Manic held Surge as she snuggled against him. He stroked her spines.

Suddenly, they jolted awake as someone bounced across the bed.

Manic sat up. “What are you doing?”

Their four year old twins, Glitch and Cyber, bounced on the bed.

“Waking you up.” Cyber said.

“Why?” Surge groaned.

The kids stopped bouncing.

“Uh… we’re hungry.” Glitch said, grinning nervously.

“Alright, I’ll make breakfast and coffee.” Manic replied. He leaned over and kissed Surge. “You can rest, I got this.”

“Thanks, cute stuff.” Surge said.

Manic got up, then helped the twins off of the bed. “Okay, if you’re so wide awake, then you’re gonna learn to make breakfast.”

Glitch and Cyber groaned.

Manic led the kids to the door. “C’mon.” He said. “You gotta learn to take care of yourselves or help out.”

The twins followed Manic to the kitchen.

“Why?” Cyber asked.

“Because we won’t always be around to do everything for you.” Manic said, starting the coffee maker. “My ma doesn’t come over to make my meals or clean my house.”

“That makes sense.” Cyber replied.

Manic got two coffee cups out of the cabinet. “Oh, and what did I tell you to do if you get up before us on the weekend?”

“Get a piece of fruit to eat and some juice.” Glitch said. “Then sit quietly and either watch a show we’re allowed to watch, read a book, or draw.”

“Right.” Manic replied.

“We’re sorry.” Glitch and Cyber said.

“It’s cool.” Manic replied. “Try not to do it again.”

Surge walked in. “Is the coffee ready?”

“Not yet.” Manic said, getting his and Surge’s mugs out of the cabinet. “What do you want for breakfast, babe?”

Surge yawned. “Waffles.”

“But I want pancakes.” Glitch said.

“Hey, you woke us up, we pick.” Manic replied. “We want waffles.”

“That’s fair.” Glitch said, getting a stool to stand on so he could reach the counter.

Surge got the waffle maker out of the cabinet. “Who’s idea was it to wake us up?”

Cyber and Glitch pointed at each other.

“So both of you.” Manic said, pouring the coffee into the cups.

Surge took her cup and added creamer.

Manic leaned closer and kissed Surge. “Go rest, Babe; we got this.”

Surge ruffled Manic’s spines. “You spoil me.”

Manic laughed.

Surge sat on the couch, curled up in a blanket and watching tv as she waited on Manic to get back from dropping the twins off at Aleena’s house.

Surge’s phone rang.

Surge picked up her phone. “Why is he calling?” She asked. She answered the phone. “Hey, cute stuff, what’s up?”

“I was thinking we could go out and get sushi.” Manic said. “We eat at home all the time, I thought it would be fun to go out.”

Surge bit her lip. “Go out?” She asked. “Ugh, I’d have to change clothes, put on a stupid bra. I’d rather not.”

“What’s the matter?” Manic asked. “Your social battery is drained?”

Surge nodded. “Yeah.”

Manic sighed. “If you really want to stay in, it’s cool, but would it help if I got us a table out on the patio of the sushi place?” He asked. “There’s rarely anyone eating out there.”

Surge turned the tv off. “I-”

“Or we can get something to eat at the taco truck, then eat at the park?” Manic asked.

“No, I was gonna say the sushi place sounds good.” Surge replied.

“Awesome.” Manic said. “I’ll pick you up in a few minutes. I love you.”

“Thanks.” Surge replied. “Love you too.”

Manic and Surge snuggled on the couch, watching a movie.

Manic sighed. “Oh, come on, how many times is John gonna roll down the stairs?”

“How is he still alive after falling off of that thing?” Surge muttered.

“Eh, this isn’t the best John Wick movie I’ve ever seen.” Manic replied. “I-”

Manic noticed Surge was asleep. He kissed her forehead. “I love you, Babe.”
