Sonic and Manic slowly backed away with their hands up.

Sonic accidentally dropped his medallion, which skidded under the beds.

"Crud." Manic muttered.

"Sonia?" Sonic asked. "It's us, Sis. You wouldn't hurt us."

"Must take hedgehogs to Robotnik." Sonia said, her voice wavering between a robotic voice and her natural voice.

Manic activated his medallion.

Sonic glanced at Manic. "You don't have enough firepower to reboot her."

"I know that." Manic said, getting his drumsticks out of his fanny pack.

Sonic grabbed Sonia by her shoulders and shook her. "Sonia! Fight it, sis." He said, voice breaking.

"S- Sonic?" Sonia asked. She hugged Sonic.

Sonic sighed in relief.

"I'm sorry." Sonia whimpered. "I knew what I was doing, but I couldn't stop it."

Manic turned his drum kit back into a medallion.

Sonia looked at Manic. "What-"

"Go check in with Bunnie." Sonic said, motioning to the door. "I'm sorry, sis, but we have to keep everyone safe."

"I understand." Sonia said over her shoulder as she shuffled out.

Sonic ran over and closed the door behind Sonia, then ran back over to Manic. "You were really gonna do it, weren't you?" He questioned. "You actually would've shot her?" "I panicked."

Manic said, shrugging weakly. He started to walk away.

Sonic caught Manic's arm. "She's our sister; she's not one of them."

"She is now." Manic said bitterly. He roughly brushed at a tear rolling down his cheek. "We don't have a cure and she's nearly a full on cyborg. I told you that Oracle was full of crap, didn't I?"

Sonic gave Manic a disgusted look.

"Didn't I?!" Manic screamed. "This has all been for nothing! We're no closer to finding Ma than we were when this started."

"What do you want then?!" Sonic screamed. "Do you want us to throw ourselves in front of a Swatbot's line of fire?"

Manic flopped down on his bed.

Sonic exhaled slowly. "Do what you want, Manic." He said. "If I die, I'm going down fighting."

Sonic knelt down to look for his medallion.

Manic punched his mattress. "I just want a normal life for once."

Sonic raised up. "All of us do."

The brothers jumped when someone started beating on the door.

"Sonic, Manic, big news." Cyrus called.

Manic looked at Sonic. "Do you think it's a cure?"

"Maybe." Sonic said, grinning.

Manic followed Cyrus back into the resistance base.

Sonic grabbed his medallion and hurried after his brother and Cyrus.

"I have good news and bad news." Sally said. "Mostly good news."

Manic climbed on the table and sat down. "Start with the bad."

"The bad news is that Nicole isn't working right." Sally said.

Manic furrowed his brow. "Nicole?"

"Her tablet's operating system." Sonic replied.

"Anyway, she came up with a way to reverse the robotization effects, but we can't build our own de-roboticizer until she's fixed." Sally said. "Tails is working on her as we speak."

Manic scoffed. "So Sonia can kill us before the kid gets it working again?"

"Tails is very intelligent, Manic." Sally said, narrowing her eyes. "Two, you haven't heard the good news. Three, your attitude is getting under my skin."

Sonic leaned on the table. "Well, what is the good news?"

"The good news is that we have our army and a way to storm the fortress." Sally said. "Robotnik has-"

Sally, Sonic, and Manic jumped as a loud metallic crash echoed through the lab.

Cyrus ran in. "Bunnie needs your help."

Sally grabbed her laser rifle and took Sonic's hand.

Manic hopped off of the table and took Sonic's other hand.

Sonic, holding on to Manic and Sally, raced off to the cell they were keeping Sonia in.

Sonic, Manic, and Sally arrived in the holding room.

Bunnie had Sonia halfway pinned to the wall.

Sonia's right side, from her shoulder down, was metallic now.

Sally got her rifle ready. "Okay, when-"

"You got two more?" Sonic asked. "Our medallions aren't working."

Manic activated his medallion. "It does too. I activated it in the van, remember?"

Sonic activated his medallion. "All this time, it could've- nevermind."

"Firing a few extra shots should keep her personality intact for a little longer." Sally said, aiming her rifle at Sonia. "Bunnie, step back when I say 'now'."

Bunnie gritted her teeth as Sonia wrenched her normal arm nearly out of its socket. "Hurry up!"

