Chapter 2
Ray thought about all the possibilities for Gerard to be paired with yet none of them seemed to fit. Curley? Carlson? Crooks? Candy's dog? Frank was observing the singer's every movement as if what he did in those few seconds would tell him the answer.
Frank pictured Gerard in head when he was performing on stage, how dramatic he was, his eccentric personality. Then he had a 'eureka' moment. "Curley's wife!" he said a little too loudly.
Ray clapped a hand over his mouth and just smiled at a confused looking Gerard. The singer decided to ignore that one as well, he thought it must be all the heat that was driving his band mates crazy.
Ray let go of Frank and asked "Why Curley's wife". Frank was once again bouncing up and down in his seat "Everything" he explained, using his hands to exaggerate "His hair matches her clothes, they're both attention seekers but they're misunderstood, they just want to be noticed".
Ray thought about Frank's reasoning for a moment, trying his very best not to imagine Gerard dressed in an old cotton house dress with red lipstick. That image would surely haunt him for the rest of his life...
Mikey sneezed in his slumber and frightened Ray and Frank half to death. "What about long legs over there?" asked Ray, gesturing to the bassist who did in fact have his stick insect legs hanging off the seat.
With no hesitation or second thought, Frank said "Lennie" and before Ray could open his mouth to ask why he pointed to the fluffy rabbit pillow that Mikey was quite adorably snuggling with. Ray just nodded, no question there.
The two fell silent, unsure of what to talk about now their pairing list was complete. Gerard was still singing along to their album and Mikey was dribbling on his fluffy rabbit pillow. Frank decided to carry on reading his book and Ray went back to playing Mario Kart on his Nintendo DS.
All of a sudden there was loud bang, like an explosion that came from the back the bus then the vehicle came to a halt. Mikey was woken up by the sound and he randomly started shouting " We've been shot! We've been shot!".
Gerard turned off the CD and unbuckled his seat belt. "Don't worry" he said annoyed " The tyre just burst, that's all". He got up and walked into the main part of the bus and lifted up the flap on the floor where they always made sure to keep a spare tyre just in case.
Gerard opened the compartment and to his surprise, it was empty. "Where's the spare tyre" he asked in a panic, looking around at his band mates.
Frank sat up and said slowly "Don't you remember, we used it when the last one went back in New York". Mikey had pulled his legs into his chest and was now biting his pillow with his eyes closed shut, trying not to hyperventilate.
Frank and Gerard both looked to Ray, Ray always had a plan, he was the brains of the bunch. He looked at each if them in turn, "What do you want me to do about it?" he asked.
"You always know what to do in these situations" said Gerard 'matter of factly'. "Yeah" Frank backed him up "You can fix everything, like Bob the Builder".
Ray sighed and raked his hand through his hair while he looked out of the window to think. "We could call Brian" he suggested. Their manager was used to them getting into trouble by now.
Gerard fished his phone out of his back pocket and quickly called Brian's phone. An alert came on the screen, it said 'Your phone does not have connection'. Gerard cursed and threw his phone onto the seat. "No connection" he muttered.
That was when everyone really began to panic, they were stuck in the middle of nowhere with no working transport, no phone connection, a limited supply of food and a concert to get to in three days... great.
