to see Holly completely shocked. She ran forwards and placed her hand on my head
"Nope, no temperature, are you feeling alright?"
"Give over Holly," I said laughing. We reached the school gates. I became self-conscious that I was still holding Gee's hand and that would only mean more harsh words and abuse being hurled in my direction. Gee squeezed my hand and we carried on walking. People stared at us a few times but Gee kept on squeezing my hand as we walked.
Mikey's POV
I was so glad that it was nearly the end of English. I don't know how much longer I can keep biting my lip to stop myself form laughing. I'm sure I've drawn blood now. The teacher enjoyed making students act out Romeo and Juliet. Holly wasn't helping either. Her head was on the desk, but her shoulders were shaking violently and the sharp intakes of breath meant she was laughing. Every now and then she looked round at me, with a huge grin on her face and her eyes shining with tears. The bell sounded
"Ok class, pack up your things, we will continue this next lesson." Rushing to grab our things, me and Holly stumbled out of the classroom in fits of laughter
"Holy fuck! I think I'm actually enjoying English at the moment!" Holly managed to breathe the words between laughter and intakes of oxygen
"I have to agree with you there." We walked to the lockers, where Gerard and Frank would be waiting. And sure enough, both were stood next to one another, Frank smiling as Gerard spoke, before they both laughed
"You two seem happy," I butted in as Gerard went to speak again
"Well, considering Shayne isn't in and his group have avoided us, I'm feeling pretty darn good."
"Are you sure you're not sick Frank? You hate this hell hole, yet here you are laughing away!" Holly protested. I laughed at Holly
"I'm fine and like I said earlier, I have something else to be excited and happy about." Frank looked at Gerard. I loved how Frank was able to make my brother smile and seem overall happy. At our old school, he was so quiet and put out. He always looked sad and in a strange way, depressed. But when he was with me, Bob and Ray, we were happy as can be, until the jocks ruined our days, which was pretty much every day. Just seeing him smile the way he did, made me feel happy for him and Frank
"What are you smiling at?" I looked round at Holly
"Nothing, come on, go see what crap they're serving in the canteen today."
"You mean, what have they just shot now and boiled to death in water, and then served burnt on the side," Holly said jokingly. She burst out laughing again, clearly not over from the amusement of English
"Did you have to refer to shooting something?" Frank said
"Aww, I'm sorry Frank, but it's true though, enough to turn anyone vegetarian. Mind you, I think they should put that method to much better uses." Frank shook his head Gerard smirked
"Explain," I said pushing the door to the canteen open
"Well, they should use the shot gun to shoot the annoying homophobic jocks and stuck up tarts of the school." I laughed along with Gerard and Frank
"One problem with that Holly," Frank said joining the line
"What?"
"There wouldn't be anyone in school, it would only be us four, and a few teachers." Holly thought for a moment
"It would mean no school?" She sounded hopeful and I couldn't help but pat her on the head
"Bless." After waiting for ten minutes, and receiving our barely edible food, we went and sat down at a table
"Are you two going to bunk sports today," Holly asked
"Well, they've got the trampolines out today so I don't know."
"Well Shayne isn't here, we haven't had much hassle so might as well." The thought of my brother wearing a sports kit for sports had me choke on the tasteless jacket potato, which was hardly cooked
"Something tickle your senses?" My brother sounded a little annoyed and had his arms crossed
"Just you never wear a sports kit, you always bunked sports!" Holly began to giggle too
"I get what he's laughing at, you in a sports kit." Frank began to laugh too
"Come on Gerard we can skip sports and go do something else." Holly laughed and was about to say something until she froze. Her laughter stopped
"What's the matter?"
