It had been almost three months since Cadence had walked out of his living room and basically out of his life. After everything that had been said that night he wasn't surprised when she didn't return his phone calls or text messages. But he was however shocked as hell when he walked into the set of Best Ink and found that Cadence had gotten a job transfer to another show. He had found out she was now working on Tori Spelling's reality series. The money was better, or so he had heard. He had a feeling she was avoiding him at all costs.
Pete pulled up to Joe's house an eyed the cars that were in the driveway. There were a lot of them. Joe's wife, Daniella had delivered Isabella about a month ago and Pete had made sure to go over and see her all of the time. He was missing his son and he was also missing Arii. He really thought he was going to get to be in her life for a while. He felt a knot form in his stomach as he saw Cadence's jeep sitting in the drive way.
He knocked on the door and heard Joe yell come in and walked in. He was surprised when he only saw Joe, Izzy, Patrick and Ariana. "Where is everyone?" He questioned. "I saw all the cars..." He eyed Patrick. Things had been a little bit tense between the two of them every once in a while but right now Patrick was his only outlet to know how Cadence and his unborn child were.
"The girls went out. It's and I quote.." Joe laughed as he was about to repeat this. "..time for the girls to go out without having to worry about dirty diapers, puke, or jaded rockstars!" He nodded. He knew they hadn't met any harm and Dani had been working so hard raising their daughter and well she deserved one night out to go out and have fun. Plus, she was with Lisa, who was a cop, Cad and Kacy. They would stay out of trouble.
"Where did they go?" Pete raised an eyebrow.
"I don't know a bar, a club..somewhere to dance." Joe answered as he rocked Izzy in his arms.
Pete looked at Patrick and shook his head. He was supposed to be watching Cadence and now she was out in some club, three and a half months pregnant. God knows what could happen to her!
Lisa smiled as she sipped on her drink. She was keeping a close eye on Cadence just as Patrick had instucted. They were the only two people outside of Pete to know about Cadence being pregnant. She didn't want to divulge any information until she had started to show and surprisinly she hadn't even gained any weight yet and yes she had been to the doctor and and into her second trimester.
"Ok, we have got to sit down for a minute." Dani yelled over the music as she sipped on her drink. She just wanted to go out and dance and sing and have fun and she couldn't think of a better group of girls to do it with.
"You're not calling Joe again." Cadence shook her head as she ripped the phone out of Dani's hands. "Izzy is fine. Patrick is there." She wanted to reassure her friend. She had already called twice and checked in to make sure that Joe had done this or done that. She needed to let him build his confidence as a father.
"You trust them that much?" Kacy looked over at Cadence. She had a small smile playing on her lips. "I mean I wouldn't trust them to babysit my gold fish."
"Oh stop!" Cadence laughed. "They're fine." She handed Dani back her cell phone. "Oh! I love this song. Come on." She grabbed Dani's hand and dragged her to the dance floor.
Pete grunted as he threw his phone against the couch. He had left Joe's after a little while and had been trying to text and call Cadence. It was not safe for her to be out in some sweaty club, guys touching on her. She was pregnant! What if something bad happened? She was not supposed to be this irresponsible and he could feel the anger well up inside of him.
Grabbing his phone he opened a new text message and started to pound away on the screen of his touch phone.
Cadence had gone back to the table with Lisa when she had started to feel a little tired. She knew her body and she knew when enough was enough. She felt her phone vibrate against her hip and pulled it out. She sighed as she saw his name across the screen. She swiped her finger across the screen and opened the text message.
'don't you think it's a little irresponsible to be out getting drunk while you're pregnant with my child?'
Cadence sighed. It was time she replied to him. She had enough of his bullshit. 'i'm not getting drunk, actually i'm sitting at a table with lisa taking a break from dancing. not that its any of your concern.'
'it is my concern when that's my child you're carrying.'
'and i'm sorry that it is, but i can't change my mistakes. i don't know why you can't just leave me alone. i know how to care for a child.'
'obviously not when you let your daughter live with a drug addict.' Pete wrote the message and immediately regretted what he had said. She had been finding a way to push all of his buttons lately but he had never been so mean to her and now it seemed like all he did was yell at her.
Cadence's heart stopped. 'yeah who you murdered. you still wanna run your mouth?'
Five minutes later Pete still stared at the screen at her message.
'didn't think so.' was the last message that popped up on his screen. Pete grunted one more time and threw his phone to the side. When was he going to start being able to fix things instead of fucking them up even more? He couldn't have screwed up this whole situation more if he had tried to on purpose. He also partly blamed Patrick for all of this. He had to get involved and probably told Cadence she needed to be single and work on herself. Patrick was always trying to get between the two of them.
