The siblings stood on the front lawn and watched as their parents were taken away in a squad car.
“Good news.” Officer Cat said. “Your aunt and uncle will be here any minute.”
An old blue car pulled up and Uncle Chuck and Aunt Rachel got out.
Sonic, Sonia, and Manic rushed over and hugged Uncle Chuck.
“I’m sorry, kids.” Uncle Chuck said. “Come on, let’s pack your things and go home.”
Aunt Rachel ruffled Manic’s head spines. “Don’t worry, you all can see your friends and go to the same school.”
“That’s a relief.” Manic said.

The triplets walked into the little blue and gray house a block away from their parents’ home.
“I never knew you two lived a block away.” Manic said, looking around the house.
“Your parents had kept us away for a while.” Uncle Chuck said. “Now we know why.”
“Where’s our room?” Sonic asked. “I mean we don’t mind if we have to sleep in sleeping bags and the couch.”
“Your rooms are this way.” Aunt Rachel said, leading the triplets down the hall. She opened one door on the left, revealing a room with peach walls with cream trim, a bed, and a little table. “Sonia, this one’s yours.”
“Thank you.” Sonia replied. She walked in and set her bags on the bed.
“You’re welcome.” Aunt Rachel said. She opened the door to the room across from Sonia’s. “Boys, you’ll have to share a room.”
Manic and Sonic walked in the dark gray and white trimmed bedroom.
There was a futon, a tv, and two tables (one was a foosball table and the other a little bedside table next to the futon).
“We’ll have to get you a new bed soon.” Aunt Rachel said. “We’ll flip a coin to decide who gets the futon later. I don’t think either of you want to share it.”
“Sonic runs in his sleep.” Manic said.
Sonic motioned to Manic. “He spoons the pillows.”
Manic grimaced.
Aunt Rachel laughed. “Okay, we’ll go shopping tomorrow to buy you some essentials and whatever you’d like to decorate your room.” She said, “You two settle in and have fun. We’ll call you when dinner is ready.”
“Okay, thanks, Aunt Rachel.” Sonic and Manic replied.
Aunt Rachel left the room.
Sonic dropped his backpack on the floor and walked over to the foosball table. “Do you want to play?”
Manic dropped his backpack on the floor. “Eh… won’t they get mad if we make too much noise?”
“They own it, so I don’t see why not.” Sonic said.
Sonic and Manic started playing.
A few minutes later, Uncle Chuck walked in.
Sonic and Manic quit playing. “We’re sorry.”
“Don’t be; you’re welcome to play.” Uncle Chuck said. “I was going to tell you dinner’s ready. I hope you boys like chili dogs.”
Sonic grinned. “I knew I was gonna love it here.”
Manic shrugged. “Sounds good.”

The family gathered at the table.
“Say, we were thinking you probably didn’t have friends over often.” Aunt Rachel said. “So we were thinking they could come over for a party next week.”
The triplets grinned.
“Can we invite all of our friends?” Sonia asked. “Even Shadow?”
“Of course.” Aunt Rachel said.
“Why wouldn’t Shadow be invited?” Uncle Chuck asked.
“Because he’s Sonia’s boyfriend and Dad didn’t like it that Shadow asked questions about our home life.” Manic replied. “He was going to report them, but then his adoptive sister died and he hasn’t been the same since then.”
Uncle Chuck and Aunt Rachel nodded.
“He’s welcome to come.” Uncle Chuck said.
Sonia got up and hugged Uncle Chuck and Aunt Rachel. “Thanks so much.”
