By the time the siblings and Tails made it to the resistance headquarters, Sonia had a cyborg arm and half of her head was metallic.

Sonia sat up with her eyes shut as she suffered through another wave of vertigo.

Sonic sat beside Sonia, watching Tails explore Cyrus’ lab.

Manic sulked in a corner, glaring at the wall.

Sonic looked at Tails. “So why were you away from Sanctuary?”

Tails shifted his weight from one foot to the other. “Well, when I heard Sally and Bunnie say they were coming and that you were supposed to be here, I-”

“Sal’s here?” Sonic asked.

Sally and Bunnie walked into the room.

“Well, that answers my question.” Sonic said. He hugged Sally. “Did you miss me?”

Sally let him go and smirked. “A little. Very little.”

“Ha, ha. Very funny.” Sonic said flatly.

Sally walked over to Manic. “Oh, it's nice to finally meet you after hearing so much about you and-”

“My stars.” Bunnie exclaimed. She walked over to Sonia. “You had a close call too, hon?”

“Yeah, about that.” Sonic said. “She hasn't been near a roboticizer since that phony de-roboticizer scam about a month or two ago and this started happening this morning. It probably started during practice because that's when she really started complaining about migraines.”

“I have vertigo too.” Sonia added.

“Hey, Sonic, great news.” Cyrus said, walking into the room. He froze as soon as he saw Sonia. “I've never seen anything like this.”

“Neither have I.” Sally replied.

“Bunnie never had this issue when she was partially exposed to a roboticizer.”

Cyrus found a USB port on the side of Sonia's head, below her head and plugged a USB cable, that was connected to the lab’s computer, into the port.

“So I heard that you could reset the system and make someone go back to their original personality.” Sally said, looking at Sonic. “How did you do it?”

“A synchronized blast from all three of our medallions.” Sonic replied. “Sonia’s hasn't worked since she started going cyborg.”

Sally nodded. “Hmm. Maybe we can find something with similar firepower as the medallions.”

“That’s almost impossible.” Manic replied. He folded his arms. “We were told these are some of the most powerful weapons on Mobius. Then again, we were told we had to be in perfect harmony or close to it for them to work and that hasn't always been the case.”

Sonic looked at Manic. “I thought you got over that ‘what’s the point’ attitude.”

“I had until today.” Manic replied.

“You can't say I'm wrong about the medallions picking and choosing when they work or how we can activate them. I think the Oracle can control that just to teach us a lesson when he thinks he needs to.”

“I hate to say it, but you have a point.” Sonic muttered.

“Alright, guys, we're done.” Cyrus said.

Manic walked over to them.

Cyrus turned the monitor so Sonic, Manic, and Sally could see it. “Okay, from what we can tell, it's some kind of glitch.”

“No.” Manic said sarcastically.

Sonic elbowed Manic in his ribs.

“Sorry, Cyrus.” Manic mumbled.

“Ignore Manic; he's in a bad mood.” Sally said to Cyrus. “You were saying?”

“Normally, it should stop once someone is out of the roboticizer.” Cyrus replied. “For some reason, it's acting like an infection and slowly spreading even though it shouldn't.”

“Wait.” Manic said, holding up his hands. “Infection? Could we get it?”

Cyrus shook his head. “No, it doesn't seem to work like that.”

“That's a relief.” Sonia said.

“The reason why Bunnie and I are here is that we’re pretty close to a cure.” Sally said. “We just needed to look at Cyrus’ notes. We may even have an army to storm Robotnik's fortress too, but there's still some planning and recon to do.”

“So what do you need us to do?” Sonic asked.

“Someone will have to guard Sonia.” Cyrus replied. “Either you two can guard her or we'll get someone else so you and Manic can do the recon mission.”

“We'll sit with Sonia.” Sonic said at the exact same time Manic said “recon mission”.

Manic looked at Sonic incredulously. “You want to sit around?”

“No, but they'll lock Sonia up.” Sonic said, helping Sonia off of the table. “Someone may shoot her if she shows a hint of losing her personality.”

Manic folded his arms. “So you think I wouldn't lock her up?”

“Hey, you wouldn't want me to lock you up if the situation was reversed, would you?” Sonia asked.

