Cadence sighed as she tapped the pen against the table. Her mind was anywhere and everywhere else except for her job. The only thing she didn't worry about right now was Ariana, knowing that she was sitting happily with her nanny only a few doors down. She was now a thirty year old woman. A full fledged grown up and a mother. You're probably wondering what has happened in the last twelve years! You see, after Pete's mother had gotten Cadence the help she needed she and Pete had spent two wonderful years together. They were as happy as could be and Cadence fell in love with the idea of majoring in broadcasting and television production. She did indeed get her money and she was able to go to college and have plenty of money left over.

After a few months of being stubborn, and a messy break up with Marcy, Patrick had come to his senses and was actually thankful for Pete being there for Cadence when he knew he had failed her. He hadn't been able to do the things for her that Pete had and for once he saw a light in Cadence's eyes that he hadn't seen since her mother had died. He couldn't help but be happy for them.

Everything seemed to be going well. Even their band, Fall Out Boy had been going extremely well. They had been touring, recording and winning over fans wherever they went. So when Cadence decided that she had wanted to go to school in England where she could get the best education in her field and well Pete knew that he was going to be touring the country and
hardly home, it kind of seemed like a no brainer to encourage her to go. After all he would hardly be around and he was almost sure they could make a long distance relationship work. It would be best for both of them.

Well, that's where he was wrong. They were both wrong. Cadence loved England. It was everything she expected and more and she also loved school. She couldn't believe how easily she adapted to the change. She got a wonderful room mate in a cute little apartment and started her classes right away. She loved learning so much that she even took extra classes. She wanted to learn anything she could get her hands on.

However, that didn't leave much time for Pete and while he tried constantly to keep in touch finally Cadence just had to tell him that she couldn't do it anymore. She had also taken time to seek some counseling about everything she had gone through with her Uncle. Although doing this had brought out a lot of anger she had buried about Patrick and what he had done to her and through this she kind of pushed him away and lost contact with him as well. She couldn't handle it and the more famous their band got, the more she distanced herself from those boys she used to know. She just needed a fresh start...from everything.

"Cad...The new host is here." Alyssa's voice broke into her thoughts. She hadn't even heard the knock on her open door.

"New host..?" She questioned as her eyes broke away from the rings on her finger. "I thought Kim was coming back?" She was referring to Kimberly Caldwell. Cadence was the executive producer and almost one of the most important people on hit oxygen show Best Ink! Kim was their host on the first season and she had done an amazing job. She also thought that they had confirmed that she was going to be coming back for the second season. There had been a brief hiatus between filming, but that shouldn't have mattered much as last time Cadence spoke to her she was game for anything.

"No, Kim got a part in that movie she auditioned for...I thought she told you? So you have no idea who the host is?" Alyssa asked as she held the door open. "I'll let him in."

"Ugh a him? There's so many guys already!" Cad shook her head as she looked up. Her eyes almost bugged out of her head as they locked on a pair of eyes that she had not seen in almost twelve years. "Pete..." She almost stuttered.

Pete's shocked look almost matched hers as he too recognized those eyes, that voice, and well that body. He had spent many, many nights making love to every inch of that body. "Cadence." He couldn't help himself as he pushed all the way into the room nearly jumping over her desk and grabbing her in the tightest hug imaginable.

"Oh my god, how are you?" She smiled as she pulled back to look at him. The years had been kind to him. He was still as handsome as ever. She'd be lying to say that she hadn't followed her former friends careers and personal lives. She knew Pete was married to Ashlee Simpson and she knew they had a son.

"I'm...so-so." He shrugged. "Better now that I'm seeing you. You work here? This is what that wonderful broadcast school has brought you to?" He smiled slyly. "A tattoo show with me as a host?!" He laughed. He was only teasing her. He was super proud of her. His eyes scanned over her whole body but he couldn't help but notice the rings on her hand. She was married and he felt his stomach drop almost into his toes. "You're married?" He couldn't help but ask.

She nodded, looking down at the rings on her fingers. She would be lying if she said it was a happy marriage. At one time it was a happy marriage. When she had gotten back to the states she had moved to California and started her new life there. She had met a young guy named David and he was the sweetest guy. That all changed about four months into her pregnancy which was about two years into their relationship and a year into their marriage. Well, four months into her pregnancy David was injured in a work site accident which he was prescribed Percocet. Pretty quickly after that he was taking more than he was prescribed and spending all of their money buying them off the street. Once he could no longer achieve the high he needed from the pills he turned to shooting heroin. And when he was high on the heroin he could be violent. Cadence held onto every hope that he would get better, that she could save him, unlike how she was able to save her father. "Yeah, four years now. You too right?" She smiled.

Pete looked down and shifted uncomfortably. "She filed for divorce last month." The words seemed to hurt as they left his mouth. "She didn't even tell me. I didn't want a divorce..." His choice of words were careful. He hadn't wanted the divorce, but truth be told he never felt about Ashlee the way he did Cadence.

"Mommy, mommy! Look what I made!" Ariana ran into the room a piece of coloring book in her hand. "I made this for you!" She smiled. Her mouth was full of gaps as she had been losing her baby teeth since she had turned three.

"Thank you baby." Cadence smiled as she lifted her into her arms and kissed her face.

"You're a mom?" Pete's eyes grew large. This strange feeling came over him. He couldn't place it. It wasn't quite jealousy, it wasn't hate or confusion. It was just...well maybe it was jealousy. She wasn't supposed to have kids. And, well if she did, they were supposed to be his!
