Chapter 61: Minbar

Captain’s log: Stardate 57840.5 - The Bajorans are continuing to colonize the systems that they can reach with their subspace sailing ships. We have been sent to investigate their newest colony on Torros 6. In the Argos’ Universe, this Planet was part of the Cardassian Union and was inhabited sole by Cardassians. Apparently, in the distant past, the planet had an indigenous race.

Torros 6

The transporter beam materialized a quartet of beings: Commander Harry Kim was in command of this expedition. Lieutenant Pram, who was Andorian, was to substitute as Science Officer. The EMH Doctor was here in case any Medical needs arose. And the Kzin: Lieutenant Mao was here to act as Security Officer. As soon as they landed, Pram pulled out his tricorder and started scanning.

“The settlement appears to be that way,” announced Pram.

“Lieutenant Mao, you will take the lead,” commanded Kim.

“Aye sir,” replied Lieutenant Mao, as he pulled his phaser out and started out. It was a cold day and all except the EMH were wearing their full uniforms, including the Jacket.

The terrain was a dense forrest of what ever filled the same ecological niche as conifers did and the massive crystals protruded from the ground everywhere. They had gone a few hundred meters when a native jumped out from behind a large crystal and attacked with a two ended spear. It was a shaft with a crystal spearhead attached to each end. The native himself was dressed in animal skins with a hood over his head. His skin was a paler shade than most humans and he didn’t had any hair sticking out of the hood that covered his head.

“Go away invader!” screamed the native, as he swung the point at Lieutenant Mao. “This is our land!”

The Kzin Security Officer leaped back to avoid the spear point and pointed his phaser at the native, who knocked it out of his hand with the middle of his staff. Lieutenant Mao dodged another slash with the spear-tip, then stepped in to deliver a punch to the throat. The native fell down, choking and in doing so, his hood fell of to reveal he had an external shell on his head in the place where many races have hair.

“Did you have to break his larynx!?!” grumbled the Doctor, as he stepped forward to both save the native’s life and repair the damage that Lieutenant Mao had done. “He’s too badly injured! I need the facilities of sick bay. Medical Emergency! Two to beam up!”

“Belay that!” commanded Kim. “We can not let you take him on the ship. The prime directive forbids it.”

“Commander, It I don’t get this man the care he need he’s going to die!” protested The Doctor.

“Then he will die,” stated Commander Kim. “We still can not bring him aboard the Argos.”

“Then you have just signed his death warrant!” replied the Doctor.

“I just meant to incapacitate him,” said Lieutenant Mao.

“He attacked you,” replied Kim. “He left you no choice. Let us continue to the settlement.”

“You just going to leave him here to die!” protested The Doctor.

“That is an Order,” confirmed Kim. “He will not live long in his current condition. Lieutenant Mao, resume the lead.”

“I’m afraid we’re too late . . .” said the Doctor. “He’s dead, Kim.”

Reluctantly, the EMH Doctor let the poor man lay there in the snow and followed the landing party.

Soon they spotted the wall of the Bajoran settlement. They had just gathered the crystals and piled them up in mortarless walls around their new settlement on this world.

Suddenly there was a ‘CRACK!’ and the snow next to Lieutenant Mao’s feet flew into the air where the bullet hit it.

“THAT’S FAR ENOUGH!” yelled a voice from the wall. It was one of the Bajorans on top of the wall, who was frantically trying to reload her matchlock firearm.

Commander Kim flipped a switch near his throat which caused his implants to amplify his voice.

“We mean you no harm,” called out Commander KIm. “We just want to talk!”

“WE’LL SEND SOMEONE OUT!” yelled the Bajoran. Soon, the wooden gates of the fort opened and a Bajoran walked out until she was 4 meters from them.

“Who are you? What are you?” she asked. She was dressed in a fur parka with bright red pants. The pants and her shoes looked a lot more elaborate than the parka, which was of much cruder make, but also looked newer that the rest of her clothes.

“We are Commander Harry Kim, Lieutenant Pram, Lieutenant Mao, and The Doctor. We represent the United Federation of Planets, a multi-species organization with members from many worlds.”

“So, you also know how to sail between the worlds?” asked the Bajoran.

“We have a different method of traveling between the stars,” replied Kim. “We are new to this world. What have you found here?”

“It is a cold place,” replied the Bajoran, “but the minerals and furs are plentiful here.”

“What are the natives like?” asked Lieutenant Pram.

“The Mimbars? They’re just a bunch of savages!” spat the Bajoran. “We’ll soon bring them to heel. That’s assuming they don’t all die of the sniffles like they did on Bardeezi.”

“Are you saying the local people are suffering from some sort of plague?” asked the Doctor.

“I’m sure it’s just a cold,” replied the Bajoran. “It doesn’t seem to affect us. But on the other hand, the Mimbars are not having a mass die off like the Bardeezis did.”

“The way you have piled up those crystals to make a wall is fascinating,” said Kim. “Do you think we might be able to get a closer look at them?”

“Sure! You seem like civilized people,” said the Bajoran, as she led them towards the fort. “I’m Irpo Gleli, by the way.”

Inside the fort, the buildings were also made of of crystals piled up. Even the rooves were made of the crystals. Irpo let them into a building where a bunch of Bajoran men were cooking. Unlike humans, the men in Bajoran society were the ones who wore mid calf length dresses, cooked and did child care. At Irpo’s orders, they were all served hot cups of tea that seemed to be made of the local tree needles.