“No, but I also wouldn't want anyone to risk their lives if I'm a ticking time bomb either.” Manic replied.

Sonia turned away from Manic and hung her head. “I can't even cry now.”

“I'm sorry, sis, but I'm putting everyone else's safety over your comfort.” Manic said, putting his arm around Sonia's shoulder. “It's just until they find a cure. If there even is a cure.”

“We're very close to a cure, Sugar-hog.” Bunnie said, patting Manic on the back. “She may not have a chance to turn against us before we can cure her.”

“We have to be able to cure her.” Sonic said. “The Oracle said we would defeat Robotnik.”

Manic snorted and opened his mouth to say something.

“Uh, guys, we have a lot to do.” Sally said, holding her hand up in front of Manic to keep him from arguing. “Do you want to keep Sonia with you or go on the mission?”

“We’ll guard Sonia.” Sonic said.

Manic clenched his fists and stalked off to the van.

“Alright, Bunnie will help you after we finish collecting data from her cyborganics.” Sally replied. “Come on, Tails. You're pretty smart; you can help us too.”

Tails looked at Sonic. “But I'd like to hang out with Sonic.”

Sonic knelt down in front of Tails. “We'll hang out once we get this over with.” He said. “Right now, we both have important jobs to do.”

Tails nodded. “Alright, I'll help, Sally.”

Manic laid on his bunk and stared at the van’s roof. He tried to listen to music on his phone, but he ultimately shut his phone off.

He wasn't in the mood for music today. He'd give up this pointless fight if it wasn't for the fact he was furious over Farrell being roboticized and what just happened to his sister. He was a little ticked about what happened to Art, though it was just a robot.

Also, he had a better life in the resistance than on the streets. Out of all the messed up things he had seen during his life, the worst stuff happened when he was living in a sewer. He never dared to tell his siblings some of those stories, though Sonic probably knew some stories about life on the street too since he came from lower to lower middle class foster families.

“It wouldn't do any good to say anything now. The family probably will fall apart if Sonia’s not cured anyway.” Manic thought. “It was nice while it lasted.”

Sonia and Sonic met Manic in the van.

“I'm going to try to take a shower.” Sonia said, walking off.

Manic barely glanced at Sonic. “Personally, I think the Oracle is full of-”

“Shut up, Manic.” Sonic snapped. “We have enough to worry about without you starting this again.”

“Starting what?” Manic asked. “Pointing out that this has been nothing but a meaningless snipe hunt?”

“Yeah.” Sonic replied. “I'm not giving up on Sonia as quickly as you are. You never liked her, huh? I know you kinda resent her because she's from a wealthy foster family, but she can't help where Mom sent her any more than you could help being raised by thieves.”

“Just because I think she's a spoiled brat, doesn't mean I hate her.” Manic said. “She's my sister and I love her. I'm just not stupid enough to let that blind me when or if she goes Terminator on us.”

Sonic rolled his eyes.

“Don't say I didn't warn you.” Manic said, turning onto his side. He pulled the blankets over his head.

Sonic started making chili dogs for dinner, though he wasn't sure if Sonia could eat them right now. He hated to admit it, and he wouldn't, but he was starting to think Manic may be right.

They had been fighting for a year and a half and nothing had changed. He had been serving in the resistance since he was about five, twelve to thirteen years before he reunited with his siblings.

Still, he couldn't make himself even consider giving up. He couldn't let Robotnik's cruelty stand without putting up an epic fight.

However that determination was starting to dwindle but, if he admitted that, everyone would lose hope.

Sonia didn't want to risk messing up the machine parts by taking a shower, but she needed somewhere private to process her new situation. She sat in the shower, pulling her knees to her chest, and made a futile attempt to cry.

“I know we didn't always see eye to eye, but how could he give up on me?” Sonia thought.

She understood his concerns and she was equally concerned about everyone else's (especially her brothers’) safety herself. It still hurt her nonetheless.

Sonia moaned as another wave of vertigo hit her. She passed out for a few seconds. When she woke up, she only felt the overwhelming urge to capture the rest of the royal family.

A small part of her, the part that was still the old Sonia, was begging her to fight the programming. But that part was getting quieter and quieter.
