His writing is truly shocking, especially to Nieri. He finally came back. Said he was going to check and see if he could find some game to hunt. Didn’t come back with anything, though. Fabron told him that it could get him in a load of trouble, should anyone higher than him hear about it. He did not care. But when we showed him the letter, he was confused. He asked why we gave it to him. We told him that it was because we were unsure who The Austrian was talking about, and so we were giving it to everyone. We hoped it would reveal something. But it did not. No one showed any panic. We are now more baffled than ever. Who is he talking about? Is he right? Is there someone among us that did that? I pray not. We don’t want what happened there to happen to us. We don’t want it to happen to anyone, ever.
