Manic had finally worn himself out as they were dragging him into a room where Robotnik was standing and some machine he assumed was a roboticizer.

The machine looked like an operating table hooked to a large computer.

Manic gave a defiant glare and kept his spines up as they entered the room.

"Ah, Manic." Robotnik said. "So nice to see you volunteer to test out my new roboticizer."

Dingo tossed Manic onto the machine.

"You won't get away with this, Buttnik!" Manic yelled.

Shackles came out of the machine and wrapped around Manic's arms, legs, and waist before he could climb off of it.

"Huh. Well, you won't get away with this for long." Manic said.

Sleet switched on the machine.

The loud, metallic groaning was almost deafening.

Manic screamed louder than he ever thought he possibly could. If he had to describe the pain, it was like being hit by a truck and touching an electric fence at the same.

The roboticizer finally shut off after what felt like an hour, which was actually around twenty minutes. Manic passed out as Sonic and Sonia burst into the room.

Sonic spin dashed a couple of the swatbots.

"Stop them." Robotnik ordered. He quickly left the room.

Sonic spin dashed a couple more swatbots before activating his medallion. Then, he did a sonic spin around Sleet and Dingo and sent them flying across the room.

Sonia fired several lasers from her keyboard/gun at the computer.

The shackles unfastened; Manic slid to the floor and crumpled in a heap.

Sonia ran over to Manic... or at least a hedgehog who looked similar to him.

"Wait." Sonia said. "This can't be-"

Sonic glanced at them. "Grab him and go, sis. Now!"

Sonia grabbed the hedgehog, though she was sure this wasn't Manic in spite of a few similarities, and ran.

She couldn't just leave an innocent victim and, of course, Sonic wasn't slowing down to listen to her.

Sonia laid Manic on his bunk as soon as she got him into the van. She quickly buttoned up Manic's trenchcoat before Sonic turned around.

Sonic did a double take. "How and why did they do this?" He asked. "What's the point?"

Manic was starting to wake up. He could hear his siblings talking, but couldn't make himself open his eyes.

"Are you sure this is Manic?" Sonia questioned.

"That's his backpack, trenchcoat, and T-shirt." Sonic said. "What're the odds that someone else has the same button pins in the exact same places on their backpack or has the same worn out trenchcoat?"

"How did they do this in about two hours, give or take?" Sonia asked.

"Who knows what all Ro-butt-nik has in his stupid labs." Sonic said. "It'll take hours to hack into their files and neither of us are gonna risk going back there right now."

Now, Manic was really afraid to open his eyes. What were they talking about? Had whatever they did to him mutated him?

Well, he'd have to open his eyes eventually. Keeping his eyes shut wouldn't change things.

"He's waking up." Sonia said, glancing at Manic. "Manic? Are you okay?"

Manic groaned as he slowly sat up. "I… guess so, but whatever they did to me was extremely painful to start with."

"Bummer majores." Sonic muttered, tossing his hands up.

"Sonic, calm down." Sonia said.

"What's his problem?" Manic asked.

"Do you even know what that machine they had you hooked up to was for?" Sonia asked. "Did they say anything to or around you?"

Manic shrugged. "Some new roboticizer, but I heard someone say it was a failure when I was passing out."

"Oh, I think it worked, alright." Sonia said. "Just not the way they intended, I guess."

"Could you all stop being so secretive and tell me what's going on?!" Manic snapped.

"I think it affected your mood too." Sonic muttered.

"Hey, cut him some slack, Sonic Hedgehog." Sonia replied. She turned to face Manic. "Okay. Uh… I think it'll be better to show you. Don't freak out."

Manic darted to the bathroom and slammed the door shut.

Sonic and Sonia stood outside the door. The two flinched as Manic screamed.

Sonic eased the door open and slipped into the room.

"N- no." Manic stammered. "That- that's not me. You're messing with me, right? This is some stupid prank to get back at me for annoying Sonia, right? Right?"

"No." Sonic said, shaking his head. "We'd never go this far to make a joke. I don't know how they did it, but that's you. I hate to tell you this, but I'm not sure if it can be reversed."

"So you're saying I could be stuck as a girl forever?!" Manic shrieked.

"Please stop shouting." Sonic said, rubbing his temples. "You've got a really shrill voice now."

"You sound more like a girl than I do." Sonia said through the bathroom door.

Manic groaned. "I'm sorry." He said, sitting down on the toilet seat lid. "So what do I do?"

"Well…." Sonic said, rubbing the back of his head. "You can always get a job as a hot topic model."

Manic rolled his eyes. He got up and walked out of the bathroom.

Sonic followed him out

"On the bright side, you're a really pretty girl." Sonia said, grinning nervously.

"You're not helping, Sis." Sonic replied.

"Thanks for making this even weirder." Manic muttered under his breath.

"We're getting ahead of ourselves." Sonia said. "There may be a way to reverse it. Until then, you need clothes."

"You're gonna use this as an excuse for a shopping trip, huh?" Manic asked.

Sonia grabbed Manic's hand. "Come on. Maybe I have something you can wear. You can't go out wearing nothing but a T-shirt and trenchcoat."

Manic tried to dig his heels in, but it was no use since Sonia was ridiculously stronger than him.

Sonia easily dragged him to her box of clothes.

"Here's that old dress you bought me." Sonia said, handing him a black T-shirt dress that laced up like a corset in the front. "Let me find you some leggings."

Manic glanced down at himself and grimaced at his new anatomy. "Do I have to wear a bra now?"

Sonia cringed. "Ugh. I hope this is a dream." She said. "Let me see if I can find one I've never worn."

Manic flopped down on his bed while he waited on Sonia to dig around for the rest of his new outfit.

"So I guess you didn't like it." Manic said, pulling the tags off the dress. "You didn't even take the tags off."

Sonia pulled out some more clothes. "It still had the tags on it?" She asked. "Did you steal it?"

"No way." Manic replied. "It's easier to steal the button pins than clothes."

Sonic and Sonia stared blankly at Manic.

"Did you steal those?" Sonic asked.

"Uh... Maybe once." Manic replied.

"Manic." Sonic said exasperatedly.

"I bought the rest of them." Manic replied. "It's a hard habit to break."

Sonia handed the clothes to Manic. "Hurry up and change so we can go."

Manic quickly changed clothes all while hoping this was a dream. To add insult to injury, he now had to spend hours in some stupid mall.

Manic finally stepped out of the bathroom.

Sonic smirked and whistled at him.

"Do that again, bro, and you'll have to eat chili dogs through a straw." Manic said.

"Anyway. You look good." Sonia said, grinning weakly. "Let's go."

"I'm not going out like this." Manic protested. "What if someone recognizes me?"

"I don't think they'll recognize you." Sonic replied. "Well, if they focus on your spines or your backpack, then maybe."

"I didn't even recognize you, so we're good." Sonia insisted. She climbed into the driver's seat.

"Now let's go so we can beat the crowds."

Sonic and Manic collectively groaned and headed to their seats.
