This is good. It reminded me of a scene in the movie The Time Traveller's Wife, where the time traveller, Henry, didn't show up for dinner with his wife, and wasn't even there for Christmas. Quite sad, actually. Alright, I'll stop bugging you.
I can't wait to see what else you write, it sounds really good.
