Birds. Birds are actually quite the interesting creatures. Well, they are to me at least. Usually, I do not have favorite things. I do not have a favorite food, I do not have a favorite animal, I do not have a favorite clothing style. I only have preferences. That does not make it my favorite though. I prefer chocolate ice cream over vanilla, but that does not make chocolate my favorite flavor. I prefer hoodies over long-sleeved shirts, but that does not make hoodies my favorite clothing. I prefer cats over dogs, but that does not make cats my favorite animal. A favorite of something means that it is the top choice. A preference means to make a choice of one over another. And with most things, I do not have a favorite. But let us go back to the start. Birds. That is where we were. Birds are not my favorite animal. But here comes the funny thing. While birds may not be my favorite animal, I do have a favorite type of bird. Luzon bleeding-heart. They are my favorite type of birds. Their German name literally translates to "Luzon dagger stab pigeon". I love that. I like the bird, and I like the name of the bird - in both English and German. Because of the red patch on their chest, they literally look like they have been stabbed and now their heart is bleeding. And I think that is beautiful. I also thought that they might look like their heart was ripped out, but that felt a little too brutal. They are such cute birds, they do not deserve their heart ripped out. Of course, there are also other kinds of bleeding-hearts, like the Mindanao bleeding-heart. But personally, I like the Luzon bleeding-heart more. I do not really know why, but I think they are prettier. I can not really explain it. I sometimes do not understand myself after all. I do not understand it myself. I think I just might have a peculiar or interesting taste when it comes to certain things. Now that I think about it, maybe they do deserve their heart ripped out. I do not know. After all, I do not know anything about these birds. I do not know about what they do, I do not know about how they live, I do not know anything. It might as well be that they deserve their heart ripped out. I know that it sounds brutal, but you never know. I wonder if I would mind seeing having their heart ripped out. Would I cry? Would I be be disgusted? Would I even react in the first place? I do not know this, and I do not know whether I want to ever figure it out or if I would prefer for it to stay a secret for all of eternity. It is and probably will forever be an answered question. But, hey. At least I will have a favorite type of bird until then.