“You seem like you do not enjoy this weather,” observed Lieutenant Pram, who had taken off his jacket, because the room was too warm for him, while the Bajorans seemed like they were all too cold in spite of the fire. “If you don’t like the cold, why did you come to this world?”

“Didn’t have any choice,” replied Irpo. “On Bajor, the followers of the Prophets are killing those of us who listen to the Daemons.”

“Do you have a Daemon that you listen to?” asked Kim.

“No. I’m not so favored by them,” replied Irpo. “But our Priestess does. She was the one who told us to come here.”

As the landing party continued to get to know the Bajoran colonists, the sun started going down and they members of the landing party who were not in conversation with their leaders had more freedom to wander about.

“Commander, I found something you need to see,” said the Doctor. “You should ALL see.”

“If you will excuse us,” said Kim, before they followed the Doctor to behind a building where there was a refuse pile. mixed in with the pile were the external head shells of 30-40 of the natives of this planet.

“They are killing the natives in large numbers,” said the Doctor.

“Oh, that?” said Irpo, who had followed them. “Yeah, we put a bounty on the head bones. They’re just a bunch of savages.”

Suddenly, there was a shout. They all ran in that direction. but when they reached the center of the fort it the shouts began coming from all around them as the guards were taken out. It was now apparent that hundreds of the natives were coming over the walls in an attack.

“We think it is time for us to leave,” said Kim. “Kim to Argos, four to beam up.”

Deep Space - USS Argos - Councilor Medi’s office

“I have come for the counciling session you suggested,” said Captain Data.

“Why don’t you sit down? Make your self comfortable,” suggested Councilor Medi. “Do you mind if I just call you Data?”

“You wish to establish a more casual relationship by dropping my rank title,” observed Data.

“That’s right,” confirmed Medi. “And it would also help if you would turn on your emotion chip. Now then . . .You hardly even use this emotion chip. Why is that?”

“I have not yet learned the proper times to use my emotions,” explained Data. “I noticed on my past assignment that it disturbed my shipmates when I would experience bouts of extreme emotion, especially grief.”

“What kinds of things set off these bouts of grief?” asked Medi.

“The loss of loved ones,” replied Data. “Especially the ones that I could not love back at the time. I had a daughter, Lahl. She loved me and told me so before she died. But at the time, did not yet have this emotion chip. I could not feel love back for her and now that I can, it is too late to tell her.”

Data was starting to wipe tears from his eyes.

“What other kinds of things cause you grief?” asked Medi.

“Relationships,” replied Data. “Before I obtained my emotion chip, I had a few relationships. The first one was with a shipmate of mine, a Security Officer named Tasha Yar. She died in the line of duty. Killed on a whim by an entity just to show us he was dangerous. At the time we were involved, our relationship was purely physical. I was unable to feel emotion. But now that I can . . . . I realize that I loved her! . . . I didn’t know it . . . but I LOVED her!”

By now, Data was openly bawling his grief. Medi moved closer and pulled him into a hug. She held him until he had fully cried out his grief. When she felt him relax his grip on her, she leaned back to look him in the eye. He starred at her for a moment before leaning down for a kiss, to which she responded and kissed him back, passionately. She parted her lips slightly and he entered her mouth with his tongue, to which she responded in kind. When his hands started wandering away from her back, she moved hers to around his neck so there would be no obstacle to his caressing her front side. He ran his hands over her covered dress and she hummed in response to the pleasure she was feeling, even through the fabric.

“Councilor, are we about to-” asked Data, before she shushed him.

“Shhhh, don’t talk. Just do.” said Medi before she pulled him back into a kiss.

When he pulled up on the hem of her dress, she shifted so he could pull it up over her head. Now that her chest was bare, he could touch her skin with his hands, which her hums told him she enjoyed. When the pleasure became too much for her, she broke off and stood up. taking by the hand, she led him to the bed which was in her office. Once there, she went back to kissing him and helping him out of his uniform, while he helped her finish undressing.

Their love making was was passionate and he lasted long enough to give her several orgasms. When he finally shuddered his release, she pulled him into a hug and caressed his back.

“Does this mean that we have started a romantic relationship?” asked Data, he had leaned back but was still inside her, in part, because she’d dug her ankles into the back of his thighs to hold him closely inside her.

“No, Data. I gave myself to you because I felt you needed it;” replied Medi. “You needed to make Love to someone. To experience Love and being Loved.”

“Are we going to be engaging in . . . doing this in future sessions?” asked Data.

“We may or may not,” replied Medi. “It depends on whether or not I feel your emotional well being would be helped by it.”

“So you do not love me?” asked Data, sadly.

“I’m a trained Medeusan Harlot Priestess,” explained Medi. “I can assure you that in this moment, I Love you deeply than any human woman would be capable of. I Love you so much, that I want to do what’s best for you, which may not necessarily be what you want.”

“So it is much like I, as Captain have to make decisions based on what is best for the crew, not on what they desire,” observed Data. “What will happen now?”

“Well, you’re still inside me,” observed Medi. “And I can feel that you are still hard.”

“Yes,” replied Data. “I am capable of maintaining my erection for as long as my partner desires it.”

“Right now, I’m more concerned with what you desire,” said Medi. “We can make Love another time of two if that’s what you want.”

“Yes. I would like that very much,” said Data before lowering himself so that he could kiss her again.

After four more climaxes for him and many more for her, they finally separated and got dressed.

“You may turn off your emotion chip for now,” allowed Medi. “Before next week, I would like you to turn on your emotion chip and meditate on what we just experienced for an hour each day.”

“I shall do that,” replied Data, as he gave her a handshake. “Thank you for your assistance.”
