It had been five years since Eggman took over and Shadow and Sonia formed the resistance.

Shadow led their friends in battles, where they thankfully didn’t lose more members, while Sonia helped keep everyone’s morale up as well as fighting alongside Shadow (who she was now married to for the past year).

While she was a strong fighter in her own right, something the boys praised her for, she still wasn’t as strong as Shadow and Knuckles. She certainly wasn’t as fast as Shadow even with air shoes that Tails and uncle Chuck had made everyone.

Sonia did her best to uphold her duties all while grieving the loss of most of her family.

Tails walked into Shadow and Sonia’s base. “Sonia?”

Sonia took her headset off and rubbed her temples. “Any word on my brothers? Is Shadow safe?”

“Shadow is safe.” Tails replied. “No word on Sonic and Manic.”

Sonia sighed. “So what’s up?”

“Two fighters died.” Tails replied. “Not sure who they were; they’re not in our division.”

Sonia leaned back in her seat. “Not again.”

“I know.” Tails replied.

Sonia got up. “I’m going for a walk.” She said, putting her coat on. “Tell Shadow he can join me. Tell him I’ll be on our trail. He knows what I mean.”

“Of course.” Tails replied.

Sonia wandered through the ruins of Green Hills park. She sniffled and wiped tears out of her eyes.

The emerald green grass was now dead. The sunflowers were withered and the loops were crumbling. The air was polluted.

It was nothing like it was when she’d skate through the trails with Shadow or ride her mountain bike alongside Sonic and Manic.

“I miss you, boys.” Sonia whispered.

A figure wearing a purple hood stood in the middle of the path.

Sonia stopped and eased her hand toward the gun in her belt holster.

“I’m not a threat, Sonia.” The figure said. “I support the resistance as you do.”

Sonia took a step closer as she recognized the voice as the Oracle of Delphius. She had seen his talk show appearances before, sort of.

Sonic and Manic usually mocked him, more or less saying he was a charlatan.

Aleena thought he was a charlatan as well, but she was more polite about it than Sonic and Manic.

She couldn’t form her own opinion as she never could hear a word the guy said (thanks to her brothers) and she never really had any desire to look him up further. She never saw herself as needing a self help book or anything.

“Ah, so you are a member if you know me.” Sonia said, walking over to the figure. She idly wondered if he was an aardvark, a tapir, or some sort of mole.

Of course, she would never ask the guy. It wasn’t important anyway.

“Of sorts.” The Oracle said. “I’m terribly sorry about your brothers and mother. I’ve got an important gift for you and time is of the essence.”

Sonia raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”

The Oracle handed Sonia a necklace with a red gem in it.

Sonia looked at it. “Pretty, but what does it do?”

The necklace started glowing.

“What does that mean?” Sonia asked.

“When you perform your Sonia spin, you will activate its main power.” The oracle replied. He suddenly disappeared in a plume of smoke.

Sonia looked at the necklace, which had stopped glowing. “Uh, whatever, I guess.” She said, tucking the necklace pendant into her top. She turned around and headed back to the base. “Maybe Manic was right and he is full of it.”

As she walked away, some drones began hovering toward her.

Sonia spun around once to see if any drones were behind her.

The pendant started glowing.

Sonia spun more and noticed she was glowing lavender. She fought the drones, immediately taking them out with a lavender energy blast.

Sonia did a double take at her reflection in the broken glass of the drone and gasped.

She looked like a glowing lavender version of Aleena.

Sonia sighed. “Oh, she was beautiful.” She whispered. She stared for a moment, then spun again.

The transformation went away.

Sonia looked at the necklace. “I suppose I can tell Shadow and Mindy.” She said as she started walking.

Shadow skated over. “Sonia, you know you- did you take down those drones by yourself?”

“Ooh, boy, that’s a long story.” Sonia said.

“I got some time.” Shadow replied. “Tell me on the way home. Bunnie is making dinner.”
