Chapter 19- Kiss Me Electric
Lizzie took Patrick's advice for a while. Everyday she would go and sit under the cork tree, watching the dead leaves fall from the snow covered tree, being picked up by the winds and carried away. She would sit and observe the people, watching as everybody slowly watched the sky change, letting tiny drops of snow sprinkle down, hitting their faces in a calming way. Lizzie couldn't help but think of Pete, and just what he was doing to her. All over the world, his story of lost love was being broadcasted. She couldn't blame him, she did break his heart...but only in spite of the fact he broke hers. Lizzie was lucky, nonetheless, she didn't get the wrath and fate of the other heartbreakers that entered Pete's world. It's just he didn't give up on her; they had seven years on them. It was a "sure thing falling" situation. He broke her heart, she broke his. She changed for him, he changed for her. She pushed him away, he stayed away. He loved her, but low and behold, it was too late for that. So now all Lizzie had was memories of how selfish she was, thinking her emotions were more important than Pete's. Yet again, he sounded as though he was so ready to take her back, just as Lizzie was ready to take him. It was just a matter of time and place.
It was an all too familiar scene. Lizzie stood under the leafless cork tree, staring up at the clumps of snow that fit snuggled in the branches of the tree. The wind blew her brown curls and the gentle breeze made the dead leaves swivel around her. Her deep blue eyes skimmed over every feature of the tree until they landed on something unfamiliar and new. Stepping closer to the tree, Lizzie lightly trailed over the engraving.

Her lips parted in a gasp as she felt the tears glaze over. Below it, there was a message.
I love you...
"This wasn't here yesterday," she spoke and suddenly heard footsteps behind her, squishing the shallow snow.
"That's because I put it there this morning..." he whispered in a low voice. Lizzie slowly turned around to see Pete standing six feet away, dressed in a black Panic! At the Disco hoodie, his tight dark jeans revealing a pair of black converse and fingerless gloves blackening his hands. Lizzie parted her lips again as he took a cautious step closer to her, in some sort of way of asking permission to come closer. Lizzie blinked very slowly and listened as his footsteps came closer until he was right in front of her, slightly staring her down. For a moment, the two just let their eyes skim each others faces, looking for any sign of change within the last nine months of not seeing each other. Lizzie let out a shaky breath as their eyes locked and Pete's lips parted, poised to start speaking.
"I've missed you," he spoke softly and Lizzie nodded her head, letting the tears glaze her eyes, and a few seep out. Pete clasped her hands in his own, raising them up in between them, and brought her slightly closer.
"Please don't cry," he whispered again and Lizzie bit her lip before looking down.
"I've missed you too," she whispered and Pete let out a relieved sigh.
"Then can I finally talk to you?" he asked and Lizzie nodded, lightly smiling.
"Liz...I've realized just how much hurt I've caused in our past...seeing your feelings but ignoring them, hoping they would go away. I was in denial, Lizzie..." he paused and sighed. "I just couldn't think that anybody as perfectly perfect as you would ever have those kinds of feelings for me. It was good enough that you were my best friend, but that was all. I was so scared of ruining it for us..." Lizzie looked at him with sorrow filled eyes.
"Pete..." she started. She was lost for words again.
"I'm willing to take a chance at this, Liz...I...I really do love you," he whispered the last bit and then continued to mumble and ramble.
"Pete," Lizzie said firmly. His gaze lifted from their shoes to her eyes and he pursed his lips together.
"Yes?" he asked. Lizzie smiled.
"Shut up," Pete frowned, a little hurt. His hands loosened the grip on Lizzie's but she just tightened it again. "Shut up, and kiss me," Pete widened his eyes but calmed down as soon as he made eye contact again with Lizzie. Slowly Pete's hand slid out of Lizzie's and moved to cup her cheek drawing her face closer. Lizzie tried to shut her eyes but was completely mesmerized by his lips as they inched steadily nearer to her own. Their gazes flicked up to meet each others a split second before their mouth's should have met, both of their eyes betraying the absolutely terrifying nervousness they felt as their friendship crept at the speed of their heart beats toward an entirely new level. The nervousness slipped away as Lizzie closed her eyes and slowly Pete's lips covered her own. From there she truly felt the meaning of "Kiss Me Electric". And Pete felt it too. The two stood completely shocked at how intense the kiss started and how perfect it was becoming as Pete placed his hands right above her waistline and right below her chest. Lizzie's hands made it under his arms and behind him, holding his shoulders. Soon, Lizzie felt herself melt as Pete opened her mouth with his tongue and the kiss turned into something a little more passionate. They both tilted their heads to the side to deepen it, and Pete couldn't help but smile into the kiss. Lizzie felt it and smiled back, the kiss softening and slowly diminishing. Slowly, the two both pulled away, lightly smiling as they rested their foreheads together. Giggling, Lizzie watched as Pete licked his lips.
"Tastes like strawberries..."
