I know everyone is hating my cliff hangers. I'm sorry, but it will all make sense one day. I promise.
--------------------------------------
The group had been back in LA for about two days now and besides telling Patrick about her pregnancy she had kept pretty quiet about it. She and Pete had been working a lot which changed when they were on set. It was all about professionalism and Cadence made sure he knew that. She and Patrick had been working on finding her a house that would suit her and two children. She had yet to tell Pete that she'd be moving out, but it shouldn't have been a real surprise.
"I got it! I got it! I found the perfect one!" Patrick came barreling through the front door.
"The perfect what?" Pete looked up from his couch, dropping the magazine to the side and standing up. He wasn't expecting Patrick, but maybe Cadence was. He had noticed she had been acting a little weird since Chicago but he also knew she was going through a lot. Everything she had been through and then the incident in Chicago. He knew to give her time she needed.
"Where is Cad? I found the perfect house for her and the kids-" He caught himself. "The kid." He laughed it off.
"She's upstairs. I didn't know she had even started looking..." He trailed off. He wasn't sure if he was ready to go back to being alone. He also wasn't sure she should start living alone.
"Yeah well you know I told her this isn't good for Arii. She needs her own stuff, her own room and everything. I just looked at this house it's only a couple of blocks away." Patrick stopped as he caught the look on Pete's face. "You have to let her do this her way. If you even want to consider being with her you have got to give her time." He hit his friend on the arm. "She's not moving to Alaska." He laughed.
Pete nodded, he didn't agree with Patrick but he wasn't going to fight it. He would just have to act like he thought this was okay and work on swaying Cadence to stay with him. He wanted this to be her home. It should of always been that way.
"I'll be back." Patrick nodded to him as he ran up the stairs. A few minutes later he came back down stairs with Ariana and Cadence following behind him. "You wanna come?" Patrick looked at Pete.
Before Pete could answer, Cadence cut in. "No, stay relax you have to go over tomorrows cues." She reminded Pete.
"She's right." Pete let out a half smile. He really thought they had been getting so close but ever since they came back from Chicago she had been getting weirder and weirder. When they left they had been making love close to every night. She couldn't keep her hands off of him and now she had started sleeping in the guest room. Everything took a complete 180.
"Come on baby." Cadence smiled as she took Ariana's hand and they walked out of the house following Patrick.
Pete sighed and collapsed against the couch. His mind had been racing so much about so many thoughts. He knew she had gotten David's autopsy results back. She hadn't shared with him what they had said. What if she knew? What if she knew and that's why she was running away from him? He was a killer and maybe now she was scared of him. "Oh god." He moaned as he put his hands over his face. "What the fuck have you done?" He sighed to himself.
"I love it." Cadence smiled as she looked around the house. The realtor had let them in but Patrick made her wait downstairs so he could see if Cadence really loved it. It was a little bit out of the price range that she had said she was willing to spend or thought she could pay him back but he really thought this house was the one for her start. Her new happy life.
"You want it?" Patrick smiled. "I can write the check right now. You can move in this week. We'll get the furniture.." Patrick trailed off as he looked at her.
"I want to say I want it." She sighed. "But can I afford this and all the new furniture? Everything is destroyed at the house other than what I grabbed when I left with Pete."
"I hate when you talk to me about money. But, yes, you can afford it. I take payment plans." Patrick gave her a smile. "I owe you this much, Cad. I've really done you wrong. You know that."
"Patrick, don't ever say that. I wouldn't have gotten through this if it wasn't for you." She hugged him tight.
"Mama, I wanna live here." Ariana looked up at her mother as she had been running around looking through all the rooms.
"Well the princess speaks." Patrick looked at Cadence and she didn't even have to say anything because he could see all the gratefulness in her eyes.
"Ok, we'll live here." Cadence nodded.
Patrick smiled, leaned over and kissed her on the head and went downstairs to talk to the realtor. The check was already written and all she had to say is that she wanted the house. He would give her anything she wanted if he thought it would ease her pain.
Cadence let out a deep breath, one hand resting on her belly. "Here's our fresh start." She smiled as she looked down at Ariana. "Momma's gonna do this for us and we're gonna be okay." She nodded as she picked up her daughter and walked downstairs.
"Here are the keys to your new house madam." Patrick smiled as he handed her the keys.
"Really just like that?" She was shocked. "Just like that." He hugged her tightly. "Now let's go furniture shopping! Ariana gets a princess room! Ohhh Arii do you want a bed that looks like a carriage? Like the one in Cinderella?" Patrick asked as he picked her up into his arms.
"I'm a princess!" She smiled.
"Patrick, no." Cadence shook her head. "I know where you are going. No."
"Yes." Patrick nodded. "Oh yes, I am going there." He smiled as they walked out of the house.
Cadence couldn't help the smile on her face. Maybe just maybe everything was going to be okay.
