Before I knew you
I never understood what it meant
To want to freeze time
I found it absurd
To want to take the world
And put it on pause
Because the past is the past
And a second is a second
Both are constants
Intertwined harmoniously
And there's a reason for that
Now every once in awhile
I run into you on the street
Your eyes hardly meet mine
But for that second that they do
I would give anything to freeze time
Because the seconds don't seem to count
When I'm with you
And the past doesn't feel like the past
Because every time our eyes meet
Nothing else matters
Nothing is constant
And before I know it
The second is gone
And I hate myself for letting it slip past
Because every time I see you
I'm never sure
If it will be the last.
I never understood what it meant
To want to freeze time
I found it absurd
To want to take the world
And put it on pause
Because the past is the past
And a second is a second
Both are constants
Intertwined harmoniously
And there's a reason for that
Now every once in awhile
I run into you on the street
Your eyes hardly meet mine
But for that second that they do
I would give anything to freeze time
Because the seconds don't seem to count
When I'm with you
And the past doesn't feel like the past
Because every time our eyes meet
Nothing else matters
Nothing is constant
And before I know it
The second is gone
And I hate myself for letting it slip past
Because every time I see you
I'm never sure
If it will be the last.
