The Austrians shelled us, but no attack was made. They are most likely trying to weaken our defenses so they can charge again, tomorrow. No one was injured, like usual. But still, word goes around about the dead man. Talk about possibilities of what could’ve done it, or who could’ve done it. The gossip is rather annoying. Men talking behind others’ backs. It’s not a good habit. It will only get them to turn on their officers. And if that happens, only bad things will happen. We will be weakened from it, and the Austrians will overwhelm us. That is the last thing anyone wants. So, I have spread that around. I’m not sure if it is working, but I imagine it will. The truth can’t be denied, no matter how painful it is.

the truth is not there.