"Now!" Sally cried.

Bunnie leaped back.

Sonic, Sally, and Manic fired their weapons at Sonia.

Sonia groaned. "Please find the cure already. I'm barely in control of myself when I'm kinda normal."

"We have it, Sonia." Sally reassured her. "We-"

"You told us we wouldn't have it until Nicole was fixed." Manic snapped. "Who names a computer anyway?"

Sally sighed exasperatedly. "I didn't get a chance to finish telling you the good news."

Sonic walked over to Sonia. "Sorry, sis." Sonic said, hugging her. "You have to stay here in case your cyborganics are reporting to Ro-butt-nik."

Sonia nodded. "Go on; I'll fight it as best as I can."
**
"It turns out that Robotnik has designed the roboticizer to revert someone back to normal, in case of an accident." Sally said, pulling up a diagram on a computer monitor. "So all we have to do is get into the fortress and put Sonia into it."

Manic folded his arms and laid them on the control panel. "You talk about it like it's a walk in the park."

"We're storming it tonight." Sally replied.

"How are we gonna do that with Sonia?" Manic asked.

"Firing a few extra shots should keep her personality intact for a little longer." Sally replied. "Those cyborganics are surprisingly sturdy. It would take a whole lot more firepower than what we have to bring her down."

"Or just Manic's drum kit." Sonic said. "He vaporized one of Robotnik's tanks a few months ago."

Manic shook his head. "That's because I hit its fuel tank."

Sally pulled up another file. "Here's the battle plan and schematics for the fortress," She said. "Do you think you can be the distraction, Sonic?"

Sonic laughed. "I can be the distraction and get Manic near a swatbot and inside to back me up."

"How are you gonna do that?" Sally asked.

"You'll see." Sonic replied. "How are you going to get inside the fortress without the security codes?"

"We have a friend from another dimension." Sally said. She opened a side door.

Alternate Robotnik strutted into the room.

"I never thought I would say this, but good to see you, Robotnik." Sonic said, shaking Alternate Robotnik's hand.

"What brings you here?" Manic asked.

"Since you two and your sister helped liberate my version of Mobius, I thought I would return the favor." Alternate Robotnik replied. He sat on a nearby chair. "I won't bore you with the technical details, but I built a machine to send someone to another dimension, funded by your alternate selves. Now, after you left, I came up with an idea. Since you three could walk right into the palace simply because you look exactly like your alternate selves, I can do the same for you."

"Exactly?!" Sonic shrieked. "Your dimension's version of me was way out of shape."

"He's lost weight since you've been gone." Alternate Robotnik said. "Anyway, I can lead the resistance right into the evil Robotnik's fortress."

"You'll need a bald cap, big guy." Manic said, getting up.

Alternate Robotnik pulled a bald cap out of his pocket and put it on his head. "We were way ahead of you."

"Alright." Sally said. "Let's get Sonia in here to give her another dose."

Sonic raced out of the room to get Bunnie and Sonia.

Manic activated his medallion as Sally got her laser rifle ready.

"What's taking him so long?" Sally asked.

Manic's eyes widened. "Uh… Sonia's probably a lot heavier now." He said. "That… that has to be it."

Sonic, carrying Bunnie and Sonia, ran back in a much slower pace than usual. He set the girls down.

Manic exhaled slowly. "That's a relief."

Sally aimed her rifle. "Okay, Sonia, we're giving you an extra dose to make the effects last longer. We're going to try to cure you tonight."

Sonia grinned, revealing that half of her teeth were now metal. "What are we waiting for? Let's do it."

Sonic activated his medallion.

Sonia squeezed her hedgehog eye shut and dimmed the light in her cyborg eye. "Get it over with."

"Ready, boys?" Sally asked.

"Ready." Manic and Sonic replied.

"Now!" Sally yelled.

Sonic, Sonia, and Manic fired their weapons at a weak point in Sonia's robotic armor a few times.

"Now what?" Sonia asked. She did a double take. "Robotnik?"

"He's the other dimension one, Sonia." Bunnie said.

Alternate Robotnik got up. "I'll meet you in the fortress." He said, walking out of the room.

"Sonia, you go with Bunnie and Sal, Manic and I will go ahead." Sonic said, grabbing Manic's arm. "I'll explain on the way, bro."
