You stare at me
As if the cherry gashes lacing my body
Are dangerous
Infectious
The wounds of a leper
But I promise you
These cuts and scars are not contagious
And thank God for that
Because you wouldn't last one damn day
In my world
So why do you stare at me
As if I deserve to be shunned
When all I really need
Is someone to pull me close
And whisper into my ear
"I believe in you"
As if the cherry gashes lacing my body
Are dangerous
Infectious
The wounds of a leper
But I promise you
These cuts and scars are not contagious
And thank God for that
Because you wouldn't last one damn day
In my world
So why do you stare at me
As if I deserve to be shunned
When all I really need
Is someone to pull me close
And whisper into my ear
"I believe in you"
