Shadow sat down beside Sonia, who was laying on their bed and holding their two week old daughter Maria.
Sonia gently stroked Maria’s black and pink spines. “Your friend would’ve loved her.”
Shadow nodded.
“Was there any news about the incident?” Sonia asked.
“Commander Towers got life without parole.” Shadow replied. “Farrell only got a year due to his plea deal and Manic got probation. Gerald’s cause of death has been changed.”
“That’s good news.” Sonia said. “So when does the family get here?”
“Aleena, Sonic, and Sally are on their way.” Shadow said. “Manic and his family will be late. He’s running because of traffic.”
“That’s understandable.” Sonia said.

Aleena held little Maria. “Aww, she’s adorable.”
“She looks like Shadow.” Sonic said. He looked at Shadow. “Not that it’s a bad thing.”
Surge leaned against the arm of the loveseat. “I don’t mind, but why did you name her after that girl?”
“She and Gerald saved me.” Shadow said. “You see….”
