"You..you did what?!" Cadence's eyes grew wide as she tried to absorb the words that Pete had just told her. He had gone to his own mother and spilled her deepest darkest secrets. She knew she had told him that they could work on this...but she hadn't expected him to take action this fast. He wasn't supposed to make this big of a decision about her life without even telling her that he had come up with some plan of action.

"Why do you seem so surprised?" He furrowed his brow in confusion. Hadn't they just had this talk about how she needed to get out of there.

"Pete, I am going to lose all that money now!!" She exasperated to him. She didn't want it to seem like all she cared about was money. That she would sacrifice her own body, soul and emotions because of her inheritance but if she had any chance of getting out of this town, to go onto college it would be because of that money that her poor mother had worked so hard to put away for her. All 500,000 of it. It was hers.

"You just sat here not even a few hours ago and promised that you trusted me! You promised!" His heart was almost breaking at the fact that she now thought that he betrayed her. In reality all he wanted to do was to make her safe. He knew had this had started, but that was far from what it had become. Somewhere over the last few weeks he had fallen in love with her. Maybe because she wasn't like every other girl. She didn't have the tools to hurt him like all the rest of the girls he had been with. And there were quite a few. "But my mom said you could stay here with me. You don't have to leave this room or this bed or my arms!" He was wildly throwing his arms about. "And I'm sure the money could still be yours! He can't keep your inheritance from you just because he decided to fuck his own niece." His words were like fire now.

Cadence's eyes were a pure mix of confusion and hurt. He had basically summed it up in the most disgusting way that anyone ever could. It was like he was assuming that she enjoyed the bi-weekly rapes that took place. It was an act that was never to be spoken of like that and it disgusted her that he spoke to her like that. "And is that what you compare it to? What me and you do? I guess you should just assume that I like being raped, huh? Maybe next time you shouldn't even bother to ask and you can just hold me down and fuck me the way he does, huh?!" Her words were shaky, her voice getting louder. She couldn't believe that he was acting like this. She had come to him, trusted him with something that no one since Patrick had known about and he used it against her.

"No!" He yelled as he grabbed her arm as she was trying to get up. His eyes trying not to get distracted by the fact that all she was wearing was one of his old t-shirts. The bruises on her body brought him back to reality about the fact that he was fighting for her life here. He wasn't the bad guy. "Cadence I am not the bad guy here!" He had to remind her of that. "My mother has always been there for me and she more than approves of us. Of me being in love with you!" He yelled, his eyes widening as he realized he had never said that to her before. He really didn't want this to be the time that he did tell her. But, if it kept her here then so be it.

"You're what?!" She paused as she looked at him. His grip on her arm was as still as strong as ever.

"I didn't exactly want to tell you like this, but I'm in love with you. I've never felt like this before..yeah its corny..yeah I'm an asshole. I should of told you I was going to talk to my mother but I didn't want you to talk to me out of it." He sighed as he let go of her arm. Now he was actually regretting not talking to her first.

Cadence sighed as she sat down on the bed next to him. She kind of couldn't believe that he had just said those words to her. Truthfully all along she knew what he was all about. She knew in the beginning he was using her. She knew it all, deep down in her heart she knew it. But she didn't want to believe it. And now here he was confessing his love for her. Was this for real right now? Could she believe a word he said?

Just as she was about to respond there was a knock on the door. "Pete..Cadence.." The voice from the other end called.

Pete looked up between the door and Cadence and mouthed to her that it was his mom. "Yeah Mom? You can come in." He threw the blanket over Cadence's legs.

She opened the door and smiled and waved a finger to Cadence. "Come on baby...we need to talk."

Cadence got up, awkwardly pulling at the shirt she was wearing, she was not sure if she wanted to cry, scream or be grateful that his mother had walked in at that exact moment. "Sure. Yes Ma'am." She nodded as she followed his mother out of the room.

"Stay." She pointed at her son and closed the door.

Sighing, Pete threw himself against the bed and covered his face with a pillow. He didn't know why he couldn't come be apart of the conversation and he also didn't know why Cadence hadn't said it back. Did she not love him back? What could he expect from a girl so messed up from so much that had been done to her? He would have to be patient. She was a 17 year old girl that had been through so much.

"Come in." Mrs. Wentz opened the door to her office and sat down behind the desk. "Pete had filled me in on a little bit of what is going on with your home. I want you to know that we are more than willing to have you stay here. You are good for my son. But, I know that your uncle will fight this. Being a teacher, I know how people like this are. This isn't my first time at the rodeo. I know there is also a large money at stake." She was trying to find her words carefully. "I know Peter cares a lot about you, but before I go ahead with anything, I need to know that you're okay with this." She made eye contact with Cadence. She had never met this girl before. But she also knew it took a lot for her son to come to her with what he did.

Cadence let out a deep sigh. After the words Pete had just said to her, she was pretty sure that now she could accomplish anything and everything. She could overcome this as long as she had the Wentz's on her side. "I'm okay with this. I'm sure." She nodded her head carefully.

Mrs. Wentz nodded. "Tomorrow we will get you some new stuff, you can stay here. I see my son has no problem sharing his bed with you." A small smile played on her lips. "Go upstairs and get some sleep, baby."

Cadence nodded and excused herself from the room as she went back upstairs to Pete's room. "Hey." She smiled as she walked into the room.

"Hey..." He trailed off not sure what had happened downstairs.

"I love you too." She smiled as she climbed into his lap and pressed her lips gently against his. "Just don't make me regret this." She repeated as she kissed him again.
