Tails finished putting the cast on Sonic's leg. "That should do it." He said. He handed Sonic a pair of crutches that he made. "Now, try these."
Sonic tried to stand with the crutches. "Hey, this isn't so bad." He said. He tried to take a step, then fell over.
"You see?" Knuckles asked. "This is why you never skip arm day."
Sonic rolled his eyes. "Just help me up."
Knuckles helped Sonic up.
Sonic tried to take another step, but fell again.
"Help him onto the couch." Tails said. "I'll make him a wheelchair instead."
Knuckles picked up Sonic and sat him on the couch.
Tails walked into the room, pushing an empty wheelchair.
Sonic woke up and turned the TV off. He nudged Knuckles, who had fallen asleep too.
"Cool chair." Knuckles said. "Can I try it?"
"It's for Sonic." Tails replied. "It took me half the night, but it's finally done."
"Thanks, bro." Sonic said.
Knuckles and Tails helped Sonic into the chair.
Sonic rolled himself forward a few inches. "It's better than the crutches."
"You can stay with me until your leg heals." Tails replied. "You could use the extra assistance until then."
"I'll house-sit for you." Knuckles said. He clasped his hands together. "Please let me house-sit for you. My tent blew away last night."
"Fine, you can house-sit." Sonic replied. "Just don't mess with my coconut husk collection."
"As long as I can watch you TV, I'm fine." Knuckles said.

Sonic rolled himself back and forth in a little path he wore into the floor of the workshop. "I'm bored. How much longer until my leg heals?"
"Again. Three months." Tails said, shutting his sink off. "You just asked me that five seconds ago."
"I'm sorry." Sonic replied. "I can't stand being cooped up all the time. I bet that's what made Sticks crazy."
"She actually went crazy from isolation and, to be fair, she's often right about some things." Tails said, wiping his hands on a towel. "I was surprised when her breakfast actually tried to kill her."
Sonic tilted his wheelchair back to do a wheelie. "Oh, yeah, but it was the cereal box." He said. "Who knew Egghead would invest in a cereal company?"
Tails gathered some books. "Why don't you try-"
"Can you replace my leg with a bionic one so I can get back to running?" Sonic asked.
"I could." Tails replied. "But that would mean about six months to a year of physical therapy. It might take another year to get back to running."
Sonic groaned. "So what can I do?"
"Read or take up a hobby." Tails said. "We can play board games or video games. Watch a movie. Oh, and you'll definitely need to cut back on chili dogs. Hedgehogs are prone to obesity and you're not exercising."
Sonic lost control of the wheelie and fell. "Ow!"
Tails helped him up. "Just try reading while I'm out." He said. "I have to pick up some things from the store."
Amy walked in. "Is he doing wheelies again?"
Tails let Sonic go and met Amy at the door. "Hey, Amy, can you keep Sonic company while I'm out?"
"Has he gone crazy yet?" Amy whispered.
"He's driving me crazy." Tails whispered back.
Tails left the workshop.
Amy followed Sonic over to the couch and sat down next to Sonic.
Sonic pulled his wheelchair beside the arm of the couch. He picked up a chopstick and tried to slide it down his cast.
"What are you doing?" Amy asked.
"This cast is making my leg itch." Sonic replied. "My hand won't fit in it."
Amy reached for the chopstick. "Let me see that."
Sonic handed it to her. "Maybe you can reach it better than I can."
Amy sat the chopstick on the coffee table. She got one of the throw pillows and slid it under Sonic's leg.
"What are you doing?" Sonic asked.
"Scratching your leg is only a temporary fix." Amy replied. "Elevating your leg should stop the itching."
Sonic tried to reach the chopstick.
"Give it a chance." Amy said. "Look, Tails gave you some books. Why don't you read one?"
"I read all of those books yesterday." Sonic replied. "I want to go out for a run."
"Then get some new books or try a hobby." Amy said, flipping through one of the books. "If you keep yourself busy, time will fly by."
"Has Egghead done anything while I've been cooped up?" Sonic asked.
Amy set the book down. "I haven't seen him in a few days, now that you mention it."
"He's planning something." Sonic said, turning to look out the window. "I can feel it."
"Maybe." Amy replied. "If so, we can handle it."
Tails came in with a bag of groceries. "Well, I got our dinner, but I think I lost my appetite."
"What did Eggman do?" Sonic asked.
"He was buying groceries in his footie pajamas." Tails replied. He set the bags on the counter. "Nacho cheese stained pajamas. He's realized he didn't exactly win and he's lost motivation to do anything since it would be a 'hollow victory' because he can't defeat you personally and rub it in your face while you're recovering. He also called you the blue pufferfish."
"That's a new one." Sonic said.
Amy giggled.
"Amy." Sonic scolded.
"I'm sorry, but I can see it." Amy said, her voice shaking from laughter. "You do kinda look like a pufferfish when you curl into a ball."
Tails tried to cover his mouth to stifle his laughter, but it didn't help.
"Anyway." Sonic said. "What did you get for dinner, Tails?"
"Boneless, skinless chicken strips." Tails replied. "Some iceberg lettuce. Tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots."
Sonic raised an eyebrow. "A grilled chicken salad?" He asked. "Did you at least get cheese or some kind of dressing?"
"I got olive oil." Tails said, pulling the groceries out of the bag. "I'm sorry, I couldn't find fat free cheese."
"You could've gotten plant based cheese." Amy replied. "It has no fat and it's healthier."
"Actually, I checked the ingredients and they have to add stuff for flavor." Tails said, getting a salad bowl out of a cabinet. "Store bought plant based products often contain a load of oils, sugars, or salt to make it taste better. You'd have to make it yourself if you want healthy plant based meals."
Amy furrowed her brow. "Who has the time for that?"
Tails shrugged.
Sonic reached for the chopstick. "I don't bother with plant based anything."
Tails eased away from Amy.
Amy folded her arms and glared at Sonic. "Did my sensitivity seminar teach you nothing?"
"Hey, I didn't say no one should eat that stuff." Sonic said.
"Can one of you call Knuckles and Sticks over?" Tails asked. "We can have a nice movie or game night."
Sonic got his phone out of the pouch Tails made onto the wheelchair. "I will."
"Oh, can I bring some yogurt and strawberry parfaits for dessert?" Amy asked.
"Sounds good." Tails replied.

Knuckles and Sticks arrived right after Amy came over with the desserts.
Knuckles slumped his shoulders. "Ah, I thought there would be pizza."
"I said I wish there would be pizza." Sonic replied.
"We're having grilled chicken salad and strawberry yogurt parfait for dessert." Tails said, setting the salad bowl on the table. "Sonic needs to eat healthier while-"
"Sonic never eats healthy!" Sticks yelled. She leaped behind the counter and got her boomerang ready. "He's an imposter!"
"No, he's not." Tails replied.
"I don't want to eat healthier." Sonic said. "Tails is forcing me to."
Tails sighed. "It's only for a few months."
Sonic tried to stand with the crutches. "Hey, this isn't so bad." He said. He tried to take a step, then fell over.
