Ms. Bude's Interview with Tommy:

"Please state your name."

"Tommy Renton."

"How long have you worked at Beach Radio Magazine?"

"Six months."

"Why such a short time?"

"My original company merged with them."

"And what was your original company?"

"Blast Attack."

"And how would you compare the two?"

"Beach Radio is better."

"And why is that?"

Tommy shrugged at her. "It's easy to manage, I guess."

"You guess?"

"Yes."

"So in other words, it's laid-back."

Tommy nodded. "You can say that."

"Uh-huh." Madison jotted down more notes in her notepad. Tommy tried not to look at what she was writing. The woman looked up at him.

"Describe the work atmosphere."

"Good."

Ms. Bude raised an eyebrow at him. "Good?"

Tommy nodded. "Yeah."

"Good in what way?"

"All of it. We get along very well. It's like family and the boss is really easy to work with. As a result, work gets done much better around here."

"I see..." She wrote more notes while Tommy straightened up his tie. Ms. Bude looked up at him.

"Show me your portfolio."

"Yes ma'am." Tommy handed her his portfolio and she took it with no emotion on her face.

"Thank you," she said. Tommy nodded. Madison opened up the binder and read over the contents. She looked up at him when he was finished.

"Thank you for your time," she said. Tommy looked at her, blinking.

"That's it?" he asked. Ms. Bude nodded.

"Yes, you are free to go," she said. "Bye." Tommy rose to his feet.

"Thank you, ma'am," he said. They shook hands and he went out the door. For the rest of the day, not a single smile was to be had from him.
