Amy, all dressed up in a new, shiny red dress and heels, walked into the workshop.
"Oh, thank you for taking Sonic out, Amy." Tails said, showing her inside. "I really need to get some work done and he needs to get out."
Sonic rolled over to them. "Amy? Why are you dressed up? I- is this a date?"
Amy shook her head. "I just got a new outfit and I wanted to wear it."
"I think it would do you some good to go out and eat." Tails said, pushing Sonic closer to Amy. "Consider it a cheat day for your diet. Also, I really need to work on the Tornado."
"Alright, I'll go because I'm bored." Sonic replied. He started to push the chair along with his hands, but stopped. He hissed in pain as he rubbed his sore shoulders. "Remind me to start working out with Knuckles when my leg heals."
"Let me help you." Amy said, walking around to the back of the wheelchair. She stroked Sonic's head spines. "You deserve some special treatment."
"Thanks, Ames." Sonic replied. "See you, Tails."
"Have fun." Tails said, waving to Sonic and Amy as they left the workshop. "Finally, I can work in peace."
Amy pushed Sonic to a new Italian restaurant on the other side of the village.
"Ooh, this is fancy." Sonic said, looking around. "I don't think they serve chili dogs though."
Amy pushed him to a table, then sat down across from him.
Sonic glanced at the candle holder centerpiece. "A candlelit dinner?" He asked. "So this is a date."
"It's just a nice dinner at a fancy restaurant." Amy replied. "It doesn't have to be a date."
Sonic narrowed his eyes. "Would you take Tails, Knuckles, or Sticks here?" He asked. He held his hand up. "No, don't answer that."
Amy cringed. "No to any of them."
"I thought so." Sonic said. "I'm out."
"I'd like to see you try to leave when you couldn't roll yourself here." Amy replied.
Sonic's arms started stinging as soon as he tried to roll away. He glanced at the floor to see his progress and saw he hadn't even moved half an inch.
Amy smirked at him.
"Fine." Sonic said. "You win."
Amy giggled.
Sonic looked through the menu. "I guess I'll have grilled chicken. I don't want to waste my cheat day on this."
Amy nodded. "Yeah, Knuckles will probably want a pizza night."
Sonic glanced out the window. "Well, I just lost my appetite."
Amy sighed. "Sonic, friends can have a nice dinner together."
"It's not that. I just saw Eggman walk by." Sonic replied. "He just walked by wearing boxers and an undershirt."
Amy grimaced. "I'll order it to-go."

The next day, Sonic idly watched Tails work on the Tornado.
"So how was your date?" Tails asked.
"It was not a date." Sonic insisted. He folded his arms. "It was more like a hostage situation."
Tails rolled himself back under the plane. "I don't know why you won't admit you like her."
"What did you say?" Sonic asked.
Tails froze for a moment. "Uh… I was… talking to myself. Techno-babble."
"Oh." Sonic replied.
Tails breathed a sigh of relief.
"So how much longer do I have to be stuck in this cast?" Sonic asked.
Tails slid out from under the plane. "Two more months."
"Two more months?" Sonic asked. "I don't think I can last that much longer. It's bad enough I can't run, now I gotta worry about Eggman running out of laundry. He'll probably go out with nothing but a towel next."
Tails got up. "If that."
Sonic groaned. "Thank you, Tails!" He yelled. "I really didn't need that mental image in my head."
"I am so sorry." Tails said, backing away slowly with his hands up defensively. "I'll buy you a chili dog, how's that?"
"Make it ten." Sonic replied.
"I'll buy you ten when your leg's healed, I promise." Tails said, spinning his tails around. He flew out of the workshop.
Sticks passed Tails and shuffled over to Sonic with a thousand yard stare.
"The horror." Sticks muttered. "The horror."
Sonic leaned forward. "Did Eggman do something? What is it?"
Sticks sat down on the table across him. "It… it was horrifying." She said, staring off into space. "Amy and I were shopping. I looked up and there was Eggman in his bathrobe. Thank goodness he had a towel on under it because his disgusting, guacamole and nacho cheese stained robe came open."
Sonic dry heaved.
Amy ran in, sobbing. "Sticks? How could you abandon me?!"
"Ames? Are you okay?" Sonic asked.
Amy rushed over and sat down on the bench beside Sonic.
Sonic hugged her as she cried on his shoulder.
"I- I saw Eggman and I turned to tell Sticks to run and she was gone." Amy cried. "Then he saw me and I had to counsel him in the middle of the village! Everyone was pointing and laughing. His bathrobe was filthy and smelled like nachos and sweaty feet. I have never prayed before, but I was praying that the towel he was wearing under the robe would hold."
"Did it?" Sonic and Sticks asked.
Amy sniffled. "Yeah, at least until I got away."
Tails, wide-eyed, came flying in with no chili dogs. "I need to invent something to erase my memory."
"You saw it too?" Sticks asked.
Tails shuddered. "It could've been worse. He had just closed the robe when the towel fell."
Knuckles, wearing a towel, strutted into the workshop with his head held high.
Amy looked up and started crying again.
"I know." Knuckles said, leaned against the wall. "I thought I invented a new trend and Eggman already started it."
"You never wear pants." Sonic snapped. "Take the stupid towel off and stop traumatizing Amy."
Knuckles took the towel off and handed it to Tails.
"Uh… I'll put this in the hamper, I guess." Tails said, walking off to his little laundry room. He held the towel between two fingers and away from his body.
Amy buried her face into Sonic's shoulder, sobbing.
"I'm so sorry, Ames." Sonic said, rubbing her back. "I'll spin dash Egghead into oblivion when my leg heals, okay?"
Amy nodded.
"Aww." Sticks said, motioning to Sonic and Amy. "They're so cute."
Sonic and Amy quickly pulled away. "We're just friends." They insisted.
Sonic glanced at Tails. "Hey, where's my chili dog?"
"Back to the Eggman thing." Tails replied.
"Right." Sonic said. "Knuckles, let's go. Ames, you want anything?"
"A fish sandwich." Amy said, sniffling.
Knuckles pushed Sonic out of the shop.
Sticks folded her arms. "Well, that was rude. He never offered to get me or Tails anything."
"I lost my appetite." Tails replied.
"I could still eat." Sticks said. She rubbed her chin. "I kinda want nachos for some reason."
Tails slapped his hand over his face.
"Oh, thank you for taking Sonic out, Amy." Tails said, showing her inside. "I really need to get some work done and he needs to get out."
Sonic rolled over to them. "Amy? Why are you dressed up? I- is this a date?"