"Georgia," she whispered. We all looked round just as Holly ducked her head down. Sure enough Georgia was with another group of girls who really didn't look like they wanted to be with her
"Fuck, she was bossing me around last week in science about this stupid project. She's under the impression that I'm working with her, when the teacher has paired me with Mikey. She moaned at me and wouldn't shut up because I wouldn't do the jobs she asked me to do. I –"
"Holly babes!" Georgia shouted across the canteen. Holly's head hit the table as many eyes looked round. Georgia dragged her group over. I felt sorry for Georgia. She looked at me as if I was a piece of dirt. She clearly was a lesbian, and would get jealous of any guy talking to a girl that was her friend. Holly hated it. I remember her telling me how she would rip into Georgia if she tried touching her again in the changing rooms. I looked to Frank who looked like he had bitten something sour as Georgia tapped Holly on the shoulder
"Is Holly playing hard to get?" Georgia laughed. Her laugh was annoying, just like the cheerleaders. Holly shrugged Georgia's hand off her shoulder
"Someone is playing hard to get. What's crawled inside your ear and started nibbling at your brain?" Georgia laughed at her own comment, which no one else found remotely amusing. As suspected, she began talking to Holly about the science project. Gerard hung his head down trying to tune out of the conversation, while Frank diverted his attention out to the window. I glanced at Holly, who looked like she might just snap any moment. Her hands were beginning to bawl into fists
"I mean last week, you hardly put any input to the project at all! You did fuck all, what do I have to do to get you to do something for the project? Me and Sarah can't do it by ourselves you know, either you start pulling your weight around or I'll get forceful and make you do some of the work. I'll even make sure you don't get that much credit for it when it is completed." Half expecting Holly to shout at Georgia, she didn't
"Are you listening?" Holly didn't say anything but continued to stare at the table
"It's rude to ignore people Holly! God what is up with you lately? You ignore me in science and you pushed me away last week in gym class."
"Oh my god, SHUT UP!" Did I really just say that to a girl? I had grabbed Frank, Gerard and Holly's attention
"Excuse me? I wasn't talking to you, so keep out."
"My God, you don't stop do you?" I snapped. Holly's eyebrows raised a little and Frank and Gerard looked at one another
"When will you get it, Holly isn't in your group, she's paired with me in science, not you!"
"Well, she could have said." I rolled my eyes
"I did say it, like five times but you fucking ignored it and continued to pester me and annoy me."
"No you didn't."
"Yes she fucking did, I heard her say it! You're always bossing people around, the only reason people stay around you I because they don't' have the guts to tell you to shut up." Georgia rounded on her friends who seemed equally as shocked as Holly
"What do you know, you're some nerdy emo freak!" Gerard made to stand up and speak but I stopped him in his tracks
"Yeah, I know that, which is better than some stupid bossy cow, who harasses other students around and then do anything to try and have her way with any girl!" Georgia went silent and stared at Holly
"You going to let your freak of a friend talk to me like this?" Holly stared at Georgia. Fuck, had I gone too far? Fuck, fuck, fuck! I dread what Gerard would say. I couldn't help it, Georgia had pushed it too far. Holly really was too nice to say anything. Sure Holly will mock the cheerleaders and jocks, but when it came to Georgia, she didn't have the guts to do it
"You know what Georgia, I did like you, for like a week, until I got to know you and then I couldn't get rid of you! I see the way you, boss people around, heck I've been one of them and then I see how bitchy you will be towards someone when they stand up to you." Holly turned to face me. I had a feeling I was in trouble. Bracing myself to be shouted at by Holly for being stupid, I felt shocked to what I got instead. I think everyone was shocked as Holly crashed her lips to mine. She pulled away and my cheeks burned a lot
"And for the record Georgia, I have never fancied you and here's a new one for everyone." Holly looked round to make sure she did have everyone's attention
"I'm straight." Georgia's jaw had dropped
"Fuck you Holly." Georgia stormed off, with her supposed friends staring at us before following after Georgia
"Well," Gerard spoke breaking the silence. We all looked at him, while my cheeks still burned
"That wasn't something I was expecting from my baby brother, didn't know he had it in him!" Gerard smiled at me and Frank smiled too
"And I wasn't expecting that from Holly either, are you really, straight?" Holly laughed
"I've been bisexual since I turned thirteen and I think that's been long enough to establish that I am straight." Holly looked at me and smiled and I smiled back at her. Had I turned her straight?
"Thanks Mikey." She hugged my arm tightly and Gerard and Frank exchanged looks.
