Sonic and Amy came back in after having an appointment at Tails' workshop so he could test his newly built ultrasound machine.
Amy went over to the fridge and opened it. She started digging around the freezer.
Sonic glanced up from looking at the mail. "What're you looking for?"
"Strawberry ice cream." Amy replied. "I'm seriously craving it."
"I'll get you some." Sonny said. He kissed her. "Be back in a
minute.

Sonic sighed as he noticed how long the only open checkout line was.
Not only was it the only checkout line, it was being run by an elderly male turtle.
Sonic looked at the carton of ice cream in his hands and then at Shadow, who was ahead of him, and his full shopping basket.
"Excuse me, Shadow, can I cut in front of you?" Sonic asked.
Shadow gave him a look. "You're right where you deserve to be."
"I'll pay for your stuff." Sonic said. "I just need to get this to Amy while she's in a good mood. Right now, I'm a little more afraid of her than you."
"Hmph." Shadow huffed. "I-"
Sonic's communicator came on.
"Sonic?" Amy cried. "Where's my ice cream?"
"I'm in line as we speak." Sonic said. "I'll be there as soon as I can."
Shadow gave him a blank stare.
Sonic shut his communicator off. "Look, I don't feel like explaining even if I believed you'd care, but I'm offering to pay for all of your groceries."
Shadow shrugged. "Go ahead."
"Thanks, I owe you one." Sonic said, easing in front of Shadow.
Dr. Eggman walked up. "Oh, I'm glad you got your Christmas present, Shadow." He said, motioning to Shadow's trench coat. "Fits you well. Oh, and Sonic, why did you send your cyborg duplicates to my high tea for 'talk with a British accent' day?"
Sonic set the ice cream on the counter and motioned for Shadow to put his basket on the counter. "Ugh. Now I have to pay them extra."
Shadow set his basket on the counter.
The elderly turtle cashier slowly started to ring the items up.
Dr. Eggman leaned against the counter. "Let me tell you what you missed while you wait."

Flashback*
Dr. Eggman, wearing a monocle and a fancy suit, sipped his tea. "I say, old chap, didn't you send out the invitations?"
"What invitations, boss?" Cubot asked.
Dr. Eggman sighed.
Cyborg Sonic and Cyborg Amy crashed through the window while fighting a few bee bots.
"Oh, smashing!" Dr. Eggman exclaimed. "Would you two care for a spot of tea?"
Cyborg Sonic and Cyborg Amy stare dumbfounded at Dr. Eggman.

"They couldn't be bothered to stay for crumpets." Dr. Eggman whined. "Orbot and Mombot slaved over a hot stove… or oven, whichever, to make everything perfect."
"That may be considered culturally insensitive now, but I'm glad I missed it." Sonic replied. He paid for his and Shadow's groceries.
"Why were the cyborgs there anyway?" Dr. Eggman asked.
"Because Amy, who's my wife, won't be able to fight until sometime after our baby's born." Sonic replied. He picked up his bag. "Now I have to get this to Amy and I swear if you try anything to hurt her or my kid, I'm getting Tails to put that symbiote chip back in the mech suit and I'll hunt you down."
Dr. Eggman ran away screaming.
Shadow rolled his eyes.
"You're welcome, Shadow." Sonic said as he raced off.
**
Amy snatched the carton from Sonic and pulled the lid off of the carton as soon as he came home.
"You need to send Shadow a thank you card for letting me cut in front of him." Sonic said. "I had to buy his groceries, but still."
Amy was still eating her ice cream.
"Glad you're enjoying it." Sonic said, trying to keep from laughing at Amy. He walked Amy to the couch.
Amy snuggled beside him as they watched TV.
"So you're excited for next week?" Sonic asked. "Tails said he had the ultrasound machine working. We'll find out what we're having then, right?"
Amy nodded, still shoveling ice cream into her mouth.
"I kinda want ice cream now." Sonic said. "Can I have a taste?"
Amy gave Sonic a look. "Get your own."
Sonic got up and raced out.
"I was joking." Amy said.
Sonic came back in with a small carton of cake batter ice cream.
"I was messing with you." Amy said. "I saved you a spoonful."
"Thanks, Ames." Sonic replied. He sat down beside her.
Amy gave him her ice cream spoon, which had some strawberry ice cream on it.
Sonic tasted the ice cream. "Ugh… it's… okay. I'm glad you like it." He said. He settled in beside Amy.
Amy stared at Sonic's ice cream carton as he opened it.
Sonic glanced at Amy. "I'll split it with you." He said. "He rubbed her stomach, putting his hand near hers.
Both of them could feel the baby's kicks.
"Oh, that's kinda cool and weird at the same time." Sonic said. "I thought we'd know what we were having before we felt the baby's kicks."
"Tails' machine still has some bugs." Amy replied.
Sonic nodded. "Oh, right."
