The royal triplets huddled in their home. Sonic and Manic had just finished boarding up their windows.
Sonia put her arms around her brothers.
Sonic and Manic hugged Sonia.
"I know, sis." Sonic said. "I'm scared too."
The wind picked up, sounding almost like an entire fleet of Robotnik's airships flying over.
The lights flickered.
Sonia buried her face in Manic's chest, crying.
Manic rubbed Sonia's back. "It's okay, we'll be okay."
The lights went completely out, leaving the hedgehogs in the dark.
Manic looked in Sonic's direction. "Bro?"
"It's okay, I'm here." Sonic replied. "It'll be over in a couple of hours."
The rain and wind battered the house for the next few hours.
**
At seven in the morning, it still was as dark as it would be at midnight.
Finally, the wind died down and the rain stopped.
Needless to say, the siblings didn't sleep at all that night.
Manic noticed a few rays of sunlight shining through the cracks between the boards on the window.
"Sun's out." Manic said. "Let's check the damage."
The siblings got up.
"Sonia, make us some coffee on the camp stove." Sonic said.
Sonia nodded.
Sonic and Manic headed outside.
Sonic walked around the house while Manic looked around the garage.
"Our van's still in good shape." Manic said, walking out of the garage.
"The base is still in good shape." Sonic replied. "We'll have to wait until everything is back online to see if our appliances still work."
Manic nodded.
"That's good." Sonic said, looking around. "It seems like Mobotropolis didn't get the worst of it."
Manic exhaled slowly.
Sonic looked at Manic. "Bro?"
Manic hugged Sonic. "I thought we were gonna die, bro."
Sonic patted Manic on the back. "I know; I know."
Cyrus came by on a bicycle. "You guys, okay?"
Manic let go of Sonic. "Yeah."
"Just shaken up." Sonic replied. "So any word on the rest of Mobius?"
"We're still gathering intel." Cyrus said. "We're working to get power back here, but it may take a few weeks. Trevor said that Reneé told him that Anaise was wiped out."
Sonic and Manic grimaced.
"What about Ma?" Manic asked.
"Still searching." Cyrus replied. He glanced at Robotnik's fortress in the distance. "Too bad it couldn't have saved us some trouble."
Sonic nodded.
"Alright, I gotta get back to work." Cyrus said. "I'll bring you some supplies as soon as I can. What do you need?"
"Food; we have enough water for two weeks." Sonic said, counting it off on his fingers. "Oh, and gas for our generator."
"I'll see what I can do." Cyrus replied. "You know how it is."
"Thanks, Cyrus." Sonic and Manic said.
Cyrus headed back to the resistance command center as Sonic and Manic headed back to their house.
Sonia had their coffee mugs on the table waiting for them. "How was it?"
Sonic and Manic sat down. "No serious damage here, but Cyrus said it could take up to three weeks to get our power back."
"Three weeks?!" Sonia cried.
Manic sipped his coffee. "Aww, is the princess afraid of the dark and a cold shower?"
"Don't we have generators?" Sonia asked.
"We don't have much fuel." Sonic replied. "So we can't run them continuously."
Sonia slumped in her seat. "We don't have much food."
"We'll have to ration our rations." Manic said. "No one said being a resistance fighter would be easy."
**
At one in the afternoon, it was now eighty degrees outside.
Without air conditioning, it certainly felt hotter in the house.
Manic sat at the table, with his feet propped on it, listening to music on an old CD player. "You all made fun of me for getting a battery powered CD player with rechargeable batteries, a solar powered charger, and this mesh shirt." He said. "Who's laughing now?"
"I stand corrected." Sonia replied.
"I don't even own a shirt." Sonic said.
"You win." Manic muttered. He turned his music up.
Sonia groaned. "Turn it down, Manic."
Manic turned it down. "I thought you'd like the entertainment."
Sonic and Sonia shook their heads.
"So how am I gonna wash clothes?" Sonia asked.
"By hand, in the sink." Sonic replied.
Sonia gagged. "Eww!"
"What?" Sonic asked. "It's your clothes."
Manic laughed. "Do you have something better to do?"
Sonia sighed. "No."
Sonia put her arms around her brothers.
Sonic and Manic hugged Sonia.
