Dinner was silent for everyone.

Her parents were going over paper-work at the table- neither of them even bothering to ask their children how school was.

"How was work, dad," Kenneth asked.

"Good, good," the elder man replied.

He still wore his suit and tie from earlier, but his silver and black hair was less kempt. The glasses that he always wore were almost at the tip of his nose, and his green eyes scanned the paper in his hand.

"And you mom?"

Kaylee glanced over at her mother, who didn't look up.

"Fine; work is work, Kenneth." She sighed, flipping the thick packet in front of her.

His father swiftly looked up at his wife, whose lips were pursed with annoyance.

"He's only trying to strike up a conversation, Hun."

"Yes, thank you for pointing that out, but we have lots of work… Speaking of work, how did you two do on your math tests?"

Kenneth's eyes widened, sweat covering his façade. Kaylee, on the other hand, gave a nod.

"Good; I got an 80%."

"Only an 80," her father questioned in disbelief, "That's below-par for you, K. I thought you'd do better- you usually do."

"Kenneth," her mother addressed, "You haven't told us anything yet."

The black haired teen nibbled on his lower lip for an excuse.

"I don't know…because…the teacher hasn't handed the tests out yet."

"Well, make sure to get it tomorrow."

Kenneth grinned in his cup, giving a nod.

"The school called, K," her mother suddenly said, "They said that you were unusually unfocused today, and that you kept glancing at the clock. Have someplace to be, besides school?"

"No, it's nothing like that…"

"Is it a boy?"

Kaylee gave a high-pitch whine, her throat going dry with the thought.

"Sorry that I've 'crossed that line that should never be crossed', but as a parent, I need to know."

"It's not a boy…"

"Then what is it? Are you coming down with something?"

"I don't know. I think it's just…paranoia."

Her father slightly looked up, in an effort to meet Kaylee's face.

"What's got you so paranoid, kiddo?"

Kaylee shrugged, now having everybody's attention.

"I just feel like there isn't enough time in the day anymore, you know; like the more I sit around and do nothing, the faster time goes by. I feel as if…time is in an hour glass, and it's only a few grains of sand until time runs out. Have you guys ever felt that?"

"No." They said this in unison, all staring at her as if she had turned radioactive.

"It will probably go away, but if it doesn't, I'm taking you to a psychologist," her mother said, "Now finish eating. You food is getting cold."

~

Kaylee threw her backpack into a forgotten corner in her bedroom, and hopped into her computer chair. She quickly turned her lap-top on, her foot tapping in anxiety.

Once she got the chance, she clicked on the Internet icon and went onto Netflix.

Glancing quickly at the bottom of her computer, Kaylee read the time: 9:25p.m.

Good, she has about an hour before she has to go to bed. She did promise her mother that she'd go to bed at a decent hour, when she was doing the dishes.

"Come on, come on…where are you," she whispered, looking for her anime show. She's been stuck on this anime series, Black Butler, for a long, LONG time. It didn't take her even a week to blow through the first season.

Here she is, six days later- barely at the season finale of Season 2. To watch the show was almost addicting to Kaylee. Not to mention, the comedy in it was classic!

Psycho Pass- good show, but sick villain, Fairy Tale- hilarious, RWBY- never get tired of it, Death Note- watched it to death (pun intended), Fullmetal Alchemist- awesome, Twilight 1-4- was good but got tired really fast, The Devil Wears Prada- unrealistic but funny, The Phantom of the Opera- the most beautiful love story ever created, The Hunger Games 1-2- typical female lead, Epic- weird but good, and Avatar- cool graphics…but where was Black Butler?

Growling with irritation, Kaylee went into the search engine, and typed in what she wanted to watch.

It thankfully came up.

"Finally…"

~

Kaylee turned her computer off, a disappointed look on her face.

About half way into one episode, she gave up on watching her series. All through it, she kept glancing at the time almost every five or six minutes. It finally got to the point to where she didn't know what was happening.

"Stupid paranoia," she mumbled irritably, "Can't even watch an episode without being worried about time…" Her head drifted to the clock.
It was 9:55p.m.

"I should go to bed," she told herself.

"Stop talking to yourself," Kenneth whined from in his room.

His bedroom was diagonal from hers, and truth be told, the walls weren’t very thick in her house.

"Just go to sleep," Kaylee yelled back.

Kaylee closed her bedroom door all the way, as silently as she could, before hopping in her bed.

Hopefully this growing paranoia will stop; if she's lucky enough, tomorrow.
