Sleepy dawn lays it's weary arms over a silent hospital,
Mothers lay dead to the world, sleeping infants entwined in loving arms.
A doctor strides through an empty hallway,
Hands shaking with the force of a thousand earthquakes,
Eyes bright red with tears he refuses to shed.

No enthusiastic life reverberates from that broken doctor
As he clutches a baby that's
No longer breathing sweet breaths.
Pressing a kiss to it's forehead,
And with a deep intake of breath,
The doctor leaves the room,
Eyes bright red with tears that he can't help but shed.

That heartbroken doctor kisses the lips of the body
Of his beautiful wife; who died in childbirth
After delivering a baby that never felt air in it's lungs.
Ice cold skin meets trembling ice lips,
As the doctor brushes away liquid sorrow,
Eyes bright red and set with infinite regret.

He could not save his wife
Or his son.
The doctor lies alone,
Sprawled out broken on his deathbed.
Eyes wide and glassy with tears he can't shed.

So yo. Um, this is a piece I might be submitting to the newspaper that circulates the entirety of fuckin' Oman, the stupid beautiful country I live in. Now, if I win this, is, I win 250 rial, which is basically like 685 Aussie dollars, 649 US dollars or 406 pounds sterling for you lovely lil Brits.
