Chapter 17: Sit back, just sit back, Sit back and relax

A week later

"You called your mom right? You told her you were coming right?" Delia asked securing Paige's car seat.

"Yeah, I called her yesterday, she said she'd love to see me again," Brendon raised his eye brows as he stepped into the car.

Delia checked Paige's car seat again and sat in the car.

Brendon pulled out.

Delia started to twiddle her fingers, nervously.

They drove in silence for a minute until Delia said, "Were you this nervous, when we went to tell my mom?" Delia asked, looking at him.

"More," Brendon plainly said.

"Oh," Delia said. "I'm sorry, because I feel terrible right now."

"My family has that affect on people," Brendon smiled.

"Thanks for warning me," Delia said.

"Sorry," Brendon said, as they pulled in a paved drive way.

"Ready?" Brendon pulled the keys out of the ignition.

"I guess, as much as I'll ever be," Delia unbuckled her seat belt.

"Okay, well I'm gonna go talk to my mom for a second, ummm I kinda failed to mention that you were coming," Brendon Undid his seat belt and stepped out of the car.

"You're kidding me?" Delia stepped out of the car and opened the back door to get Paige out.

"Afraid so," Brendon turned and walked up the walk way to the front door, which was adored with a seasonal wreath.

Ding, Dong, Ding, Dong.

Brendon rang the door bell.

Brendon's mother opened the door, with a smile plastered on her face.

"Hi, mom," Brendon said, faking a smile.

"Brendon, honey it's so nice to see you again," His mother pulled him into a hug.

She let go, "So what was the news you wanted to tell me and your father? It's such a shock that you're here."

"Well, mom I wanted you to meet someone," Brendon said taking the fake smile off.
"Wow, you've never brought anyone home to meet your parent's," Brendon mom said.

"I know," Brendon shook his head.

(Brendon thinking> that because my family's all freaks.)

"Where is she? She is a she right?" His mother said seriously.

"Of course she's a she mother. She's getting the baby out of the car," Brendon winced out the last few words.

"She has a baby, oh, well are... is it? Umm you. Are you?" His mother stuttered.

"I am," Brendon said.

"Oh, that's why you're here to tell me this, trying to put me in an early grave. That's clear," Mrs. Urie said.

Delia walked, slowly up the walked way carrying Paige.

"Well, what's her name? Her and the... baby," His mother choked on the last word.

"Her names Delia and the baby's name is Paige Quinn Clark-Urie," Brendon told her.

Delia walked up to the door, where they were both standing.

(Delia thinking> Oh this feels like the walk of shame.)

She stood next to Brendon holding Paige.

Delia looked like she was gonna be sick.

"Come in," Mrs. Urie motioned inside.

Brendon held the door open for Delia and Paige.

Brendon walked in right next to Delia.

Mrs. Urie sat down .

"Sit back, sit back, relax a little," Mrs. Urie told them.

They both sat down.

Delia continued to appear sick, tapping her teeth nervously.

She gripped on to Paige a little tightly.

Brendon mother looked sad.

Brendon was just sitting there in the awkward silence.

Brendon's mother sighed.

Delia's breathing got heavy but unnoticed able.

Mrs. Urie smiled at Delia and then started to laugh.

(Brendon thinking > WHAT THE HELL IS SHE LAUGHING AT?)
"You're scared of me?" Mrs. Urie continued to laugh.

Brendon looked at his mother and started to laugh.

Delia turned to look at Brendon and he stopped still giggling a little.

Brendon's mother stopped laughing smiling at her.

"You have no reason to be scared of me," She smiled at her.

Delia eased up a little and even managed to smile.

"Can I hold her?" Mrs. Urie asked.

"Sure," Delia passed Paige over to her grandmother.

Mrs. Urie held her for a few minutes then handed her back to Delia.

"So, long did you delay to tell me that I have a grand child?" Mrs. Urie said.

"She's was born about.... Two weeks ago," Brendon said.

"Oh, jez your skinny then," Mrs. Urie said.

"Oh, after she was born," Delia said.

"Oh, how bad was it?" Mrs. Urie asked seriously.

"Oh, I just almost died, it was nothing," Delia said, calming looking down at Paige.

"Oh, Thank you for telling me in person, I know of what a chore it was for you to do telling me," Mrs. Urie said standing up.

"Bye, Mom," Brendon gave her a hug.

"Don't be strangers," she said opening the door for them.

"Bye," Delia said as she walked out the door, following Brendon.

Brendon opened the car door for Delia to put Paige in her car seat.

"That went better, and then I thought it would," Brendon said.

"I thought I was gonna be sick," Delia said.

"I noticed, she scared you that much?" Brendon sat in the car.

"She terrified me," Delia sat in the car.

"Oh, I'm sorry," Brendon leaned over and kissed her on the cheek.

"It's okay," Delia smiled.

Brendon put the keys in the ignition and pulled out.
"Which was worst? Telling your mom or meeting slash telling my mom," bRENDON ASKED.

"Still telling my mom," Delia said.

Brendon smiled, "I concur."
