Sonic, Sonia, and Manic walked into Tails' lab to see whatever new invention the young fox was eager to show off.
Tails grinned. "I'm so glad you all could be here." He exclaimed. "I finally finished my new invention!"
"What is it?" Sonic asked.
Tails pulled a large sheet off of a machine. "This is the Instant transporter!"
The machine had two large pods and a large flat screen monitor set on a stand placed between the pods. Two long cords connected the pods to the monitor.
Sonic eyed Tails' new instant transporter machine suspiciously. "You sure this is a good idea?"
"It'll revolutionize the travel industry." Tails said excitedly. "Think about it. It'll be cheaper, safer, and quicker. It's also guaranteed to never cause motion sickness."
"But it may merge you with a fly." Sonic muttered.
Sonia elbowed Sonic in his ribs.
Sonic hissed in pain.
"So Manic already agreed." Tails said.
Manic furrowed his brow. "I did?"
Tails looked at Manic incredulously. "Yes. I asked you yesterday and you nodded."
Sonic shook his head.
"Oh." Manic said. He walked into one of the transport pods and sat down on the floor. "Let's get this over with."
Tails turned to face Sonia and Sonic. "So…."
"No." Sonic said.
"I'll help you, Tails." Sonia said, walking to the machine.
"Thanks, Sonia." Tails replied.
Sonia sat down in the transport pod.
"I'll set it for… downtown." Tails said, tapping some buttons on the computer. He activated the machine.
The doors on the pods closed and lights flashed on the pods.
After a few minutes, the machine stopped.
Tails opened the doors.
Sonia and Manic were still in the pods.
"Crashin' light show, Tails, but it didn't work." Sonia said.
"Oh, no." Sonic muttered.
"What?" Sonia asked.
"My machine made you two swap bodies." Tails replied.
Sonia, in Manic's body, finally marched out of the transport pod. "Swap us back."
"Then get back in." Tails said.
Sonia and Manic ran back to the pods.
Tails activated the machine.
The computer between the pods exploded.
Tails and Sonic flinched back.
The doors slid open again.
"Did it work?" Tails asked.
Manic and Sonia looked at themselves. "No."
Tails sighed. "I'm sorry. It'll take me a few days to fix it at the most." He said. I'll have to buy new parts."
"Great." Sonia and Manic muttered.
"I know, I'll do whatever I can to fix it in the meantime." Tails replied.
"Thank you, Tails." Manic said.
Sonia nodded. She noticed the long spines hanging in her face. "Manic, how do you see anything with the spines?"
Manic shrugged. "Used to it, I guess." He said. "Uh, can we head home? I feel awful."
"I guess today was overwhelming." Tails replied. "We can hang out later. You and Sonia can go rest. There's no point in celebrating a failed invention."
Sonic patted Tails on the back. "You can do it, bro."

Sonic woke up at six-thirty for no real reason.
He looked at Sonia (in Manic's body), who was still fast asleep.
"I guess I'll have a minute to drink coffee in peace." Sonic thought.
He walked into the hallway and saw Manic walking out of the bathroom.
"You okay, bro?" Sonic asked.
"I think Tails' machine made me sick." Manic muttered. "I've been up since five, throwing up."
Sonic grimaced. "I think I lost my appetite."
Manic turned around and headed back into the bathroom.
Sonic heard Manic gagging and raced to the kitchen before he got sick too.
Sonia finally joined Sonic in the kitchen.
Sonic set a huge plate of pancakes on the table. "Is Manic still in the bathroom?"
"Yeah." Sonia said, pouring herself some coffee.
"I guess I should make him some toast." Sonic said, getting the loaf of bread out of their cabinet.
Manic shuffled in and flopped down in his seat at the table.
Sonia got Manic some ginger ale out of their fridge.
Sonic looked at Manic. "I'm making you some toast." He said, putting a couple slices of bread into the toaster. "We'll go and see Tails as soon as you try to eat and drink your ginger ale."
Tails grinned. "I'm so glad you all could be here." He exclaimed. "I finally finished my new invention!"
