Sonia scrubbed her nightgown in the sink. "How much longer?"

"Two weeks." Sonic said, flipping a page in his book.

Sonia dropped her nightgown in the sink, splashing water on herself. "That's it!" She yelled. "I've had it with this! We've got no food. We've got no clothes."

"Our pets' heads are falling off!" Manic yelled.

Sonic burst out laughing.

Manic smirked.

"This is not a joke, Manic hedgehog!" Sonia snapped.

"Chill out, sis." Manic said. "Sure it's difficult, but you're not making things better for any of us. We have it better than some."

Sonia folded her arms. "Oh, yeah? Like who?"

"The ones who didn't make it." Manic said, gritting his teeth.

Sonia sighed and hung up her nightgown in the shower before heading to her bunk.

Manic rubbed his temples. "Do you think she heard me?"

"Hard to say." Sonic said, setting his book down. He noticed Manic's muzzle had a slight purple tint. "Are you okay?"

"I'm starving." Manic replied. "I've only eaten about half of a can of beans. A little jerky… one banana."

"Eat something, bro." Sonic said. "I'll raid Bartleby's house before I let you starve to death, okay?"

Manic nodded. "Thanks, bro."

He got up and slowly headed to the kitchen.

Sonic got up to follow Manic in case he passed out.

Someone knocked on the door.

Sonic raced to the door. He opened the door and stepped aside. "Hey, Knux."

Knuckles came in, toting a large box.

"What's that?" Sonic asked.

"I heard that there was a hurricane." Knuckles replied. "So I brought some chicken for you all."

Manic staggered in. "I smell chicken."

"He's really hungry." Sonic said. "Thanks so much for this."

"Come on, Manic, let's get you fed." Knuckles said, walking with Manic into the kitchen.

Sonia came out of the bedroom. "Knuckles? What are you doing here?" She asked. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Knuckles replied. "I brought you all some roasted chicken."

The siblings and Knuckles sat at the table.

Sonia lit the kerosene lamp as Knuckles set the food on the table.

Sonic served everyone's meals.

Manic hurriedly ate his chicken as soon as Sonic set it on his plate, barely taking a moment to breathe.

Sonia looked at Manic. "Slow down, Manic."

Sonic realized that Manic only ate four half meals in the past few days, probably to let him and Sonia get enough to eat.

Manic finally finished his meal. "Oh, thank you so much, Knuckles."

"You're more than welcome." Knuckles replied.

Sonia kissed Knuckles on his cheek.

Knuckles blushed.

"So do you need anything, Knux?" Sonic asked.

"No, but thank you." Knuckles replied. "I'm well supplied. The hurricane didn't do any damage to the floating island."

"That's good news." Sonic said.

Sonia nodded. "Do you have warm showers there?"

Knuckles furrowed his brow. "No, not unless you boil it, but it's generally frowned upon in my culture."

"I guess you have to be pretty tough to take cold showers, huh?" Manic asked.

"Exactly." Knuckles replied.
