The Sonic Underground were rehearsing in one of the resistance bases outside of Robotropolis.

It was going to be their biggest show (especially since they heard their mother may be in the audience that night) and practice was going well until a loud metallic hum suddenly drowned out Sonic’s guitar and Manic’s drums.

Sonic cringed and stopped playing. “What is wrong with your keyboard, Sonia?”

Manic stopped drumming. “Is that what was so off?”

“I don't know.”Sonia said, looking over the keyboard. “It's fully charged.”

“Maybe Cyrus can fix it.” Sonic said, checking his watch. “I guess that's enough practice for now.”

Manic turned his drum kit back into a medallion and grabbed his hoverboard. “I’m going to get a smoothie. Meet you at the safe house.”

Sonic turned his guitar back into a medallion. “See you, bro.”

Manic got on his hoverboard and took off.

After several tries, Sonia finally got the keyboard to turn back into the medallion. She sat on a nearby stool and rubbed her head. She had been getting all sorts of headaches lately, from tension headaches to migraines. She had gone to a resistance doctor, but he couldn't find a cause.

Sonic knelt down in front of Sonia. “Getting another headache?”

“Yeah, a migraine.” Sonia replied.

“I'll get you some medicine.” Sonic said. “Meet you at the safe house.”

Sonic raced off.

Sonia stood up. “Wait, my motorcycle is still at-” She groaned. “Well, the safe house is only a block away.”

Sonia rubbed her temples as she walked down the street.By now, Sonic should've been looking for her since she hadn't arrived at the safe house.

“I bet he stopped for a chill dog.” Sonia muttered. She looked up and saw some swatbots surrounding Tails, one of the orphans from Sanctuary and Sonic's honorary little brother. She crept over and did a Sonia spin for just a few twirls since it made her nauseous. She stopped spinning and looked at the… undamaged swatbots.

Oddly enough, she had spun in place instead of moving a few feet like she usually did.

“Huh?” Sonia thought. “Well, I feel awful, so-”

“Please help me, Sonia.” Tails whimpered.

Several more swatbots surrounded Sonia and Tails.

Sonia tried to do a Sonia spin, but fell over. She quickly got up and tried again. She could only stagger as everything seemed to be spinning.

Sonia leaned against a nearby building. “Oh, vertigo too?” She thought. “What next?”

“Help!” Tails cried.

Sonia got her medallion. “Hold on, Tails.”

Loud static came out of the medallion.

Sonia shook the medallion. “What the heck is going on?”

A swatbot grabbed Sonia. Sonia screamed and tried her best to fight back.

“Hang on!” Sonic yelled. He ran over and spindashed all the swatbots.

Sonic ran over to Tails. “What're you doing away from Sanctuary?”

Manic came by on his hoverboard, drinking his smoothie. He did a double take at Sonia, who was nearly curled into a ball, and threw his smoothie away. He hopped off the board, which wasn't the smartest thing to do since he tumbled to the ground and scraped his arms and legs.

Manic scrambled to his feet and ran over to Sonia. He knelt down in front of Sonia. “What's wrong, sis?”

“Everything is spinning.” Sonia mumbled. She slowly uncurled and sat up, holding her head.

Manic got a flashlight out of his fanny pack. “You may have a concussion.” He said, tilting her head up. He gasped.

Sonia’s left eye was now some robotic red eye.

“Manic?” Sonia asked. “What's wrong? Why are you flashing a HUD display in my eyes?”

“You… how'd they roboticize you?” Manic asked.

Sonic and Tails ran over.

Tails quickly hid behind Sonic as soon as he saw Sonia's robotic eye.

“What're you talking about?” Sonia asked. “They didn't do anything to me.”

“You have a Terminator eye now.” Sonic said.

Sonia shook her head. “Boys, this is not funny.”

Manic grabbed her head. “Cripes! It's spreading.”

Sonic looked at the side of Sonia's head, which had slowly forming metallic patches on it. “At a snail's pace, but yeah.”

Sonia touched the sides of her head. One side was soft fur, the other side was cold metal. She fainted.

Sonic knelt down beside Sonia. “But how could this happen?”

Manic snapped his fingers. “That fake de-roboticizer.” He replied. “She was moaning before that scientist shoved her out of it and she's complained about feeling weird ever since then.”

“It shouldn't be spreading like that.” Sonic said, scooping her up in his arms.

“Unless that thing had a glitch or something.” Manic replied. “Maybe Cyrus can figure out what’s going on.”

“Ah, so it may work out after all.” Robotnik said, shutting off the surveillance monitor.

“What, sir?” Sleet asked.

“The phony de-roboticizer.” Robotnik replied. “It glitched and the robotization had a delayed reaction in Sonia.”

Dingo scratched his head. “What does that mean?”

“It means she's still turning into a cyborg.” Sleet replied.

“No, not Sonia.” Dingo whined.

Sleet smacked Dingo on the back of the head. “You pathetic excuse for a lackey. She's the enemy. How many times must I say it?”

Robotnik got up and walked over to the window. “Well, it's not how I planned it, but I'll accept it.” He said. “Sonic and Manic couldn't bring themselves to hurt their dear sister. They would get themselves killed while trying to talk her out of her programming.”

“It's brilliant, sir.” Sleet replied.

Robotnik laughed. “Of course it is. I thought of it.”

Sleet grimaced, but said nothing. It wouldn't do any good and he didn't want to face the roboticizer either.
